ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Player 9 - Popped Up From The Swf Contained In The Main Html Window?
Aug 3, 2009
Can anyone tell me if I need to use Actionscript 3 code instead of Actionscript 2 code in the following situation: I am running a swf file which is contained in a browser window (all files are contained on a CD and I have a 'trust' file set up to let them play properly). Up until now, I have been using the following Actionscript 2 code to close the browser window (the Actionscript 2 code is on an 'Exit' button within the swf):
on (release) {getURL("javascript:window.close()");}
This Actionscript 2 code has always worked and still works in Flash player 8 and lower. However, it does nothing when played using Flash player 9. Can anyone tell me if Flash player 9 won't recognize Actionscript 2 code? Is it essential to use ONLY Actionscript 3 code if you are using Flash player 9? I am having the same problem when I try to launch another html page containing a swf (popped up from the swf contained in the main html window).I have the following code on the button to launch the popup html window.It always worked, but suddenly no longer works with Flash player 9.Here is the code I am using:
on (release) { getURL("javascript:launchWin2('webpage2.html');");
}
I have all the necessary background code to launch 'webpage2.html'.It works everywhere except in Flash player 9.
I have a banner ad which contains an flv player. Due to size restrictions for banners at the site, I've found a player which I think will do the trick (chrometaphore). However, the site in question does not allow anything more than the actual swf for the ad, so I cannot include the com folder for the player and need to include all AS3 code in the swf file. I'm not a scripting genius, and wonder what it would take to include all the classes in the AS3 file contained in the swf. Is it possible? Does anyone know where I can find a VERY lightweight player whose entire code is contained in the fla?
[edit]: It just occurred to me that if the flv is on a remote server, could the com folder and files also be remote? Currently, the path for the com files looks like this:
I am preparing a presentation DVD... DVD will contain wmv video, user manual and another flash exe file... So DVD interface will contain three elements; user manual, a flash exe file and video.. Flash video window will be short-time video, playing like 5-10 seconds then repeats itself... My question is, how could I accomplish to put video window playing certain amount of time then repeats itself, in main window? I need as3 fla example, which could be so useful for me..
I have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc. Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.
I'm trying to place a popup window (TitleWindow) in the middle of the main application window. how do i set the coordinates of my popup window to be of the main application window? i tried the localToGlobal function but with no luck, I just can't get the main window x and y.
I've just started working on a photo viewer type desktop AIR app with Flex. From the main window I can launch sub-windows, but in these sub-windows I can't seem to access the data I collected in the main window.
How can I access this data? Or, how can I send this data to the sub-window on creation? It doesn't need to be dynamically linked.
I realize this might be a very easy question but I have searched the web, read and watched tutorials on random AIR subjects for a few days and couldn't find it. The risk of looking like a fool is worth it now, I want to get on with my first app!
My company emails our Flash EXE files out to customers. Most of these Flash files use keyboard events to navigate through them, and they load external SWF and video files.So, obviously,I have to package all of my movie files, SWF, and the main EXE into the same folder.In the past, they have simply Zipped the file, emailed it out, and told them which file to open.
I am trying to find a way to take the entire folder and bundle it into a single EXE file.I need to find a permanent solution for opening the main Flash EXE file in a MAXIMIZED window. I don't mean fullscreen.I mean MAXIMIZED.In fullscreen, keyboard events don't work.But, they do in a Maximized window.
What is the actionscript required to close a Flash player window? I want to run a flash movie on my computer that has a button which closes the window, but in Actionscript 3 I cannot add actions to the button.
I've created a Flash project that is to be distributed on a CD and launched as a 1024 x 768 Flash player window (so no html, java, etc.). It opens on my Mac just fine, but on my clients PC the top of the Flash Player window is halfway down the screen. Is there anyway to make the window open so it's flush with the top and left of the screen?...and not be in a web browser.
Overview: I'm creating a menu where buttons have a sub-menu that pops-up when you hover over the main buttons. The menu will eventually be populated by scanning labels in the timeline, and that seems to be working fine so far. Everything works good enough except you can't move your mouse up and down a popped-up sub-menu without the mouse_out function triggering. The mouse_out listener seems to be applied to all individual sub-buttons when I'd like it to apply only to the parent MC container of each sub-menu.
Is there a problem with the way I'm assigning sub-buttons to container MC's ? I've explored using an array to store the MC's as well, but still had the same listener issue. Could someone look at my FLA? If you do a find for "PROBLEM", that is a good place to start.
