Encoded umlaut characters from xml are not displaying correctly in flash.

I have an XML that contains Spanish text. I noticed that when I traced out this XML to a string characters that contain accents where not correctly represented. The text appears in a List Component. I am changing the font around to find one that might work but this is not working. Anyone know how to represent accented characters in a List component?
Update:Loading the XML document from an external file does not have the same problem:

However I need this xml to be built into the SWF. So am creating the XML from a string:
var xmlString:String = "<root><textNode>bebè</textNode></root>";
var myXML:XML = new XML(xmlString); //This breaks the encoding?!
So I was using Flash Develop to edit the actionscript that contains the xml. This was apparently not encoding the text correctly.
I have a textInput field form that's not displaying the characters it should when typed into. E.g. when the letter "¦" on my keybard is pressed "¾" shows up. This only happens once the flash movie is being displayed in a browser (that is embedded in html), preview through flash does not have this problem. The font is properly embedded as "nameInp.text = shows the correct text in the textInput. It is only when I try to type when it doesn't work as it should. I have Window mode set to window and I've tried setting "System.useCodePage = true;"

The portfolio loads the Titles and Descriptions from an XML file in the following way:

(I used the * to hide the original names from here). Anyway, all the Titles and Descriptions I write there, are displayed correctly in my website, with the exception of V, j and G. At least those are the characters I've noticed to be missing. Anything else, works PERFECT. v, J and g works i.e.

I have a problem showing up a SWF file (Flash) in an ASP MVC file.I have problems adjusting the height to 100%. If this is showed in Firefox or Opera the result is the picture you see below (everything works fine under Chrome and IE).[code]
View 1 RepliesI've come across a strange error with a contact details form developed with Flash CS5 Prof. My keyboard layout is set up as English (UK) and pressing shift-2 gives me an ", shift-' gives me a @ in Chrome, Notepad, Word etc. In a text field on the flash form, entering shift-2 gives me @ but shift-' gives me ". I understand this is how the US keyboard is mapped out but it is confusing to my users.
How can I change the text field so that it works correctly for my keyboard layout?
Not sure how to describe this issue, but I only get it in Firefox and not any other browser. When clicking around, the page sometimes blows up with the attached pic. Sometimes it has even more characters than that, and you can see things like LAME encoder referenced. Anyone know what the deal is? All site caching is disabled. I am no pro with flash so I don't know what is causing this. I am using the Boutell XSPF player due to its support of Autoresume, if that helps. I added it to the list of players, and have the flash embed code in a block. I am achieving this using the Drupal Audio module and submodules supporting it.

View 6 RepliesSo i've created an interface for a lobby display. It's running on a 52" LCD (1280x768). I have the computer hard wired to the display (HP Laptop with standalone flash player) and have the same resolution settings set on it. Now, I built the interface on my Mac desktop and have the stage set to 1280x768.
The kicker: When i run it on the display, there's a lot of extra vertical space at the bottom. When i change the resolution to 1280x1024, it fills the screen vertically properly, but then shortens it horizontally.
I have a PC fiash file with static body text that is New Gothic font. The published swf looks great on the PC, though when testing on Mac, none of the text appears. I thought that with static text fields, the font is automatically embedded?
how I can get the font to display properly on a Mac?
I recently started using FF_Hero on a project but I noticed that the bottom 3 pixels are not displaying effecting g,y,q. It has nothing to do with the text box size. Non pixel fonts work fine...is there a work around?

i am using the code:
txtField.htmlText = xmlElement.node.node.text();
txtField.setTextFormat(txtFmt);
If i don't use any HTML tags, it displays fine. But if I add tags, such as <a> or <b>, etc... the text within the tags does not display. For example, if in the XML text i have:
<node>For more information, <a href='http://www.link.com'>Click Here</a> to see the information. When I run the flash move, it displays: For more informationto see the information.
If i remove the <a> tags, it displays fine.
I've attached 2 screenshots. The first shows the flash stage at its default size - as you can see my font is all distorted and weird looking but when you zoom in (image 2) it's exactly like it should be. What would make it look like this when the stage hasn't been zoomed out or anything, it's just from pressing cmd and enter from flash?
I embedded it by putting it into the fla's library.
I recently hired a programmer to design a flash health calculator for my website. It works great and text shows up correctly when viewing online and standalone. The problem starts when I try to edit the file. I wanted to change some text in an action layer. That seems to work out fine but when I try to publish I get garbled text.
I should also mention that when loading the file I get a Font Mapping dialog box stating "The document 'x' contains one or more fonts not available on your system. The text will display and publish with the font mapping below:". I have tried to select various fonts in this dialog box but still get garbled text.
When I publish I also get this on the Output box: "Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."

View 5 RepliesI am experiencing some rather quirky behaviour with datagrid itemRenderers. First, I create an ArrayCollection as follows:

And afterwards I bind it to a datagrid:

When running this, the datagrid only shows a row with the correct itemRenderer if the boolean == true. For the row where the boolean == false, it will display an empty row.
I would also like to add that wrapping the boolean in a wrapper object will not cut it for my use case since I will receive an ArrayCollection of unwrapped booleans through an RPC call.

I am trying to display some special characters through a dynamic textfield...but the characters are not displaying.I have linked an Arial font symbol...and opened the character embedding opition window to provide which glyphs I wish to embed..

I was coding an AS3 file and it worked great until I started writing a class to extend the textfield class. After that, every time I tested my movie, the text field is created but nothing showed up. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the text was actually in the text field, but was outside of the bounds of the text field and the field's height cannot be resized through code or with multiple lines of text. I found this out because I could copy the text and paste it into a text editor (and no, the text isn't set to white). Everything works properly with dynamic text fields created on the stage, just not when created in actionscript. I have tried embedding a font and using the default with no luck. The code even works on a different machine!! The same problem occurs in AS2. I have tried dumping the class file I created, reinstalling Flash, the Flash Player, and even uninstalling my font management program and still nothing.

I have the title, date, etc. dynamic text boxes(with the font embedded and instance names and whatnot) on a bar for each item which are all on a new's box which is on the stage. [code]...
I'm making an interactive animation for my project and I need to display chinese characters on stage. I've already installed the neccessary Window XP features to display chinese and it does display chinese anywhere I go. The strange thing is that the chinese characters are displayed as little white squares on stage but not in my library. In other words, I can read chinese in my library or any other places in my computer besides those that were set on stage.
View 2 RepliesI am making a spin wheel and the hitTestObject doesn't seems to be displaying correctly Basically, there is an arrow (the finger that locate where the wheel stopped) and the wheel itself. The wheel is divided into different segments, and each of these segments can be control by the code. Here's the problem though, my arrow is at the top of the wheel and it only touches 1 of the segment, but whenever I use the hitTestObject method with the arrow and the segments, it somehow detect several segments instead of one. These segments are not overlapping one another so I don't understand why it is detecting several hits instead of one.

How do I embed, encode it so I would see special characters?
System.useCodePage=1 at the beginning of my files when exporting for Flashplayer MX 6. But when exporting for the new player (MX 7), it wont work.
Is there a new syntax for displaying international characters?
Im basically loading an xml file to flash, the xml file contains the following characters: these characters do not show up correctly, instead they appear like so (as entity references): I tried replacing the illegal xml characters using the equivalent entity references, but still i get the same problem.You can find my files in attachments (contains an .fla .swf and xml file.).
