View 4 RepliesI'm trying to put together a sideshow using a modification of load_images.fla (a sample file supplied with Flash) combined the the 'Kirupa Menu with Slider' tutorial ([URL]) The slideshow uses a 'next' & 'previous' button to click thought the images. In addition to this I have a separate slide menu navigation (currently just numbers 1-7), with a rectangle highlighting the number of the image being viewed. I would like to move the rectangle to show which image is being viewed, when the 'next' or 'previous' button is pressed. The follow code shows the actionscript for the 'next' & 'previous' buttons....

I am trying to create a code such that everytime a button is pressed a random number is generated between 0-14. With each of the 15 numbers (0-14) only being hit 10 times. I know how to create buttons and all that, its the random number thing thats stopping me.I created it using arrays in another programing language and tried to translate it to flash but I was unsuccessful. this is generally what i got

There are 10 buttons in the movie, each associated with a different JPG.This container_mc is part of a function called on the main Timeline.The Flash movie is 1 frame on the main Timeline. This code works correctly on the first JPG when I click on a button for the first time), but then when you click on a different button I believe it just uses the dimensions and coordinates of the first JPG. How can I reset or refresh (unload, reload) this function so it works correctly every time I load a new JPG?

I have a project for a client and he wants a menu like this one here [URL] with the slide when you roll over the button. All I can get now is this:

Because if you roll fast over the buttons you can't see the slide like on that link.
I have created a slide out menu using a tutorial (http:url...) the only differences are my buttons slide out to the right and they should do this when the user mouses over and then slide back when they mouse out. Unfortunately I am getting an error on the rollOut which I apply to 'dummy button' movie clip in the dropdown movie clip which allows the 2nd menu to slide back. This is the actionscript I'm using:

I had an issue with my index.html testing on IE and the preloader just stalls on "loading 0%". he told me that locally the progress event doesn't have time to load and to try uploading it to your server and see if it works. It worked just fine. Rah Rah Kglad.
So today I'm fine tuning the swf/ fla to clean it up. Reduced some picture sizes and deleted unused files and reduced the swf from 4000 KB to 350 KB Rah Rah Gene. replaced the swf in Dreamweaver and re-uploaded with Filezilla. Rah ah Filezilla.
Everything working great and my preload went from 23 seconds to less than 3. So I'm real happy except for one small issue. Firefox and IE both do this. If I hit the refresh button, it stalls on "loading 0%" once again just like it did locally.
If I hit the refresh several times it WILL refresh randomly....2 times refresh......10 times refresh etc.

Spoke to my hosting company who said everything seems fine on the server. BTW he said Chrome did NOT have this issue Rah Rah Chrome.
i built this navigation bar where there is an arrow and menus - when u roll over a menu the arrow slides to it....now what i'm trying to do is that when u press a menu and then u roll over another menu and when u roll out that menu it slides back to the pressed menu - like a magnet affect..

This causes a mc to fade in and out on rollover/rollout. But what I wanna make is a box that fades in when pressed on the button and fade out when pressed for the second time. But if I say

the mc fades in, but I cant do another on (press) to fade out. Is this too confusing?
The problem i am facing right now is a filename.php generates filename.xml.... and this filename.xml is called in my Flex Tree.Now everytime i update my DB, the values are not getting reflected into filename.xml unless i call the filename.phpNow how would i call filename.php from flex which will make the update of xml

I have created buttons with this Actionscript. They load in the external swf's fine, but when I click on them again they load them in again, and again, and again... What do I need to write in the code so it loads in fresh everytime you click on the button? (or in other words, cleans up the load in page before it loads in new files).

have a site which uses the Apple Style dock component from jrgraphix.net.The issue appears to be with Internet Explorer (All versions).In Firefox the movie works without issue (ignore the transparency and positioning).As you browse between pages the SWF reloads and functions as it should.In Internet Explorer the first time you load the page and the SWF it works as it should.HOWEVER (!!!) when you browse to another page or refresh the current page the SWF functionalilty drops out and some (if not all) of the actionscript appears not to trigger.The .as file used is:

I created a slide down menu and for the most part it works when you click on each link, but for some reason, it hangs if you have one link expanded and you click on another link:[URL].. I used an old .fla file and it worked fine but when I added an extra category to it, the menu went all crazy. I'm not sure how to fix it.

I can't seem to find a clear explanation specifically relating to forwards/backwards tween with buttons.
I have a menu bar that I want to slide down, on Rollover and slide up, on Rollout... and have buttons on it/or appear on it.
So if someone wanted to navigate around the movie they would move their mouse to the top right, a bar would slide down and then they could access the buttons on it. However if the mouse is rolled off at any time the bar slides back up.
I've managed to get the bar sliding up and down but my problem is with the buttons. When the mouse rolls over the buttons that have loaded in front of the menu bar, the bar flickers... I guess because the menu bar can't see that the mouse is still rolledover, when the mouse is over the button in front of it.
I was thinking that the code could tell the MC containing the menu bar to pause when the buttons are rolled over - but I may be barking up the wrong tree.
I've attached my fla/swf to show the simple example of where I'm up to.. it may have been overcomplicated by my attempts to load the buttons on frames of the tween.
I am just getting to know flash, i am working on my website fully made in flash cs 4 and photoshop.
My problem is that
how can i make a fade out on my menu?
when one of the menu-buttons is clicked a "new wall" is sliding down. how can i make the "new wall" to slide up before a new wall is sliding down?

When updating the data provider for a menu bar component, the state of the menu items fails to update until the user interacts with the menus (rolls the mouse over them, clicks them, etc). For example, a disabled item remains enabled until the user roll the mouse over it. Is there a way to force a menu 'refresh' after modifying the data provider XML?
View 1 RepliesI finished my slide show using xml.of course only one picture shows (loads) as my navigation is...the scrolling menu, so there is not click next button as in the xml slide show tutorial.I also finished, as you can see, the scrolling menu movie...i would not use the xml slide show technique with this as you would always have to manually go in and update blank boxes to load pics into as they are not overlapping in the same space.although you super coders can...im just not there...this is my first project with any coding, and im copy and paste man.how do i make it where my buttons in the scrolling menu call up the images from my xml document that created my slide show?[code]
View 14 RepliesBasically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

I am trying to do a dress up snowman card. I am just doing a mock up to see if i want to do will work. Here is what I want to do. I want a slide out menu with different object in them. One for hats, one for arms, one for buttons, then you grab a hat and drag it onto the snowman. The way I set it up the object slides back into the menu..... how do I get this to work correctly?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a set of 4 vertically arranged buttons that 'split' apart when those buttons are pressed. For example, if you click the topmost (1st) button, the bottom three buttons will drop down so submenus (for the 1st button) can now be revealed beneath. Again, when you click the 2nd button from the top, the bottom two buttons drop down, revealing submenus, and so on.
Now, is there a way that I can use actionscripting to tween the buttons to not only motion tween a drop down when a button is first pressed, but also to motion tween the button to return up to its original spot when another button is then pressed? Right now, I have two keyframes, side-by-side which each containing a different y-scale value for an object. Can I do some actionscripting to get the object to motion tween upward to its original spot instead of "clicking," or snapping back to is original spot when another button is pressed?
I want the press button to detect the last button pressed and if the shapes match, make them do something...obviously. I think I'm going at it the wrong way. I need to stick a "triange" id into the button/mc then if compares that and then if there is a match works then... right?

I have a series of buttons inside an array. I am trying to get the buttons so that once they are pressed, they remain in the over state. Which is a darker color than the up state. So that people know which button they have pressed. Is there an easy way to do this for buttons?