I'm a web designer but I just don't use a lot of Flash. I'm sure this will change as time goes on. For now, I'm still using an old version of Flash MX on my Mac - Flash MX version 6. But I don't think that has anything to do with the problem. I designed a flash animation for my wife's website back in 2004 and it has always worked perfectly up until installing the most recent Flash Player 10.0.32.18 just a few days ago. Here's the problem:On my wife's website, we have a special link called "view presentation". You click on that link and a smaller, separate window pops up. Inside of this pop up window is the flash animation (the actual swf file). In the HTML code for the pop up window, I have coded the following javascript:
function closeWin() { if (document.images) { self.close();
I have created an animation (.swf) with a third party software application. I tried to import it as a symbol into Flash but it is constructed in such a way that it won't work. It requires to be housed within an html environment in order to combine the animation with a separate navigation layer that exists in two separate .swf files.I can mount this animation on a web page independently as it's own page but I really want it to appear within another flash animation.Is there some way for me to create a window in a flash movie that contains a view to an external HTML page so I can embedd this animation? Perhaps similar to an iFrame?
I'm building a CDROM using Flash CS3 but with Actionscript 2.0. There are videos that need to open in a new window with a Flash video component (on click ) within Flash and not in the browser. Also with the option of opening full screen
I am working on a project that is not going on the web, but CDs. I'm trying to have a swf load in a new flash player window when a button is clicked. I've searched the web, but seem to only find how to open a new browser window.
I remember reading about a Flash Player plugin which shows the output window when errors occur but can't remember the link or where I read about itDoes this exist or have I made it up?! Would like to use it if it does as could be useful when testing out Flash compostions on the web
I've created a startup screen for a CD and have published it to exe format. When it plays from the CD however, it opens in a Flash Player 10 window. I am wanting to create a standalone splash screen without the Flash Player bar along the top.
I have xml file where I have put properties width and height.[code]The default width and height in flash IDE are 250x250.I am asking how can I dinamically set width and height to the above values when loading the xml is finished?I know that it is something with stage.stageWidth and stageHeight but every thing I tried doesnt seems to work.I am also using class actionscript file and I have constructor in it. Is it possible also to set these values when constructing the swf file?
I'm working on a site [URL] where I'm using an elastic effect on a window that will display the content. Code for elastic is on a frame: rate = .3; decay = .4; window.goal = 50; window._xscale = window._yscale = 0; window.onEnterFrame = function() { [Code] ..... Now all of this code works fantastic when I publish the movie for the Flash 6 Player, but when I change it to the latest Flash 7 Player it doesn't work.
I'm developing a simple Flash application which has only one SWF file. I want the SWF movie to start playing asap so I don't build a preloader for it. What happen if my actionscript code refers to resources which haven't been loaded yet? For example, the code cause the playhead to jump from frame 1 to frame 20 when the movie has just been loaded up to frame 10. In that case, flash player will? Block the script execution, stop playing, continue loading from frame 11 to 20 (without executing script), jump to frame 20 and invoke script at that frame when it's loaded?
Block the script execution, stop playing, ignore loading frame 11 to 19, load frame 20, jump to frame 20 and invoke script at that frame? Ignore jumping to frame 20, continue executing next statements after the go to frame 20 statement? Or anything else? If flash player doesn't ignore jumping to frame 20, any event is triggered when frame 20 is loaded completely? Note: Answers for the first question should focus on my example, cover all circumstances (such as attach movie from library...)
Is there a way (using flash) to grab the raw html from another browser frame? I'd like the following sequence:
Launch my window from [URL]...Launch window from another site [URL]..which has content I want to grab.Let my window grab the raw html content from the other window.
I doubt this is possible because it could be used for dastardly purpii, but just wanted to check.
My Flash CS3 file displays HTML text, read in from an XML file (within CDATA). The HTML text contains links in the form of <a> (anchor) tags (of course).I am attempting to open a new customized browser window whenever a user clicks on a displayed link. So far, I am able to open a window, but the customizing attributes ("width=600,..." etc.) are ignored.Rather than displaying for you the one dozen variations I have (unsuccessfully) attempted, does anyone have a simple example of something that actually works?
I'm trying to get my main class to resize to the browser window size. I'm listening on the stage to Event.RESIZE, updating my width/height to match the stageWidth/stageHeight, and drawing a rectangle to show me how big it is. When I resize, it flashes between a small and big size every other time the event fires. The width and height are correct in both cases, but in the "small" case, everything is in a small box.
Basically, I'm trialling a javascript button that, when clicked, will produce a popup window with the flash player embedded in it. I've had some progress but am having problems passing the url I want...
My javascript reads: function doublePopup(){ var player = document.FLVClipEditor; if (player) { var url = "[URL]"; player.doublePopup(url); }} [Code] .....
But when I try to pass a URL through, nothing happens. However, if I put the url in directly (as below), bingo! The pop appears!
I've installed the latest debug version of Flash player plugin for Mac OS X. Diagnostic page [URL] confirms that the version of Flash plugin detected is debugger one. I'am also able to debug applications using Flash-builder debugging tools. But no runtime error pop-ups are shown during browsing. Does anyone have the same problem? Does anyone know how to fix this strange behavior?
I've tried to uninstall the player using this application [URL] and reinstall Flash player again, but no luck.
UPD1: I've created additional user account and found out that error pop-ups are displayed successfully when switched to that account. So it's likely user-profile configuration issue.
