ActionScript 2.0 :: Xml And Division Symbol Loads Corrupted?
Jan 25, 2011
i have noticed a problem i have loaded maths sums by xml. This work fine soon. The problem occurs when i add division symbol by pressing the numeric keypad holding down alt 0247. The symbols come in corrupted into flash
// osol ISOamsb 0x2298 # CIRCLED DIVISION SLASH // 2298 ; [*0575.0020.0002.2298] # CIRCLED DIVISION SLASH Using Arial Unicode MS (or Calibri), are unsuccessful.. The Euro currency sign in the
I have a big ressource XFL file which keeps a lot of graphic ressources for a computer game.It contains a lot of externally linked graphic symbols (Linked as AS3 classes)This file is extremely prone to getting corrupt after just a few changes. It's like walking through a mine-field.The main symptom is: Suddendly flash starts duplicating layers and Symbols - seemingly endless!What can it be that triggers this? I always close and re-open the file when this happen and everything is back to normal for some minor changes until it happens again.There are also some symbols where it takes almost half a minute before it can be displayed in the library preview window when clicking on it in the library, with very high CPU consumptions.Being a programmer myself I suspect that there is something like a "feedback loop" that causes this behaviour: Some internal back-referencing of nested symbols which gets caught in some kind of loop at a certain point.
I'm calling a php page from my Actionscript which generates XML and sends it back to me. No problem; I've done this hundreds of times before. Now, however, I get a weird problem: The *second* time (and subsequent times) I call the php page, the returned XML looks like[code]...
I was working on an animation for a project and Flash told me it couldn't save and Save As wasn't working. The program crashed and the file I was working on was corrupted. I doubled my effort on getting back to where I was on my project, being extra careful not to do what caused it to crash before. Unfortunately, fate was not on my side, and it did it again. Obviously I'm screwed, but still I like to keep on to my projects and upload them to megaswf or something to share on facebook. I'm using CS5 btw.
I want to save an image using PHP. Everything seems to work fine, but when I try to open the picture, I get an error message: "it is not possible to open the file, the jpg file may be corrupted".
I'm combining streams from a number of cameras together into a recorded stream, let's called it 'serverstream.flv'. The source streams are all from webcams, and each user is assigned a stream name based on their name and a user id, like '1_bob' and '2_julie'.
Sometimes the presenters stop broadcasting temporarily and we just switch to a blank window. The stream on the server side stops recording at that point by calling[code]...
I was saving something on Flash when it crashed on me. Now I can't open it anymore, even though it still exists on my computer. I click on it to open it and Flash tells me that it has 'failed to open' it. I really don't want to start over again because it means another week of missed sleep and meals. Is there any way I can retrieve the document? I was using Flash CS5.
I'm using Flash CS5 on Windows 7. I was working on a file and went to save (CTRL+S) and the Save dialog locked up and Windows gave me an error that said "Flash has stopped working. Close Program" So I did and restarted Flash. When I tried to open the file I was working on, Flash said "Unexpected File Format" The file size of the SWF is right, it's not 0kb or anything. This is about 3 weeks worth of work on here. I'm checking the backup tape for our company server, but that will still set me back about half a day (which is better than nothing I suppose)
Everything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:
on(release) { loadMovie("new_movie.swf", 0); }
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.
and I have this swf file with cms that I'd like for this menu to load. Currently the swf file load external text using this code:
Code: if (contenturl1 ne "") { loadVariablesNum(contenturl1 + "/" + userid + "/content.txt", 0);[code].....
but when the xml menu loads this swf file its structure loads but not its data.I tried using :
Code: this._lockroot = true;
in the loading swf main time line but it did not work.I should also mention that the dynamic data that loads onto the swf that is to be loaded by the menu, resides not in it main time line but 4 movie clips deep .I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
I have a project in Flash Professional CS5 and ActionScript 3.
I have a movieclip symbol (referred herein as "background" with scripts on various keyframes inside of that symbol. I need to hide or show another symbol (referred herein as "object") sharing a stage with "background".
To put it another way, I need "object" to be hidden when "background" reaches a certain internal keyframe. However, as "object" and "background" are both children of the same stage, how do I do this?
what i want to do is, when certain button is clicked, replace a certain symbol(button) by another symbol(movieclip) stored in the library. i try things like loadmovie("","") to replace the symbol from a external jpg, but some how it does not align even both images are exact dimension. can i replace an image straight from the library?
