Unfortunately it won't work to have the preloader loading at the top while the rest of the html below is visible — it will end up looking like the top navigation is cut off, as the top 10 pixels of the nav bar is actually in the swf header (fully loaded it will look contiguous)Is there a way to preload it in one html page and then once it's loaded into the cache automatically jump to the page with the big swf?

I've got a text field that is deep down in a hierarchy of DisplayObjects. The root object is scaled by a variable factor.I want the text field to display it's text in a specific font size, but the text field scales because it's a child of the scaled root object. Is there any possibility to prevent this? I didn't find something in the Adobe documentation.

When creating a new TextField dynamically, is there a property that automatically adjusts the width to the content or is it always necessary to have txt_field.width = ...?

I'm trying to create a user input textfield which automatically applies the defined format on it. The only problem is: actionscript 3 seems to ignore the format and stubbornly applies the default text format. How can I apply the desired format on user typed text? Here's my code so far. As you can see, for experimental reasons I tried to apply the size "60" on the text, but if you execute the script, the size of the text remains unchanged:

I am brand new to scripting in Flash, and was hoping I could get some help on a question. I have an animation that is 300 frames long. The first 100 frames are an animated 'ad' (for lack of a better term), the second 100 frames are a different ad, and the third 100 frames are the last ad. This can be viewed straight from beginning to end (and is intended to loop if no action is taken), but I would also like to add some functionality to the animation, so that people can jump forward to the next ad, or back to the previous ad (hitting back from the first ad would take them to the third ad, and vice versa.)

This does not turn up any errors when I test the movie, but the functionality does not work. Am I anywhere near a working script, or am I attempting this in a completely wrong way?
how can i make a movieclip and a textfield to resize to the content of the text in the textfield? I mean, if I have a textfield with 3 letters font name XXX and then the content of the field change, how can i resize te textfield so the text dont autoadjust to the 3 letter space?

I am trying to make a text link within a scroll box jump to another frame within the same Flash file. Is this possible without having to make a button or movie clip? For some reason if I insert an object like a movie clip or button in the scroll box, it appears in a different area when I publish the file so I can't use that option for links.
I need to be able to highlight the text and then program it to jump to another frame label.
Have recently started de-activating "automatically declare stage instances" in order to get code-completion for stage assets in FlashDevelop and also because I find it's better to have visible declarations of all class properties. Problem is that I'm getting some weird issues with TextFields being null for no apparent reason. For example, I have a MovieClip with a linkage class - this works fine. Any Sprites within it work fine and can be accessed in the Class itself. However, all TextFields are null despite being declared in the Class and instance named in the IDE.
