ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Create Drag/drop Boundaries
Jun 28, 2010
I have an object in my program that you can click drag. However, I want to set a boundary for this object so that you can't drag it outside of a certain area. Using a standard if statement to check the coords of the object and reset them doesn't work as that causes a bouncing effect.
I know how to set boundaries for a drag and drop, but is it possible to have one of corner of an MC stay anchored, thus forcing the mc to rotate around it like the hands on a clock? (I only need the MC to rotate about 90 degrees).
I have a flash project on the solar system. I created a drag and drop activity, dropping pictures near in the correct place/next to the correct name.
Everything is working perfectly but when I return to the home scene, the pictures are still being displayed from the acitivity even though they are on a different scene... they go away if I navigate through to different places.
I am tryin to create a drag and drop game for children, i am using Flash actionscript 1.0 but on CS3.
The game is about dragging images such as a apple to the letter A and a ball to the letter B etc.
I am having problems making the image lock to the letter if it is correct. If the image is dragged to the incorrect letter it should go back to its orignal place.
At the moment the image can be dragged but it does not lock to the correct target instead it goes back to its original place even when it is dragged to the correct target.
i'm now trying to create a drag and drop application. Once i dragged the object to the target area, what should i do to make it movable false after i dropped it.
What would be a good way to create a grid of images in which one can be dragged to a new position and the other images will shift to make room for the image dragged? Looking at making a little program that will reorder an XML file by visually dragging the items to where I want them.

A student of mine is wanting to create a drag and drop game in which the user selects a possible answer for a range, drags it over a object named as "dropzone". the correct answer is left over the dropzone, and the user clicks the check button they need to be sent to a frame displaying "correct" - otherwise, sent to a frame for incorrect.I currently have a set up in which the user is given an auto response using a dynamic text box and all is done on the one frame, but this student wants to be a little different.
So what I nedd is simple - how to create a drag and dropable circle with flex 4 and AS3 and using Box2d make it fly some more in the direction of drag and than stop?
I want to create some instances of a movieclip thats in my library. [code]This code works. Then I want to startDrag all of them, in the same loop. How to?I'vre tried "k"+i.startDrag(this) but that won't work. Any other good guesses?
ive got the following code. bevvy is a movieclip, theres a dynamic text box called feedText nd a box.. imaginately called box. I'm trying to create a drag and drop game when the user drags a word into the box that will have its meaning beside it in a text box, the dynamic text box will tell them if they are right or not. if they are right the word stays, if not the word will go back to its original location. the dynamic text box will give feedback whether they are right or not.
the code below means that the word will stay in the box, but the text message is displayed all the time. i also have a reset button to make the word return to its origal location but id rather not have the button.
What i am trying to do is move a MC around by dragging it, but i dont want the MC to move so far that it could be lost on the stage. i need some sort of parameters so that the MC is always showing. basically i have a large map of the united states and i want to be able to move it around and look at the individual states. the map is much larger than the stage and i am using a mask to clean up the appearance. i just want to make sure that the user cant move the map so far in one direction that it gets lost.
I am trying to create a movieClip that will always stay on a track. You get me, or have a lost you?Picture the London underground map, I want a little circle that will follow the track BUT also follow my cursor.So if I drag the circle to the right it will go to the right but always stay on track even if there are slopes or corners in the track.
I'm making an image revealer in flash, but I can't wrap my head around how to constrain the slider bar to the area_mc. Mainly in the mouseMoveHandler. Can someone please give me some pointers?[code]...
I have a movieclip that is locking to mouse center when dragging it. I know how to set up the boundary code, though the movieclip images are different sizes, so didn't want to have to create a custom code such as:t.startDrag(true, 290, 85, 910, 390);for each movieclip.does anyone know how to constrain the draggable item to within the left, top, right, bottom boundaries inside of a movieclip?
ActionScript Code: var yMouse:Number; var xMouse:Number; onEnterFrame = function(){ yMouse = _root._ymouse;
[Code]...
As you can see, I'm trying to prevent it from passing _root.block by only allowing the mouse's Y to be followed when it isn't passing _root.block. The only problem is that once it hits _root.block, there's no way to drag it back from _root.block. It gets stuck. Is there a better way to prevent it from passing _root.block but allow it to be pulled back from _root.block
I have been making a memory game, where words are shown to the user. Once they have memorised the words they go to the next screen where the words that they have memorised are shown. They then have to drag each word into a "correct" place and a "wrong" place. I now want to edit it so that I can use two arrays one for correct words and one for wrong words. I want to generate random words from each of these arrays. I have sort of worked out how this is possible to do but using dynamic text, but am I correct in thinking that the whole dragging the words thing is not possible with dynamic text. (I may be wrong though, I am quite new to flash).
I'm trying to make a simulation where a person can drag 2 different objects to any 4 predefined targets on the stage. Based on the position of the 2 objects there will be a different output text. I hope I described that clearly. I would also like the 2 objects to snap to the 4 targets. Im very new to AS. Im starting to be able to read it a bit but still can not wright it.
I want to have an image and when I click on the image ,one can hold down the mouse and drag a copy to where ever on the stage and when one lets go, one can drag another and another with each copy still being able to be dragged after released.this is what i have but its pretty simple and doesn't work....
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,makeA Box); var i:Number = 1; //i will be the total number of boxes var newBox:myMC = new myMC();[code]....
Im trying to do a drag and drop system where the user can drag a movie clip into an area. Although i would like to make it snap to a target instead of just sitting wherever it lands in the area. Problem Two:
The next thing i am trying to do is when the user has a movie clip on a target already, and trys to put another movie clip in that target area, it will replace the one thats in there and go back to its current position. Here is the script of what i have done so far:
I have added drag and drop to some of my custom components.The drag event is fired on mouse down.If you mouse down and move the component around then drop it repeatedly its fine.But if you mousedown and drag the component around drop it and THEN just click on the component it inits the drag but doesn't fire the drop event.Its almost like you have to move the component for it to fire the drag drop event.This is very annoying as i'm removing the component on drag init and adding it again on drop, so just clicking on it makes it disappear.
I created a bubble clip, when u blow the mic it generates bubbles, problem is, because of the continous blowing, the bubbles gets more and more and this makes the movie lag, and as u blow more and more, the movie ultimately hangs... how can i refresh the movie so that the bubbles will refresh as it appears outside of the movie area or create a boundary where it goes back to 0 when it goes over the height of movie, i tried using the 'creating snow flakes' tutorial but it doesnt work
We are developing our app in flash/flex builder for the front end hitting .NET backend webservices. There is one section of the old app that will not be initially converted, so we need have it appear in an iFrame.
So far all that works fine.We shrink the size of the SWF in the host page to just be the menu/nav area. And underneat that I have an iframe control that loads in this page from the old site.Now the problem. in the SWF is a drop down list to enable picking a client. Since the SWF has been shrunk to about 100px high, the drop-down will only occupy within that 100px area which it's opened. This is NOT good as you can imagine. How can I make the drop-down list descend over-top of the IFRAME control and thus extend outside the SWF dimensions? Is this possible?
I tried to make the internal stage transparent and leave the SWF a little larger, about 400 px high, but the IFRAME still appears behind the SWF.
I downloaded a free flash menu component. It's help file said "You can simply drag and drop the menu items wherever you wish".However, I don't know how to drag and drop it in my file. please help me, how to use it?
