Am creating a two page document in flash cs4. Each of these 2 page documents have links to a learning resource on a web server.All I want is for the user to be able to navigate to and fro this two page document. Infact, I want to be able to click on a NEXT button to go the the nextpage and PREVIOUS PAGE button to go back to the previous page.

After i lick 'next 'button, movie 2 will be show .Beside that,if i click 'previous' button, movie 1 will be show. i facing a problem that my previous button is not back to my previous loaded movie but is trace my choices in arrays backward. The next problem is, my first movie load to the second movie load will be a bit lagging. but the rest 1 is ok.

when it goes back, it goes back frame by frame without stopping but I want it to go only to previous Scene. instead of going to previous frame.Do i have to create a unique button? which i did but i didn't work?
I have a main shell swf file that has two buttons on it that should each launch/load their respective swf files (tool1, tool2). These should essentially replace the main swf file. Also, I have a button on tool1 & 2 that should bring you back to the main menu. All these files are then compiled into an exe. Seems easy enough, but I'm not entirely sure where to start.

I'm working on a project for the new year gathering at our work. I made an application in which you can type a wish for the company and when you send it your message will be displayed in an dynamic text field and in the background fireworks are launched. These fireworks are external swf files, made in adobe after effects. They are launched when clicking a button. They are played at random. However, after playing 2 or 3 they start slowing down, probably because they stack on each other. I need the new swf to replace the old swf, now my application keeps loading new swf on top of each other.
View 1 RepliesI have two xmls, xml1 and xml2. Both have same structure, only data are different. Button 1 loads xml1 and button2 loads xml2. Both calls same function to load XML. First i press button1, so xml1 starts loading, but if before xml1 is completely loaded, i press button2, xml2 also starts loading. If for some reason the xml2 loads first i get data from xml2. But when i look at the bandwidth profiler in flash , xml1 is still loading. When xml1 is loaded it will replace data from xml2. SInce i pressed button2 last, i would want data from xml2. So is it possible to stop loading the previous xml when i start loading another xml?

I am loading in new swfs using the comboBox component which is all working fine with the following code:

What I want to do is instead of it loading into the empty_holder MC, load straight in to replace the parent swf.The reason being that all the buttons underneath, in the parent swf are still active when the new one loads in. If a completely new swf cant be loaded, is there some code that can just deactivate the parent swf?

View 1 RepliesI am trying to do something that seems like it should be relatively easy. Well bang goes that theory. Here is what I am trying to do. I have the path to a group of images stored in an xml file. I want to load them to a movie clip on the stage. doing this directly by reading the xml file and using loadMovie("filename"); bsaically does what I want it to do with just a few problems, 1. the movie repeats so the same image is pulled from the server multiple times sucking up bandwidth. 2. On slow connections the images can sometimes load slow making the movie not display properly. What I would like to do is load all the images into some structure and add the images to the movieclip in the time line when needed. How does one accomplish this in action script 2.0?
In a perfect world, I would just load all the images to an array and load the array element to the movieclip on the stage.
I've tried the following:

Basically I have a media gallery loading xml through a document class. I have buttons set up to load different Movieclips from the library, and inside these movieclips is the media gallery with the xml.
My question is.. What can I use for my buttons that can replace the default "xml path"?
Like in a way of "deleting the default xmlPath" and over riding it with a new one?

If I have say 7 buttons, each containing text that changes color on rollover using the "Up" "Over" and "Down" keyframes in the buttons' timeline. Is there a simple way to get the button's text to change color when clicked, stay that way, and then change back to the original color once one of the other 6 buttons are clicked?
The only thing I can come up with is writing pages of code for each button that changes the color of every other button regardless of whether it was active.

View 1 RepliesI'm loading in 5 jpegs from an external file using "loadMovie" and i have 5 corresponding buttons (1-5) to load them with.
I want to change the jpeg the button loads in depending whether a separate navigation button has been pressed -
i.e.
navigation buttons:
-motorbike pics
-car pics
-lorry pics
If a user clicked on "car pics" then the loading buttons 1 to 5 would load "car1.jpg", "car2.jpg" and so on...
similarly if the user clicked on "lorry pics", the same loading buttons 1 to 5 would load "lorry1.jpg" and "lorry2.jpg"
Scenario: InputTF, button MC, and a dynamicTF on the stage. What I want to do:When a user inputs text into the inputTF and presses the button, any spaces are replaced with _ and the "string" is placed in the dynamicTF. EG: I type "this is an example" into the InputTF. I then press the button. The dynamicTF now reads "this_is_an_example" You might be able to see how useful this kind of process is for many projects. A few months ago, I started noticing a small annoyance in Flash and the Flash Player. This small annoyance quickly became a rather large inconvenience, so I recently started googling a solution. Nothing to be found, unfortunately.Here's my problem:When I open a swf file with the standalone Flash Player (any version), the size of the player is set to the size of the last swf file I loaded with the "File - Open" dialog. By the way, when I use the file dialog to open files, the player resizes appropriately.An example:I open a swf with "open with - Flash Player" and the Flash Player sets its size to 320x240 instead of the swf's size, 640x480. Or I open a swf that should be 550x400 and it opens at 320x240. The Flash Player always uses the dimensions of the last file opened with "File - Open."

each next or previous click triggers function that increments the xml node plus some extras and then does the loadImage function.
when i click next image the correct image loads, but the previous one is still in the display. how i prevent that?

I want to end any previous data loading progresses.. But I can't manage to do this.
I tried lots of things (as you can see couple of them below), but it just can't stop downloading of images. I click to first gallery button, it starts to download thumbs and the first picture. Then I click to second gallery button and it adds more download progress to the previous ones.. (Every gallery has 4 thumb, this way every click adds 4 thumb and 1 picture. It's download count grows 5+5+5 to infinite) This code is from my thumb class.. Every thumb downloads it's own little image..

My project has a menu. When you click on it, the content movieclip with the external image and text objects appears, along with the next and previous button.
I'm wondering how to make it so that when you click on a menu button, like for example, menuObject_3, it goes to menuObject_4 when you click on next, or menuObject_2 when you click previous?
