I have a small website and on one of the pages I have a progressive video inside an flv component. However, when I go to a new page the video plays in the background and if I hit the play button twice, the video 'double plays'. Is there a way to control and flv component with actionscript 3? I tried using the stop(); command within the function that selects the pages but I get an error message:
I have been trying all day to find a solution to this, to no avail.. My project has a frame built in flash that loads an external swf via the addChild command. In that external swf, there is an FLV playback component that plays videos on the video tab. (There are home, video, web and contact tabs all in the parent swf) What I want, is for the FLV component to stop playing the video when one of the other tabs is clicked in the parent swf..
am using flash mx2004 and I have a 'MediaDisplay' component named 'vidPlayer' on my stage. How can I build my own play, pause and stop buttons? Pretend their instance names are 'vidPlay', 'vidPause' and 'vidStop'.I know if I use the 'MediaPlayback' component I have all those buttons, but I dont like that skin and I would like to create my own.
i have an flvplayback component within a dynamically-created accordion pane. when the user hovers over a new accordion tab and opens a new pane in the accordion, i want to stop the video in the first pane. how can i reference the video player?
here's the code on the root timeline: function _open(ev:AccordingEvent):void { MovieClip(root.instance7.flvPlayback).stop();
I was hoping to use the slider component to control some parameters in a game. However, after clicking on the slider to adjust it, the arrow keys start controlling the slider and stop controlling the character in the game. Is there a way to disable arrow key control of flash's built in slider component?
I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:
[Code].....
so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?
I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server. The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips. The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen. An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there. Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?
or
I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too. What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.
UPDATE: *There will be not any object over another.
*I will not use hitTest on bitmaps because all bitmaps are wrapped in another component,as they, for now are itemrenderers.
Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. As the layout is not like a grid, is sparse, random items at diferent points(x, y).How to get the localX and localY, relative to item renderer and not to the Spark List, from a DragEvent in Flex 4?
I was wondering if there was a way to get the sound from a FLVPlayback component and manipulate it with using a custom volume slider? Within my Actionscript I currently have this code which enables me to control the volume of a MP3:
import fl.events.SliderEvent; var mysong = new music(); var myChannel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel(); var myTransform = new SoundTransform(); myChannel = mysong.play(0,10);
[Code]...
But Instead of using the MP3 for sound, is there a way to use an FLV's sound instead?
Is it possible to get the component's single lable without having all the labels of the component appearing? Like, I'm trying to include the label into a text's .text the code I'm using now is MoVName.text=MoV.labels; but it gave me all the labels that were included in that particular component.
I have two components. One is called "InsideComp" and one is called "OutsideComp". OutsideComp has InsideComp as one piece of its component, and in my main MXML file, I have embedded an instance of OutsideComp. How do I access a public variable of InsideComp within my main MXML file?In Actionscript, I could just do something like:OutsideComp.InsideComp.valToChange = 5; But I dont know how to do it in MXML. I know this is probably an easy question.
I would like to bind two components with out binding and which resides in different MXML.for eg: A.mxml has textinput and B.mxml has a combobox when choose one item in B.mxml selected item should be display in A.mxml textinput.
I'm building this game, and it was working fine, until I used the menuBar component. It's not code related, 'cause i've commented out the script that does things with the menuBar. If I drag the MenuBar component from the component window, onto my Stage , the game refuses to work. If I deleet it (but keep it IN my library), it still doesn't work!. But if I turn the export settings of the MenuBar off, it works! The classes that i'm using for my game are called Node.as, JawBreaker.as The class I want to use to do something with the menuBar is called GameMenu.as (but that doesn't matter, since I commented the calling of that class out).
Is there any way to put scroll of tree component in left side of component or creating a custom scrollbar for tree component i asked in many forums but i think all flash designers are dead
I am trying to create my first real world Flex application. I will have a lot of different data entry / data view screens so I thought I would create many different components to deal with each different type of data that was being returned. I have a MXML application called Layout, and have component called "Navigator" which controls the menu, as well as a ViewStack called "MainContent".
