While the buffer is filling, the associated Video object automatically displays the fist video frame.Is there a way to receive a notification when this frame is available ? Dec 19, 2011PURE MVC - In my application there are multiple screens which are minimized like in windows desktop. Now each has different instances of mediator which have same notification. So if I do changes in one screen say press some button >> which sends some command >> to proxy >>then proxy sends notifications to mediator. But as multiple screens are active there it is showing changes in all screens as they are notified too by proxies. How to make sure that proxy calls to particular view component (mediator) and not for all live instances of mediators ?

This will allow them to continue watching the cartoon, and at the end be taken to an HTML page that shows them the list of points they selected for further research. Jun 15, 2011I'm running FMS 4.0.2. I have a server side script that will record a stream that is playing on a remote server. This script was running fine on FCS 1.5. When running on FMS 4.0.2 the stream starts recording fine, but after a few minutes it stops on its own with no event notifications on the stream. No NetConnection or NetStream events are registered. I thought it might have been been an issue staying connected to the remote server.
But then I wrote something to publish a stream directly to this server, and have a simple server side script record the stream on the same server, but the same thing happens - it stops after a few minutes with no notifications. Again the code works fine in older versions of FMS/FCS. This has obviously proven problematic that I cannot record a stream longer than a few minutes. The problem occurs both on streams published via the Flash Player (Sorenson Spark) and the FMLE (H.264).
Flex :: Create A Floating Notification Message Of Sorts For A Custom Component?
May 13, 2010I have a custom TextInput-based component for date and time with certain restrictions on what's considered "within range". But it's still fine to insert dates that are outside the range. When a user types in a date, on valueCommit, I'd like to be able to display a hovering notification to the user, to inform/warn them that the date is outside the accepted range.
I'm thinking of notifications ala the Validators, but I'd rather not use the Validator mechanism because it's really not validation, just notification. Something like a tooltip, but it will only appear if the user changed the value. Maybe an effect of some sort?

Mar 9, 2009I have created a simple Flash object that presents some text; it's a rotation of testimonials. The client wants to be able to edit/add to the items. He's going to maintain the site once it's handed off through the use of Dreamweaver; I've used templates to lock down the sensitive areas, and as it's a CSS based design there are many.
Is there a way to get rotation of text without having to create the media to do it? I've tried to explain that when a page loads, it's loaded -- it's the media's job to play the pretty things. He says someone told him this would be a piece of cake in various content management softwares, but I'm convinced they meant he could edit one area of text as often as he wanted to add/change the text; not that when you loaded the page you could sit there and it would display, sequentially, N number of text bits while you sat there and watched. But I'm asking, because I'm not a genius here, and maybe there's some way to fit this bill that I'm not thinking of.
Dynamic User Interaction Flash UI?
Dec 13, 2009I am looking at taking on a project that will be a considerable challenge since I come from a LAMP development environment. I am wanting to create a Flash driven community with chat and profiles. In PHP I know how I would go about handling the data as everything is put together on the server and returned to the user completely formatted, however adding a flash layer on top of it present a problem. I am not sure how to transport data from the server to a flash file without using XML. The obvious problem that I see is as more people are online, Sending updated XML files to flash could become a bandwidth hog and make for a slow UI. best method of moving result data from a PHP script to Flash without using XML or is that going to be the only viable option? My concern is load time. Also is there a good way of unloading data once it is no longer used (ie Photos).

...to a totally dynamic UI based on what is returned from the DB.I've read about role-based access control and understand that it's best that the server generates the UI after a user is authenticated, but apart from re-doing the entire backend to store MXML et al., is there a better approach? Is it a bad idea to have a Permissions object that has properties like:
showTabOne:Boolean = true;
allUserToEditGrids:Boolean = false;
The components visibility and includeInLayout properties will be bound to these values. The UI will also allow a user to create new roles and set permissions.The only drawback I see is that every time a new feature is added, the app will have to be recompiled to update the bindings.

EDIT: What do I need to write in AS3 to make a dynamic text field increase in increments of 1 if the user hovers at the upper half of the screen, and decrease in increments of 1 if the user hovers at the lower half of the screen?Purpose, it isn't a game.
What I have right now isn't actually doing any of those things, I've just been mucking about trying to get all the masks working and they finally are.
I've included the code to offer as much information as possible about my specific project. There is also a few more lines that changes the colour of the dial when the user rolls over the specific coloured bars. I can post that as well if it helps.
To clarify the scene, the arrow part of the dial tracks the user's mouse. Always pointing towards it. The bars, when rolled over changes the colour of said dial. The "73M" is static, as well is "POINTS" but the 380 value is dynamic. It is that string I need to affect.
If anything is unclear please feel free to ask, I've been at this all night so there is a chance I'm so into it that I can't see straight.

We've had many, many requests to have an option where the reader can get a copy of his/her choices that he/she can print out. I've thought about having a movieclip pop up that shows those choices (and that would be simple enough), but in addition to that, what I'd really like to do is have a way to download those choices to the reader's computer as a text file or maybe have a "Print" button on the movieclip showing the choices that would print just that movieclip. The database we have wouldn't really be suitable because it's set up to simply show which were chosen and which not, and the names of the submissions and choices are variables that don't really mean anything except to us when we put it all in an excel file.

Jul 2, 2010For one of my projects I need users to be able to communicate with each other in an audio mode. The thing I'm concerned about is the scalability of the project if it even gets big in terms of bandwidth consumption.
What are the alternatives to passing the audio through my server to the users?Is it possible to create a link between two users so they can exchange their stream of data (audio in this case) so that it doesn't pass through me, while still being able to control the time they've been connected to each other and some other information?
As for now it's just an idea I have in mind but I don't really know what to look into. I think it will probably need to be some plugin dependant solution so that's why I tagged the question like that.
I'm not looking for a concrete solution, just a little push in the right direction from someone who has been through something similar.
