ActionScript 3.0 :: Dragging Not Working On Custom Class Inherited From Moviclip?
May 5, 2010
I have the following code:
package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.MouseEvent;import lib.CustomEvents.ItemLoadCompleteEvent;import lib.Room.Item;import lib.Room.ItemStruct;
public class DragTest extends Sprite{private var itemInstance:Item;public function DragTest(){var tempItemStruct:ItemStruct = new[code].......
I have used the same code with a normal clip and it works. When I use it with my own defined item it does not work. Here are the details.
itemStruct: containing the properties of the item to be made. item : Loads the itemstruct defined item and puts it in a movieclip (item is inherited from movieclip).Traces from the above code, show that only the mouseUp function works mouseDown does not work. Though the same code works fine for a simple movieclip.I have already tried
EDIT: I have tried put the mouseDown on stage again if I click outside the item and drag from stage it both mouseDown and Up seem to work. But If I click on the item and drag. Still no luck. I have also added the item as movieclip on stage.
EDIT: If I have a class called Items and it has a movieclip instance which is loaded from a url. The startDrag on item fails. If Items contains a movieclip which we initiate from a SWC (not load it) on Drag works fine. Now how to solve the issue where I have a class which has a movieClip loaded from outside.I have the following code:
package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import lib.CustomEvents.ItemLoadCompleteEvent; import lib.Room.Item; import lib.Room.ItemStruct; public class DragTest extends Sprite { [Code]....

I have a custom event that is dispatched when a slider is moved but I receive no event from inherited dispatcher class I created whereas I followed the same syntax as solution for My flash custom event doesn't trigger
My application (AS3) uses Flash Player right-click zoom feature. However, when zoomed in I cannot drag when the cursor is over an image, navigation bar or active area.This makes the menu and several other pages impossible to navigate when zoomed in.The only option is for the user to zoom out and then zoom back in on the next area they want to look at.how default dragging can be enabled when cursor is over an image/ moviclip?
I made a class that runs fine when used in a movie published from flash 8 on a PC WinXP, but when i try to use it in mx2004 Mac OSX, i get the error:
Code: **Error** xxxxx:Archive 02 WIP:test:PicSwitch.as: Line 42: There is no property with the name 'onMotionFinished'. tweenIn.onMotionFinished = function() { **Error** xxxxx:Archive 02 WIP:test:PicSwitch.as: Line 48: There is no property with the name 'onMotionFinished'. tweenOut.onMotionFinished = function() {
In my class on the first line i use:
import mx.transitions.Tween
... so that i can use the Tween class in my class.
What I deduce from this example is that the swfLoader.contentLoaderInfo and _ldrInfo = this.contentLoaderInfo refer to the same object in the same memory location. So you may think: "well the last added event will overwrite the first one (the internally one added). But it doesn't. The two event listeners will respond sequentially. First the internal listener and then the external listener.
Seasoned AS3 developer, but not very experienced with the CS4 environment. if anyone knowledgeable could spare the time. Here is my situation: I have an actionscript base class, which declares
I'm writting an interactive map of the city of Swansea. I'm using start drag to allow navigation aroud the map, but my custom pointer dies when ever you start to drag the map.
my name is carrumbus I am a long time reader and first time poster and i have a problem I apologize in advance if this question to too simple and ridiculous for your brilliant minds It's very basic action script, but i cant figure out why it's not working
Basically, i have an empty stage, but for 2 objects a custom cursor (using the onclipevent mouse move, cursor hide, startdrag etc) and a movie clip of a little man (stick figure for now) all i want to do is, when i bring the cursor to the man and hold down on him, the cursor will goto frame 2, which will make it appear that the man i sitting on the cursor. at the same time the man symbol will be invisible and draggable. so that when i release the drag, the man will be put down somewhere else.
I am new to AS3, as well as Flash in general, so forgive me if this seems highly elementary. All I am trying to do is create a custom class that extends the MovieClip class and contains a custom property of "marker". I want to be able to use and change the value of this custom property on the timeline for an instance of this class and have it behave just like any other (Ex: this.x ==> this.marker).
I have a base class "Vehicle" and a derived class "Car".
