When i insert the flash menu it basically dosent fit into the alloted space i gave for my horizontal navigation bar, when inserted it blows apart. the only thing i could think of was resizing the flash document but then i cant see the menu expand it gets cut off,

a friend of mine wants me to change up his flash website template a bit. He has a horizontal navigation bar at the top with links but he wants me to change them into drop down menus so he can have additional links, I have the original fla files and everything too.
View 2 Repliesif the mouse is under the button (outside the mask) the button still activatesis there a way I can create a shape &/or script to "mask" the EventListener much like how the graphic is masked?(the space under the buttons will eventually contain random photos)

What are the common ways of creating drop-down menus for Flash with Haxe?
I've used a variety of "drop-down" menus:
drag-and-drop "combo boxes" in C# Forms
<select> in HTML
UIPickers in iOS
Now I'd like to create something similar in Flash. Note I'm not using Flex per requirements that are out my control.
I'm quite new to Flash. So far it looks like I'll extend Sprite and perhaps use some HTML/CSS for styling.
I made a drop down menu with sub menus. It is a movie clip. When I drag my movie clip menu to the main timeline I don't know how to make the buttons manipulate the main timeline. Like going to a certain frame. Everytime I put code on the movie clip, it manipulates the movie clip itself. Is there a trick to this?
View 1 RepliesI followed a tutorial at lynda.com about a popup menu in flash mx.The submenus were surrounded by invisible buttons so that when you rolled over them (i.e. outside of the drop down menus) the sub menus became hidden.The last bit on the tutorial said..... if you have multiple menus this would be slightly different and involves using "with".
It ended there, and that's precisely what I need.. I'd like to make 5 or 6 drop down menus closely spaced and horizontally placed across my movie.. anyone have an .fla with this? or perhaps a tutorial? I've searched everywhere...

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create an xml accordion menu that has main menus and a sub menus buttons (movieClips) revealed with a mask. Simple question, How do I stop the mask area which reveals the sub menus catching mouseEvents on the submenus?The main menu button is a movieClip, it has the mask sprite attached to it as a property so it can scale dynamically to reveal the subMenus. They are set as children of the main menu button container. In my code I've set mainMenu.mouseChildern = true. But when the mainMenu is clicked I change mouseEnabeled = false to help prevent the main menu receiving events. This helps on rollOver rollOut events, but when I click or mouseDown on the subMenu the mask catches the event also and activates the main menu again. I've tried the obvious mask.mouseEnabled = false; mask.mouseChildern = false; mask.hitArea = null; and even setting mask.alpha = 0 but this has no effect at all.
I don't understand why the mask has to extend the hitArea property of the mainMenu and why this can't be set to null. It also seems crazy that when mouseChildren = true the parent clip also has to receive notice of the event.
I am trying to create rollovers in dropdown menus that i have. I am having a problem with the rollovers on the same dropdown all playing at the same time. The rollovers play backward and forward correctly as they should but when you mouse over one of seven they all play.the invisible button to animate the rollover:

View 1 RepliesFirst i made the images with drop shadows in Illustrator and they looked fine there. When i copied them in to Flash they became pixelated.
I then got rid of the drop shadow in Illustrator and re-made it directly in Flash using the Filter/Drop Shadow property. It still is coming out very pixelated, even on "high quality" setting.
I'm using Flash CS5 on Macintosh.Googling has led me to maybe a dozen tutorials on creating a drop shadow in Flash, so I understand how the procedure is supposed to work. Select the object and then look for "Filters" and apply the "Drop shadow" filter. Simple enough.But it seems that you can only apply a filter to an "object." The things I've been trying to create a shadow on are of type "drawing object." Everything else I've tried to create or import has some other name, and none of them have the Filters menu.I'm embarrassed to have to ask about something that should be (and according to all the tutorials is) drop-dead simple, but I just don't see any way to create a drop shadow in Flash.

View 5 RepliesI have a flash project on the solar system. I created a drag and drop activity, dropping pictures near in the correct place/next to the correct name.
Everything is working perfectly but when I return to the home scene, the pictures are still being displayed from the acitivity even though they are on a different scene... they go away if I navigate through to different places.

Create five words that make up a sentence and they are mixed up in order. So basically I would turn each word into a Movie clip perhaps.
I would then like to assign a target hotspot for each word so that a user can drag the words into the correct order.
Once they are in the correct order they click a button to go to a correct response or incorrect response. Is this possible?

I have an object in my program that you can click drag. However, I want to set a boundary for this object so that you can't drag it outside of a certain area. Using a standard if statement to check the coords of the object and reset them doesn't work as that causes a bouncing effect.
