I am making a website purely on flash (actionscript 2.0), for a school project, and I have set up one frame for each page. I also made a drop down menu, but unfortuantely I can't link them to the actual pages, since the drop down menu is a movie clip, if I use an actionscript such as:[code]it goes to the 3rd frame in the movie clip and not the main scene.
View 3 RepliesWhen i insert the flash menu it basically dosent fit into the alloted space i gave for my horizontal navigation bar, when inserted it blows apart. the only thing i could think of was resizing the flash document but then i cant see the menu expand it gets cut off,

I'm trying to create an xml accordion menu that has main menus and a sub menus buttons (movieClips) revealed with a mask. Simple question, How do I stop the mask area which reveals the sub menus catching mouseEvents on the submenus?The main menu button is a movieClip, it has the mask sprite attached to it as a property so it can scale dynamically to reveal the subMenus. They are set as children of the main menu button container. In my code I've set mainMenu.mouseChildern = true. But when the mainMenu is clicked I change mouseEnabeled = false to help prevent the main menu receiving events. This helps on rollOver rollOut events, but when I click or mouseDown on the subMenu the mask catches the event also and activates the main menu again. I've tried the obvious mask.mouseEnabled = false; mask.mouseChildern = false; mask.hitArea = null; and even setting mask.alpha = 0 but this has no effect at all.
I don't understand why the mask has to extend the hitArea property of the mainMenu and why this can't be set to null. It also seems crazy that when mouseChildren = true the parent clip also has to receive notice of the event.

What are the common ways of creating drop-down menus for Flash with Haxe?
I've used a variety of "drop-down" menus:
drag-and-drop "combo boxes" in C# Forms
<select> in HTML
UIPickers in iOS
Now I'd like to create something similar in Flash. Note I'm not using Flex per requirements that are out my control.
I'm quite new to Flash. So far it looks like I'll extend Sprite and perhaps use some HTML/CSS for styling.
I followed a tutorial at lynda.com about a popup menu in flash mx.The submenus were surrounded by invisible buttons so that when you rolled over them (i.e. outside of the drop down menus) the sub menus became hidden.The last bit on the tutorial said..... if you have multiple menus this would be slightly different and involves using "with".
It ended there, and that's precisely what I need.. I'd like to make 5 or 6 drop down menus closely spaced and horizontally placed across my movie.. anyone have an .fla with this? or perhaps a tutorial? I've searched everywhere...

View 1 RepliesI have designing my website with Dreamweaver and am wondering how exactly I can make a non-interactive slideshow for my main page, preferably in Flash or Fireworks. I want the slideshow to begin each time the main page is loaded. I have been using Simple viewer to make my galleries because I don't know html, I'm a photojournalism major and happened to get the entire cs4 suite with my macbook. I'd like to learn to put more than PS and Indesign to good use.
View 1 RepliesI have two external swf files which I need to load to the main page of the website, one is the about page which consist mostly of text, the other is an image gallery.Both of them have the same intro animation at the beginning.
My problem is, while testing the main page using bandwidth profiler, the about page loads beautifully, while the image gallery plays its animation first before it even finalizes to load the whole page.
if the mouse is under the button (outside the mask) the button still activatesis there a way I can create a shape &/or script to "mask" the EventListener much like how the graphic is masked?(the space under the buttons will eventually contain random photos)

View 1 RepliesI made a drop down menu with sub menus. It is a movie clip. When I drag my movie clip menu to the main timeline I don't know how to make the buttons manipulate the main timeline. Like going to a certain frame. Everytime I put code on the movie clip, it manipulates the movie clip itself. Is there a trick to this?

View 1 RepliesI'm implementing swfaddress in my project, which starts with a main swf with various menus. When a menu item is clicked, it signals a url change, and the url change loads a corresponding external swf. All works swimmingly here. But... what if I wanted to have another menu from within the loaded external swf, and have that have its own loaded external swfs, url change etc, as well? For example, on my home page, there is a menu item called "news". Once "news" is clicked, the url changes and loads a "news.swf" into a holder on the main swf. Now, in the "news.swf" there is yet another menu, this one with two buttons: one button says "Article 1" and the other "Article 2" and each would signal a URL change and load "article1.swf" and "article2.swf" respectively when clicked. Is there a way to get the menus on the external swf to communicate with the swfaddress that is happening from within the main swf so that every swf has it's own url address and different events triggered by that change?

I have made a menu bar and linked each separate swf file to the corresponding button. Upon testing my main movie, all the text on the main page is disappearing, the new swf file is not loading and the message 1120 error appears for all my buttons. I have checked the instance names and they match along with publish settings and folder settings. I cant understand why its not working

i'm trying to create a flash website using AS 3.0. i watched several about creating drop down menus, and i created my menu. my problem is that i can't tell buttons to go to content pages. i'm pretty sure that my script is not complete. when i publish the fla i don't get any errors after working on it for some time but my menu is not working.[code]
View 3 RepliesI created a flash page which I'm having problems linking the buttons.I have 3 pages in scene 1("home page frame2", "music page frame3", "contact page frame4"), which all are set to movie symbols. I set buttons inside the home page and want one of the buttons inside the page to link to my music page (frame3) in scene 1

and all it does is reload the home page as if it can't find it's way out of the home page back to scene1. I realize I created buttons inside the home page and not in the main scene1.

But this doesn't seem to work when I click it just seems to refresh the animation. I have got Stop(); at the beginning of both scenes.
I have a drop down movie button that shows the drop down when scrolled over but i cannot get the drop down buttons to link to the relevant frames.My current script on the dropped down button is

I am fairly new to flash and I have started to attempt to modify a template that I found online to make it my own. The thing that I am having problems with is the URL Links. There are 5 different clickable tabs on the header that I have, and when you edit it in flash cs4, each one is the same image when you edit it. The only way in which you can change what each one of them says is by editing them in the library. This isn't the problem. I want to link these tabs to different pages on my website. When I edit one of them, all of them change to the same url link. The file is too large for me to upload I think.