[Code]...
Basically, I want to set a vehicle property in Car's constructor, call Vehicle's constructor with super() and have Vehicle do something based on myVar. But this is the output i get: car pre: null car post: car vehicle: vehicle Why does myVar not keep the value of "car" when the base class constructor is called? How am I supposed to implement this correctly?
I have a custom class being constructed from my main class. In the custom class it has another custom class that is passed in as a parameter. I would like to strictly type the parameter variable but when I do, 'the type is not a compile type constant etc'.This, I understand, is because the custom class used as a parameter has not yet been constructed.It all works when I use the variable type ( * ) to type the parameter.I suspect this is a design flaw, in that I am using an incorrect design pattern.It is actually hand-me-down code, having received a large project from someone else who is not entirely familiar with oop concepts and design patterns.
I have considered using a dummy constructor for the parametered class in my main class but the passed in class also takes a custom class (itself with a parametered constructor). I am considering using ... (rest) so that the custom classes' parameters are optional.Is there any other way to control the order of construction of classes? Would the rest variables work?edit)in main.as within the constructor or another function
var parameter1:customclass2; customclass1(parameter1); in customclass1 constructor:
This is my first time working with a class attached to a movieclip that is nested inside a class attached to a movie clip.I've tested all the properties and methods of PTListItem.as and they work properly but when I try to call them on the list item through PTListTop.as it returns undefined.The end goal is to dynamically load a checklist via a txt file.
There is a mouseUpEvent listener attached to the stage in the main class, while dragging the movieClip the mouseUpEvent doesnot trigger the handler and the movieClip gets sticks to the mouse. While the item is being dragged and the mouse is moved away from the movieClip i.e somewhere not on the item but on the stage the mouseUp is detected.
Edit: Here is the scenario I am using a static (Singleton) class as a movieClip as a "DragManager".Whenever a movieClip has to be dragged it is passed to the DragManager and is added as a child,when a mouseUp from stage is detected another static function of dragManager is called to stop the drag and put the movieClip on the appropriate layer.Here is the static function in the DragManager which is called on MouseDown from variouslayers.
public static function startDragMethod(item:Item):void { instance.addChild(item); //This is the instance of the DragManager var boundArea:Rectangle = new Rectangle(0,0,610,760);[code]...
my goal is to implement drag drop between various layers and with as less coupling as possible.

I have the following situation:I have an event handler, that displays small messages in my application's statusbar.These messages get passes through by dispatching events from custom components.A simple message could be like "HTTP Error" or so.Now, the main event listener, in the main application file, listens to the event dispatched by any custom component,but seems to refuse listening to events dispatched by custom AS classes.Here is my code for the custom event:
package components { public class templateSelection extends VBox { static public var tempSelectionBag:Dictionary;
[Code]....
I want to have a custom class tempSelection with a Dictionary as a public accessable property of that class. If I use this code, the compiler tells me:
1046: Typ wurde nicht gefunden oder war keine Kompilierungszeit- onstante:Dictionary
Which translates to:
Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Dictionary
I need to have a custom mouse cursor and also have dragable object on my page. im using flash 8. I came across this site called senocular which had a list of .as files [URL] and some simple useage such as:
If I have a Document class that extends MovieClip, and I want to use it as the basis for another Document class, is it possible to create a subclass that extends the main document class and use that for a different FLA?
For example,
fla1.fla has a document class of MyMainClass: public class MyMainClass extends MovieClip fla2.fla has a document class of MySubClass: public class MySubClass extends MyMainClass
I've tried, but now I'm getting errors that all of my variables that reference stage instances aren't being found.
get a bunch of objects in my library to inherit from (or even be) one class that i have made, but without having to make .as files for every single one is this possible, or is there any other way to give objects another classes functionality in an auto-generated class?
I'm trying to create a class which will create a tween for several different instances of an object. I am creating the instances in the Document Class. The trick is, I would like to specify how long each tween will take.
As you can see, I have a variable "myTime" which syncs the timer and the tween. This causes to tween to repeat and the clouds to continually scroll across the stage. How can I determine the var myTime at the time I create each instance of the Movie Clip mcCloud?
