How would someone go about getting the actionscript to look for another field in the xml file that had a Url link to a webpage for each image that would be activated by clicking on that particular image.
I used the script below for a slideshow in Macromedia Flash MX2004. The images are in the folder images.xml (and believe me, I checked the names many times). But now the problem: when I load this slideshow, it shows only 3 photos, whereas there are 10 in my folder which I need to show. After the 4th photo I get only black.... it doesn't continue.

i created a flash slideshow with pictures of events and link each picture with its own event (ie. each pictures has its own links to the website). I created the fade in and fade out effect using the class motion tween. With the link, I created a layer with a button that has alpha= 0 (so the user don't see it) and then I used code snippet to make another layer with the action script "click to go to url."
When the slideshow goes to the last picture I made it fade out and the first picture of the slideshow would show up and then the slideshow would replay itself (by default?). My goal is to make a continuous slideshow.
When I tested the swf file, the first time it runs, everything is right. The urls and the pictures are in correct order. However when the slideshow replays itself automatically, I notice that the links are incorrect. In the first play, when I click the picture of the event it would open the url of that event.However when the sldieshow replays, clicking the pictures would only open the url of the first event picture. When I click on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.pictures the browser opens only the link of the first picture of the slideshow.
I keep battling the slideshow, and now I have some other doubts. I tried to find the answer to this on other threads on this forum, but couldnïż½t find anything. So, here it goes:I now have a photo slideshow where one photo fades out, and the next one follows, fading in.Between the fade out and fade in, there is a short interval of white, the background of the flash animation. I have to replace this white interval, with the fadeout of the previous image, so that the first and the next image sort of merge. How can I do this?lso, on the very last image of the presentation, there is a jump back to the first image, without the fadeout. How can the loop be made so that the last image fades out too, and not simply disappear?Here is the code Im using right now:

When building a photo slidshow with 35-40 photos what is the best practice? Is it to place them all on one layer, or each on its own layer? Also I did see the set interval method from tutvid placing the photos in frames next to each other.

I'd like to create a banner for my website using a slidshow but I'd like for the photo's that are displayed to be daylight images during the daytime and nightime images during the evening hours from the viewers perspective. These images will, of course, be outdoor pictures, but I cannot seem to figure out how to select the picture elements to display based on the users time shown on their computer.

Right now all of the photos and text are listed in an XML file on a server. I don't want the info to be pulled from my server when someone plays the CD. When I roll over what would be the button section in this template it is set up to be a link, but I don't know how to edit it and add the links I want. how I can get links added into this thing? I have made a photogallery in actionscript 3 which uses an .XML file to import pictures. As the user clicks on the displayed image the code loads the next image in the cycle into the display. Now, I would like to add a preloader which displays the loading progress of each image as the user clicks (otherwise there is just a blank area as the image loads). I have made a pre-loader for the main .SWF but I can't figure out how to make it work for the images or how to make a seperate one for the images. The fact is that I am a bit of a muppet when it comes to AS3, and am finding myself getting lost an confused quite easily.

However I have encoutered three things with it. Firstly I would love to be able to add a border around each thumbnail accross the bottom, that would change color when the user rolls over the thumbnail.I would also like to be able to highlight which thumbnail is currently being shown as the top image.The third issue I have had is when a user moves the mouse to the right of the first image, it scrolls about 5 pixels to the right even though there is no other image before it.

View 1 RepliesI managed to get the swf to load fine on this page (www.diamondraindesign.com) until I added a full-screen invisible button that goes over the slides. It uses the same counter to sync with them so that whenever someone clicks on it they go to the proper page. Unfortunately, now only the link works to the first page item, and sometimes I can't even see the slides 'loading' text, just a white background. If I take the link button out, the slides are fine. Why is the link interferring, and how do I get it to sync and not stop the slides?

I've stumbled across a very interesting tutorialBut, I've noticed a little detail. When you click on the big image of the finished example on the first page of tutorial, it acts like a link. When I have downloaded finished .fla source, links are nicely written in the images.xml file, but the links in the .fla file don't work.

There's no way to do this in the IDE as nearly as I can tell. One link per field.
I can do it in actionscript by parsing the text in the fields and comparing it to entries in an XML, finding the entries and then adding the links to the htmlText of the field. Is there any way to easily parse words taking punctuation into account? Of course I can use the split function, but that doesn't sort out periods, commas, and such.
I'm trying to modify Scotty's fantastic resizable XML gallery to add links to it. I've read through similar posts on this forum and I'm confused on a couple of issues. Firstly, the xml file provided, which I am using, places all fields in "" marks, whilst all examples given on this forum don't seem to do so.Perhaps more importantly, when i try, as recommended on similar posts, to place the link within CDATA tags the gallery stops showing any thumbnails, pictures or anything!