I want the Navigator component to change the ViewStack on the Layout application to that of another Component (each Component is embedded within the Canvas of each ViewStack). I have a click handler on my Navigator which looks like this: Layout.ContentFrame.selectedChild=event.itemRenderer.data.clickValue; However it shows the error "Access of possibly undefined property ContentFrame through a reference with a static type Class." Is my approach a good way of doing it? I have attempted referencing it using FlexGlobals.Layout and topLevelApplication.Layout... neither of which work?[URL]
In my custom component (Login), I create and set a variable userName, it is bindable: [Bindable] private var userName:String; userName = txtUsername.text; I need to pass that variable to a different custom component (Overview), here is the code of the viewstack:
[Code]...
I've searched for a way, but I haven't found one that does the trick.
I'd like to use a button within a component to remove it. So, you click it and the component is gone. But, I haven't figured out how you reference the component from within the component. What should I put in click=""?
i've downloaded the text layout component from adobe site and i install it with extension manager but i didn't find the component in the flash component panel
I had a question Yesterday, and posted in the Flash 8 Section of this forum...well, I have a question now...When I open a Window Component(with a movie clip inside it ...ofcourse) via Popup Manager from the Menu Component, the Window opens up, but I can't go back to the menu and open it. Any suggestions on how? Here is a part of my code (which I believe will summarize the rest of my code):
All I want to do is have a scrollPane component on the stage and within that component I would like to have a movieclip that is essentially a list, and each list item is a button to be clicked on. I have no problem doing this if I have buttons within a movieclip, but having them in a scrollPane produces the following error:
1119: Access of possibly undefined property mcButtons through a reference with static type fl.containers:ScrollPane.It seems that I am unable to use the scrollPane component as if it were a movieclip and to use dot syntax to access it's content.
I've been trying to create a custom mxml component that extends another custom mxml component (i.e.MyMXMLComponent -> BaseMXMLComponent -> Group). I've been reading that trying to add visual children to MyMXMLComponent caused error with Flex 3 but that's no longer the case with Flex 4.
What I want to know is whether this is a supported/fixed/documented feature of Flex 4? or just some undefined behavior in Flex 4 that may get changed with future updates?
if this is supported and documented feature, does anyone have link pointing to adobe document stating it as such?
how to populate a list box component located within a seperate mc in my swf with an array... the array comes from a response from a webservice call. I am not currently on the computer with my source code available so lets just use the following....
listdata[i] = the array i want to populate the list box with..... (listdata1, listdata2, listdata3, listdata4, etc. etc.) movieclip1 = the MC within my fla containing the list box component mylist = the actual list component
... just not all that familiar with the format of actionscript when working with objects... using CS3 and as2 btw,
i have two MC with two swf files loading into them on my main file. what i am trying to do is have buttons in one MC move something in the my 2nd mc. i know that the _root. will work for controlling my main file but I'm don't know how to go about controlling anything inside of other movie clips.
I have a site I am working on which has a Flash intro. The other pages of the site hold a menu that's created in Flash. For some reason my client wants the ability to go back and view the intro again, which is easily accomplished with navigateToURL. HOWEVER the intro is broken into two distinct parts and I need to target the second part, which would require something along the lines of gotoAndPlay(500); or something to that effect.
What I am having problems with is how do I target a specific frame in a completely different movie, the intro, using a button from the Flash menu within the site. I'll try to explain it a bit easier. The top button on staticMenu.swf, which is placed throughout the site (aboutus.aspx, portfolio.aspx, etc...) needs to target frame 500 of mainIntro.swf which is embedded in default.aspx.
I'm mostly a point-and-click user of flash. I'm in CS5 and have built a simple flash website (with A/S1-2) having a primary swf (content.swf) and other transparent swf (home.swf, contact.swf, etc.) that load in for each menu button. When another menu button is clicked, my A/S instructs to unload all mc's from level 1 and load in the next swf in that same level. My challenge. I need to have a button in "home.swf" go to, say, "contact.swf". How can this be done?
I have to control one swf file with anoter. The situation is as it follows: there are two swf files in my HTML page. One of them contains a movie clip, and the other - buttons, which must control the first one - for example play this movie clip, go to a frame in this movie clip and so on. Is this possible? Maybe there is a way to connect both swf files with AS and after that use the inner instance names.
