ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Dynamically Set DataGrid Row Colors Individually

I have a datagrid. It is populated dynamically by an XML file. I need to be able to set each row's text color seperately. For example, if my variable "type" is "urgent", it would be a red text color.
I've spent almost 2 hours trying to figure this out. I've tried setStyle, setRendererStyle, setTextFormat and many more and dozens of combinations. I know its simple cause I think I've done it before.

I am attempting to combine two AS files that are acting as cellRenderers individually but not simultaneously for cells in a datagrid in a Flash document I have created. The first styles the cells to have alternating row colors and the second allows for non-text content to be rendered. The issue is whenever I attempt to combine them the document reports errors with "super" and "override" among others.

how I can manage to give single words inside a DataGrid-CellRenderer a different color than defined by the TextFormat for that CellRenderer? It's not how to get these single words, it's how to use more than one color inside one cell...

Let's say a user can pick fifty different hat colors and styles to put on an avatar. The avatar can move his head around, so we'd need the same types of movements in the symbol for when that happens. Additionally, it gets which hat should be on the 'avatar' from a database. The problem is that we can't just make 50 different frames with a different hat on each. And each hat symbol will have the same movements, it'll just be different styles, colors and sizes. So how can I make one variable that is the HAT, that way we can just put the appropriate hat symbol into the variable and always be able to call Hat.gotoAndplay('tip_hat') or any other generic functions.... Does that make sense?

I have managed to color the rows of a data grid object separately, however giving them a nice tween effect is proving to be more tricky. I wish to make it so that when a row is edited it turns gray and then fades back to white.When I edit a single row this works fine. But when I edit a second row the tween shows up on both of them. The sprite sent to gridColor is indeed the same independently of which line I am editing (weird imo).(Each element in my dataprovider has two extra values color and color_to so that it knows when to tween. )Managed to solve it by looking at the datagrid source code and playing around. Im having some trouble finding any info on alternating the font colors in a datagrid component, i can alternate the background colours, but i'd like to alternate the font colors of the rows instead.

I'm trying to dynamically change movieclip colors. My MovieClips (on the main timeline) are named box_mc1, box_mc2, box_mc3, etc. I have the following code, but I can't figure out why it doesn't work.[code]I don't quite understand why the trace statement doesn't work either, but the mouse pointer changes to a hand when I move over the MovieClips.

When using a ColumnChart created in Flex 3, how can I to change the fill color of columns that meet a certain criteria?
Example: I have 8 columns representing agreement percentages between groups of people and want to change the fill color (or otherwise highlight) of all the columns that have over 80% agreement.

I am a scientist who knows molecular biology well but is a neophyte to Flex/ActionScript. I created a ColumnChart representing a probability histogram. I want to allow users to select a range of values on the X-axis via 2 sliders separate from the chart itself (one for the minimum value, one for the maximum.) By default the column bars are blue. But when the user selects a range, I would like to highlight that range in the chart a different color (eg. orange). How can this be done using ActionScript?

I work at this place that does tons of partner sites for our main company, that all the same site, just with different color schemes and logos. i'm in the middle of redoing a lot of the elements and making them flash based. i realized if i can have a way of maybe dynamically loading the colors on the page from an external php or xml document, that i would save myself and other much work in the future.

I wonder what kind of class(es) I should use to accomplish this task. I have two predefined colors, 0xFF0000 and 0x00FF00 (red and green), and I would like to set a number of gradiants of colors between these two colors. I am dynamically adding columns based on values received from an array. The columns are getting generated properly.But the problem is when I try to insert values for each column, I have to specify each column name in the addItem function.So the addItem function accepts only hardcore values which match my column names --- but it does not accept dynamic column names.Since it does not accept dynamic column names, it can't populate appropriate values related to each column.scoreBoardData is the instance name of my DataGrid component

1) Using datefield as item renderer in flex.I am dynamically creating datagrid and its columns. like

Can we change the width of the datagrid column dynamically by clicking on the border of the column in order to display the complete string which is too long to be displayed and needs to be scrolled ? If so, How ?
Also, how can we ensure that the column width changes dynamically based on the number of characters / length of string; since many a times the data is too long to be displayed. Can we set the column width to take the length of data into consideration before displaying onto the datagrid ?

I have a panel inside which I have a datagrid and a button. The functionality is that when I click the button, an row gets added to the data grid. I have described the pane height and width in %. But as the number of rows in the data grid increase, due to fixed panel height, a scroll bar appears in the data grid. But I want the panel height to increase dynamically as I increase the data grid rows.This is my flex code:

It seems like there are various hacks out there to change the background colour of the row of a datagrid but all of them seem to happen at render time.See: http:[url]....I have a datagrid where I need to change row colours to red then back to normal frequently based on changes to the bound ArrayCollection. So I'm looking for a way to change the row colours dynamically.Obviously as the changes are happening frequently it would be nice if changing the background colour of the row wasn't an expensive process.

I've got two movieclips box and box2 and I've place them in the same layer because I couldn't get each box to move individually in seperate ones I've placed this code on the frame
