ActionScript 3.0 :: First XML Slideshow Attempt: Adding Big Image?
Jul 9, 2010
I started my First XML Slideshow/Gallery. Through perseverance and with a little help I have manages to get my thumbnails perfect the problem I am now faced with is adding my main images. I have managed to add the image to my stage but I want the relevant image to only appear when an onClick function is called by the thumbnail. Here is my problem, I dont know how to call the specific image in the onClick function only all of them (it would appear)?
Code:
import com.greensock.*;
import com.greensock.easing.*;
var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("slideshow.xml");
I want to add a slideshow to a web page. I have made a slide show with flash however I really want to add the play controls. Is this possible using CS4 Flash
I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.
I attempting to make a slideshow like the one on this page: [URL] But i was wondering if it is possible to change the code so that if you click on the main image, another image could come up next to it? (I'm making a portfolio site, and i want people to click on one of the main images to then see a detail image next to it).
I'm fairly new to ActionScript 3.0 so forgive me if this question is easy, but I'm having issues with my portfolio slideshow. I have a few thumbnails and when you click on one the image slides in from the right. That part is fine. What I really want is for the user to click on a different random thumbnail and have the current image slide out as the new image slides in. My code so far:
Ive just completed the Kirupa XML Slideshow today and have it all working well. But i cant figure out how to fade out the previous image as the next image fades in.
I followed a tutorial to build a click-thru photo gallery that is linked to an XML file. The tutorial set up the navigation as being controlled by clicking the images, but I wanted to add some more obvious navigation prompts for viewers on my website. The "next" button was easy to do as I just copied the actions for clicking the images on the main section of the stage, but when it came to building the "previous" button, the code was not working. I want the button to take the audience to the image before the image they are on when clicked.
I've pasted what I have below and highlighted the sections that I have altered. If you could please tell me what I'm doing wrong, that would be great.
I've been asked to incorporate a slideshow into a website that I'm working on, which is fine, except they have seen a particular tranition effect that is used between images, this can be seen on these two sites...[URL]. Its kind of a bleach effect? Which I presume is achieved using some sort of tween engine like Tweenmax or the Fusekit? The Honda site also has a nice second transition effect which is pretty cool, where dots kind of fall away? Has this just been done on the timeline?
I love the XML slideshow code that I found on this site, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to expnad on it- for each image that comes up in the slideshow, I want 2 or more smaller images to come up beside it (i'm making a portfolio site, and each small image will be part of the campaign relating to the large image). The even trickier part is when someone clicks on the smaller images, their larger image should come up.
I've got a little test swf showing what I've made so far: [URL] What I'm wondering is how to add a play and stop button to this, I've set it up as separate scenes for each image, but my concerns are when there are maybe 20 or so images to flick through, some users may prefer to just click play, as is common and let it do it automatically...(but I don't want it to load playing) I'm not sure how you'd go about producing a script that starts playing on press of the play button from whatever scene you're on
How would someone go about getting the actionscript to look for another field in the xml file that had a Url link to a webpage for each image that would be activated by clicking on that particular image.
I downloaded the trial of flash cs4 and have created a simnple flash.I am creating a simple slideshow, each of the slides should be clickable and redirect the browser.I created images then imported them and they were automatically converted to symbols.I combined the symbols using some motion tweens.I then created an actions layer and created clasic tween wher I want the user to be able to click.My problem is I cant get it working. I think I am not referencing the right objects.[code]I have tried setting the object reference to the motion tween instance name, the classic tween name on the actions layer and the symbol name none seem to work
I was able to take an existing Flash file created in '06 and make a simple slideshow. See it at: [URL]. Now I've been asked to add buttons and make the slides fade instead of slide into each other. They want it like this: [URL]. So I created a very simple mock up: [URL]. I just can't get the buttons to work like the prosolassociates one above. I have attached the FLA here for review. Attachments: slideshow_buttons.fla.zip (9.0 K)
It all works fine. However, I am trying to put in links on the stage outside of SSP (i.e., Home, Gallery, About, etc.) as shown in this example website [URL]. When I do, the stage is truncated and part of SSP is skewed off the page.
How do I make sure that my stage containing text and SSP is captured as the SWF?
I have been using the tutorial on the Photo Slideshow Using XML and Flash, and think it is fantastic. It is really clear and easy to follow. However I have encoutered three things with it. Firstly I would love to be able to add a border around each thumbnail accross the bottom, that would change color when the user rolls over the thumbnail.I would also like to be able to highlight which thumbnail is currently being shown as the top image.The third issue I have had is when a user moves the mouse to the right of the first image, it scrolls about 5 pixels to the right even though there is no other image before it.
I have been trying to use the XML image slideshow posted here and everything works but one thing. The images to load which have the same px dimensions as the mask for the container will keep scaling up for a reason I cant find in the code. I have been trying to fix this all day without any luck and I am about to go mad here. I am using FCS3 but saving a F8 doc with AS2. Could anyone take a look to the file and tell me what the problem could be?
okay, I know most slideshows have more than one image, but when the slideshow only has one, it blinks on and off. The problem is I am using this in a cms tool that pulls the files dynamically so i will sometimes have more than one,but other times, only one.
so, where is my code inside the function I have some variables which are global variables that I declared and I attempt to use outside of the function.Is this possible ? I ask the question cause I don't see that they work
I have made a random image loader for a slideshow, but the preloader does not work for it (I grabed the preloader from a previous website I made) Is there a way to preload the images or the slideshow and/or have the next image pre-load while the current image is playing. I have attached a zip file of the random image loader
I am trying to create a "slideshow" in flash CS4 and I have set it to fade out one image is it fades in another (using alpha) for about 10 - 15 images.However, I want to add a "border" to my slideshow, that stays there throughout the entire process without it fading in and out along with the pictures.
Im trying to create a xml gallery for her images. The slideshow is working but they want a button on the stage that when clicked, it will go to the last image in the xml file.
I am wanting to make the Images in the XML Slideshow Tutorial a clickable link. So that a user can click on the actual image when it is displayed and be redirected to another page. It would be good if the URL that the images redirect to are also embedded in the XML file with the other image info. This would be similar to the News Ticker Tutorial where the URL for the News Text is in the XML.
I'm working on and xml loaded slideshow. I have a script that I got off of this site where the image fades out before the next one is loaded. The only problem is that the last image does not fade out, it just goes back to the first image which makes it inconsistant
this relates to the tutorial posted by kirupa on creating an image slideshow using xml with actionscript: [URL] this slideshow is great, but i'm wondering whether it is possible to start it in the middle of the sequence. so, for instance could one button load a swf file with code that would start the slideshow at, say, frame 5 out of 10? i understand how the actionscript for this works, but am running into deadends on how to get the xml more specific. oh, and i'm using flash 8 for this.
