May 10, 2010Building a website for myself and I know a bit of flash but not much. Mostly following tutorials and adapting for my own purposes. Anyway I am building a menu bar, which when you hover over certain items drops down a submenu. I can get the submenu to drop down ok but I cant figure out how to get it to link (jump) to a new frame/scene. I think problem is in function showSubMenu? Flash CS4, AS3

May 31, 2009I need to make a resizeable menu like the menu.gif picture I uploaded. For example the menu to have 5 or 6 elements doesnt matter the problem is to make them adjustable on size (will be different movie clips each one) on mouse hover over each one of them but also snap like this.

Oct 12, 2010I'm using CS5 actionscript 2. I would like to create hovering text when one mouses over an item in the navigation window (please see pic). You know, something that would act like a brief abstract to give the user more info re: whether or not they need to click on that link.At present, the nav_mc is linked to an xml doc FYI (the nav_mc accordians in and out, but doesn't have to). I input what I want the menu and submenu to say in the xml nodes and it shows up. It would be cool if the hover text added could also be xml driven tooI am green to this so the more detail the better. Do I need to create a new xml doc? new .swf? How do I link this? Should I use Flash Builder or Catalyst?

May 21, 2010I have a flash header that was never completed because the guy I hired took people's money and ran. So now I even wonder if what he said could work with my flash header is true or not. But, usually there is always a way to make it work.
I have a flash header that does two important things: 1) Upon entering the site, it loads and plays an audio track 2) Makes an animal noise when you hover over each animal menu item. (not sure if I'm able to give a link to it or not on here. If I able to and someone would like to see it let me know)
I want to know if my flash header can support the following additional functionality/changes:
1) Currently, it loads everytime a page is selected. I only want it to load the one time of entering the site because the audio gets annoying. Set a cookie maybe?
2) But, I do not want to turn the audio off completely because I still want the hover over each menu item sound.
3) Have a link on it to allow them to select to turn on / off the sound completely. It currently has that, but only for the current page. Once you select another page, the audio is back to on.
4) Lastlly, is there a way for it to detect that someone doesn't support flash and to display an html version of it? And can flash create a html version from my fla file?
I don't know much about flash (but am learning) so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do this myself. However, I want to find out if my flash header will even work this way before I invest the time learning it just for these changes. I know it will be pretty deep with script code, but I'm hoping I could find base code already available for these features. Not sure I can afford help now because of being laid off and two different scammers taking advantage of me. So I'm going to try to do myself and see if there is any suggestions/support on here that can help. I have Flash CS4.

Flex :: Getting The Collapsible Layouts?
Jul 6, 2010I'm just finished my first month of getting to grips with flex. All of my projects so far have be very small fixed sized containers with everything in the application resting in an absolute position.The next up and coming project is going to require a more dynamic layout and need some advice.The app will consist of 3 container (not sure what ones to use yet)
Container 1Will be the entire width of the app and a quater of its height.
Container 2Will be beneath Container 1. It will be half the width of the app and 3 quaters of its height.
Container 3 will be the same as container 2.
I want to be able to collapse each container and have the other containers respond to this.For example, I would like to collapse container 1 so that container 2 and 3 go from 3 quaters height to 100% height.
If I collapse container 2 conatainer 1 remains the same but container 3 goes from half thes apps width to 100% of the width.

Flex :: 3 - Collapsible Panel Is Removed From Display Then Switch Back To The Previous State?
Dec 3, 2009I am using this collapsible panel - link. Unfortunately, I have a problem using it with application states. I have a state where this panel is visible, when I switch to this state, this panel shows, when I click on it, it opens and its content shows. If I switch to another state (this panel is removed from display), and then switch back to the previous state, the collapsible panel stays open, but its content disappears. In other words, the collapsible panel's content doesn't persist through states. Anyone know what the problem is? Or is there another collapsible panel that can work around this issue?

Feb 2, 2011Do you know any collapsible flex container that can handle dynamic content that works when pre-collapsed? I tried the CollapsiblePanel component by Arc90 for Flex, but it did not work when pre-collapsed.If I have a VBox inside the panel, and I set the "collapsed" property of the CollapsiblePanel to true, the size of the CollapsiblePanel cannot be restored. It seems like this is what is happening:
The CollapsiblePanel's collapsed property is pre-set to true in the MXML markup.
The VBox auto-adjusts its height to 0 since the CollapsiblePanel is collapsed.
When the CollapsiblePanel's collapsed property changes to false (i.e., it is expanded by the user), the VBox does not expand itself because its parent's content area is 0. Therefore the CollapsiblePanel remains at the same height because its content's height is 0.
Note: This occurs only when the CollapsiblePanel is pre-collapsed, as seen in the markup below.I've already tried this (didn't work):

Professional :: Keep The Light On After (onClick)?
Apr 8, 2011I have a 6 button menu system: when user clicks on a main menu link it will highlight red and light up a light right to the left of the link letting them know they have clicked successfully. After the initial click it will bring down a sub menu with links. However, after they release the mouse button, the little green indicator light goes off. I want that little green light to stay on until they move the mouse outside of the slide panel with the sublinks. how do I keep that light on until user moves mouse outside of the bounding area of the sub-panel with sub links? what code do I need to insert?SECOND:When I go to publish in html, my slide panel which contains the sublinks is chopped off. How do make it were the submenu goes over and on top of my webpage contents right below it instead of increasing the size of my table.

Currently what happens is that when the page loads, the movie automatically plays. What i'd like to happen is for the move to NOT play till it has been clicked. Then after it has played i'd like it to go to another page on the site.

Jan 5, 2010I'm looking for some help animating a vertical accordion menu to swoop out after swooping in. I hacked a crappy menu I found, made from AS 1.0/2.0(?), and I used AS 3.0 on the main timeline to make it slide into stage.The first tier buttons expand & collapse using some AS crap I don't understand, but I finally figured out how to get the second tier buttons to trigger collapse onClick.The thing is: I also want the second tier buttons to slide the entire menu back of stage onClick and I can't figure out how to do it!Do I need to add some AS function to the individual buttons or should I be putting some AS 3 into the main timeline?
