I have created buttons with this Actionscript. They load in the external swf's fine, but when I click on them again they load them in again, and again, and again... What do I need to write in the code so it loads in fresh everytime you click on the button? (or in other words, cleans up the load in page before it loads in new files).

The problem i am facing right now is a filename.php generates filename.xml.... and this filename.xml is called in my Flex Tree.Now everytime i update my DB, the values are not getting reflected into filename.xml unless i call the filename.phpNow how would i call filename.php from flex which will make the update of xml

This works like a charm, no problems. The problem I am having is that I need the button (which will eventually be a part of an animated drop down menu) to have more functionality. When I try to make a movieclip button, no variation of this code above will work to load the swf. I am totally lost. Here is the latest incarnation of the movie clip button code. This version is in the timeline, but I've tried variations directly on the movie clip as well

Why the code pasted on the button will not work when its used in conjunction with a movie clip button?
I am trying to close on as I am attempting to get this incorporated into my website. It came with the recommendation to try the CS5 today to see if this will meet the requirement at the moment.There is a desire to take custom SWF files (I think there is something called Swish files too?) from various sponsors for advertisement purposes and place them on my website.The implementation was straight-forward to make them work through the webserver.I tried a custom example of making a button that upon mouse click would open up a new webpage in CS5 which did work for me.My problem is since the SWF files are finalized, there is no way to put URL information into those files.After doing a lot of searching around today, it appears that the best way to redirect a user upon click of a video is to:
1) Open up a new Flash
2) Import the SWF video file into the project
3) Create a Invisible Button over top the SWF video so when the user clicks, they are redirected to a specific URL.
But for some reason, when I tried to overlay it with a sample SWF file I imported, there was all this flickering going on to where both were made transparent to one another on the screen not to mention the video wasn't even visible at all.My hope was that the SWF video could be seen clearly while the button remained invisbile to handle the click on the video.Is there someone on the forum that is able to guide me fairly quickly with a fast-path procedure so that I can try this?
Is it possible to load a new set of flashvars into a swf without refreshing the page. Example: Let's say that I have a swf that load an XML file based on the flashvars that are received when the page loads. This swf is sitting in a div on a page. Else where on the same page I have an html button that when pressed would set a new flashvar. Can the already loaded swf accept a new set of flashvars based on that HTML button being pressed and do this without a page refresh so that a new XML file is loaded in the already loaded swf?
View 4 RepliesI have a files that is loading and parsing a huge amount of data from a csv file and creating and plotting a graph using the data. All is well if I have the file loaded on the first frame of the movie. But if I pass in the URL by entering the file name in a text input field and clicking a button. The X and Y axis values disappear as do intermittent notes placed above the bar graph. I still see the x and y axis and it's hash marks and the bar graph (shapes) but all of the text is gone.

I have a movieclip that loads an array of external swf files. I thought making the next button would be as simple as changing just a select few things to the previous button.However, that's not working. When I try that, the movieclip doesn't even load the swf files. Below is my AS2 code for my file. I bolded the part at the end that is for the previous button. I have a Flash movie that I need to jump to a one of 6 chosen frames when say a user hits the back button or home in the site. I just dont want the same user seeing the flash movie replay in the same spot everytime they go back to home.

ive created an animation sequence in flash but for some reason everytime i drag across frame 426 it hangs and i see the rainbow circle thing. the animation includes graphic symbols of charecters. im pretty sure it has to do with a certan symbol that has a lot of keyframes on motion tweens. is there anything i can do to clean it up?

i use an action for preloading a movieclip on my website and it works the first time it downloads, but when you click on the gallery again, it doesnt load, but just shows the start of the preloader.The site:[link removed at poster's request]You can see the problem if you click on "Talk Show Hosts", wait untill it loads, click clients and then back to "Talk Show Hosts".Now it doesnt load, and its the same with the other galleries.The site works by loading an external swf file with the UILoader, the swf that is loaded is a ScrollPane that loads a Movieclip.

I load a game on click of a button in level1. When I click on some other button I load another swf in level10 & unload the game in level1. When I click the game button I load it again. The problem is: when the game is loaded first time it works fine but in subsequent attempt it behaves erratically. I am using time interval functions a lot of places in the code which moves the thngs on the screen. When I load the movie again after clicking on some other button, the things start moving on its own...

I am trying to create a code such that everytime a button is pressed a random number is generated between 0-14. With each of the 15 numbers (0-14) only being hit 10 times. I know how to create buttons and all that, its the random number thing thats stopping me.I created it using arrays in another programing language and tried to translate it to flash but I was unsuccessful. this is generally what i got

I was getting in to transitioning from AS2 to AS3 a while back and had designed a page that had menu buttons that when clicked, loaded an external swf in to a container. Pretty simple accept for the fact that it was a while ago and my computer crashed so I'm having to redo this and learn it all over again. I have read in to flash on the subject but I am not to sure on the best way to go about this. I know there are a lot of people on here who make thing a lot more simple and structured than I do. I'm so used to putting the actionscript on the button and I'm a little stuck on the best way to combine the actionscript for the button and loading the swf. I would need to make a button load an external swf in to a container when clicked? I figure I just need one and then I can copy it to all the other menu buttons.