I animated eyes blinking inside of a movie clip symbol and placed the symbol on a face outside of the symbol.The eyes are stuck on the first frame. I am using CS5. What do I do?
How do i get the hitTest() function to test if a certain symbol is hitting another symbol, but, only if drawn parts of the symbol are touching, not thier outer bounds.
Basically there's an object in a movieclip. I want to find the location of that object in relation to the movieclip, not of the object's symbol. So when i look at the x and y of it, it wont show 0, it will show the x and y location in the movieclip it's in.
I'm, trying to create a duplicate symbol and then be able to drag the symbol around the screen.I have an image - once converted to a button and on the stage as paddock_btn. The other converted to paddock_mc in the library, with a linkage identifier of "paddock".I want to be able to click the button, and create a duplicate, which can be dragged and placed on the screen.Unfortunately, I don't get any output errors here.
Code:
//create a function to duplicate paddock function dupe_paddock():Void { i = i + 1;
I have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.
So i've done SOME work with flash and AS3, right now i'm working on a website for my boss, he bought some template online which has stuff laid out and animated and everything already, now I just have to integrate our content.My issue is this, I've got 2 symbols on the screen, one of which contains alot of buttons that list our services as company, the second symbol contains the content (or descriptions) of those services, which on are separate keyframes.What I'm trying to accomplish is that when you hit the button in "symbol A", it affects the "symbol B" and goes to the corresponding keyframe.For example when I click "button 2" in "symbol A", "symbol B" goes to keyframe 2.Now if they were in the same symbol it would be something like
I am following this tutorial, [URL] and everything works until i actually try to place a graphic symbol into another symbol. I am trying to make a character walk across the stage. Flash tells me I cannot place a symbol within itself. Why not and how can i!!
I'm making something for my site where you can design your own character. I am trying to set it so when you select a hair style, it'll change the hair style on the person(I already know how to change the color and stuff). How do I do that?? I thought I could do it so it would switch the movie clip with the design of the button you press to get it to change the hair
Library symbol "Card" is linked to class "Card" which extends "MovieClip". Library symbol "Card" contains a card background image.Library symbol "Ace" is linked to class "Ace", which extends class "Card". Library symbol "Ace" contains a TextField with a big letter "A".So we have Ace extends Card which extends MovieClip. Ace therefore extends MovieClip, but does not DIRECTLY extend MovieClip.When I drop an instance of Ace on the stage and compile the clip, all that shows up is the big letter A. However, I expected the background image from Card to be included, since Ace extends Card, and the Card symbol contains the background.It seems like Flash ignores symbol content unless it belongs to the top-level class being instantiated.I think it's LAME that one symbol can't extend another. The IDE could easily draw Card as a non-editable background while I'm editing Ace which extends it, and it should instantiate Card's content and then Ace's content when an Ace is instantiated.
the best way to do it but i have a preloader the loads an external swf that loads 2 external swf files. one on layer o and the other 1.it seems to load the swf on layer 1 twice.url...if i run the swf that loads the 2 external swf files by it's self and the same problem happens.mouse over the navagation button and then mouse over the close button and follow the animation down to were it turns back into the navagation button. sometimes the close stays up.if i run the swf file that just contains the navagation it dosen't happen.
Finally made some dropdown menus for my basic flash website, but now I don't know how to actionscript the symbol (the dropdown menu) within the symbol, which is my page. Because I need the options that come up from the inner symbol to dictate what frame you go to.So my question is, how do you actionscript a symbol within a symbol?
I have a swf file loading over the top of a background graphic. The swf only covers part of the background... the part that I want to animate. My intention was that the background graphic would load quickly (it does) and that's what the visitor would see until the swf file completely loads and shows itself seamlessly over the top of the graphic. It would be seamless to the visitor because the swf image is identical to and matches to the background. So from the visitor's perspective, they would see a static image until the swf loads and then see part of that seemingly same image begin to animate.
However, what happens is that the background image loads and then a big black box (where the swf is loading) appears over the background until the swf file is completely loaded.I have tried setting my swf background to transparent, but that does not work.Does anyone know a way to prevent the black box (of the loading swf) from showing over my background image while the swf file loads?
