I am tying to make a number appear in a dynamic text window. I have a dynamic textfield on the stage with an instance name called count_txt. The code that I am using is shown below. Both tace statements show a value of 100 but nothing appears in the dynamic text window.

I have XML displaying in dynamic text boxes. Some of the text are a href links, I also want to track which links are clicked by sending a javascript call to Google Analytics. Is there a way to do it and also open the link in a new window?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to use the flash numeric stepper component to pass it's current value into a dynamic text field using AS2.
So basically I drag the numeric stepper onto the stage. Next to it I place a dynamic text field with an instance name of myText.
So what I want is if I click the numeric stepper up to 3, then the dynamic text field will also say 3. Click the numeric stepper up to 22, then the dynamic text field will also say 22.
Can someone tell me the actionscript needed to do this and if the actionscript needs to go on the component itself or in the timeline.
I would like to input a numerical value into a dynamic text field using a button. The numerical values is one, the button is called a1_btn The dynamic input text field is called results_txt This is the code I am using. Even though it shows no script errors, clicking on the button doesn't input the number on the dynamic text field.

I have a dynamic text box with html enabled on it. There are hyperlinks in the text that I want the user to be able to click and have that link open in a new window. This is causing pop up blockers to go crazy though, and when the user allows popups it refreshes the window, losing their current location in the flash file.
I have been able to open a new window with some javascript and a geturl(), but this only seems to work with buttons. My textual hyperlinks are not buttons though. I have tried using asfunction in my href and then using geturl inside the function, which doesn't seem to work either. Open a new window without triggering popup blockers from an html enabled dynamic text link.
I have tried a few ways but have failed to get text into a dynamic text field inside the window component. I need to get the following trace command to appear in the window component. I have a workable window component and that is not the issue. I just lack the knowledge of how to link dynamic text in a window that doesn't respond to absolute instance ID scope such as _root.yadayada.[code]

This makes it 0000000 (Assuming each Dynamic Text had a 0 in it)

1) I can't figure out how to have URL links in the text that loads.
2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.

View 3 RepliesI am build an Flash program to drill elementary math students.My problem.I am having the students enter in a Input Text box the answer to a Mathematical equation, i.e. 1+1= Input Text Variable. My issue is when I check the answer to see if it is correct Actionscript 2.0 sees the entered Input as text not a numeric value so I cannot compare it against the calculated value. How do I change the input text into a numeric value. I have tried declaring the var as Number but that didn't work.

I'm running my head against a wall here and I'm not sure how to tackle this problem. Background I'm making some sort of movie player with subtitles overlayed on it. I'm using the root timeline for my movie timeline because this greatly increases development speed. The subtitles are created with the texttool, and I make them dynamic textboxes because I need to reference them in AS3. I cannot wrap them into a movieclip because they need to be in sync with the root timeline
The user should be able to enable or disable (effectively showing or hiding) the subtitles. The way I did this is by adding an event listener that listens to Event.Enter_Frame on the root timeline and a global boolean to indicate whether subs should be shown. In the enter frame event listener I search for the textfield by root.getChildByName (the name is the same each time) and show or hide the textfield accordingly.

I have an input text field that is named in the properties box as 'numberOfKids'. When the program is executed, and a delete or backspace is pressed the input textfield goes blank and any calculations that use 'numberOfKids' shows NaN.I have trapped the NaN and undefined so that a numeric 0 shows up instead of a blank.
First problem: The cursor is to the left of the zero, so the first number inputted by the user is 10x larger than what they want. 0 becomes 10. How do I get the cursor to move to the right of the 0?
Second Problem: When I manually move the cursor to the right of the 0 and input a number, say 4, it shows up as 04. How do I delete the leading numeric zero in the input textfield?

I am making a learning system where a user selects a "lesson" from a list of lessons.I currently have a lesson read from a txt file and loaded into a dynamic text box depending on what lesson the user selected. Whenever I am trying to do, the button rollover work, and put the dynamic text on top of it. The area outside the text is reacting to the rollover, but when I rollover on the text, I lost the rollover effect of the button under.The only way I have found to work around this, is to create another mc, invisible, on top and covering the button and create a script to activate the button rollover effect under... but is it the only way?
I don't have to do all this with static text, but the font react bad with rollovers or some other effects.
This is a really easy one that I thought would be easily found on google but I can't think of the terminology. I'm using CS4 and AS3 with a few multi-line dynamic text boxes beneath one another. When I populate the top text box I would like it to automatically push down the other text boxes beneath it when the content flows on to extra lines.
At the moment it only wraps to the gap that is between each text box but then stops when reaching the text box beneath. Is there a property to allow for this (I've worked in Silverlight and there was on controls there) that I can just set or will I have to manually implement this and call functionality to re-set all the controls y properties each time I change the text in the text box?

If I copy the html and try to save as a .txt file it will only allow to be saved as .rtfis there a way to preserve all the font, breaks and styles from a doc saved in .rtf or can I do this in a different way.
