View 1 RepliesMy assignment is to create a real time (meaning using a game loop) Flash game in an object orientated manner. I've been following guides online, and I think I've got the basics down, but my player sprite isn't appearing.
I imported an image into Flash and then converted it into a symbol called Player, and now it's a movie clip. I exported it for ActionScript, and called the class com.Player.
Also, I have set the class of my document to com.Engine (this is where I plan to have my game loop and call methods to other classes).
Then, I created a directory called com in the same directory as my .fla. Inside that directory, I made Engine.as and Player.as, and here's the code for them both:
package com {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.display.Stage;
[Code].....
According to what I know, that should make the player appear in the center of the screen when I run it, but it doesn't. I've verified that the Engine class and constructor is being called using trace("hello world"), and I get that output. I also know that the constructor for the Player class is being called by using the same method. I just don't get why the player doesn't appear on screen.
If I drag the Player symbol (correct terminology?) from my library onto the stage, the player sprite shows up... so I know there's an image attached.
Way to stop the pointing hand cursor from appearing when the mouse rolls over a Flash button?

View 8 RepliesI have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc. Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.
I am trying to debug application which fails on me silently online. I am a 100% certain that I am running the flash debug player. To even make sure I am not losing it, i throw an Error ON PURPOSE. But flash shows not a single stracktrace in the browsers. I am kind of close of losing it. Any clues ? I am trying this on chrome, and firefox. WTH? Compiling with FDT, debug mode, even set the compiler argument debug=true. This is normally not the case.
View 3 RepliesI have some Flash application that loads data (external images, SWFs, XMLs) from the same domain. And it was fine until client decided to add load balancers for server. Now we have a number of complaints from users about security errors. It looks like application can't load external resources treating them as resources from different domain without crossdomain.xml.
One of users that have this problem provided us with following info:
Browser: IE 8.0
OS: Windows 7
Flash Player version: 10.1.102.64
I have spoken with server administrator and he told me that we have load balancers that work like Round-robin DNS. In its simplest implementation Round-robin DNS works by responding to DNS requests not only with a single IP address, but a list of IP addresses of several servers that host identical services. The order in which IP addresses from the list are returned is the basis for the term round robin. With each DNS response, the IP address sequence in the list is permuted. Usually, basic IP clients attempt connections with the first address returned from a DNS query so that on different connection attempts clients would receive service from different providers, thus distributing the overall load among servers.
Finally we have: SWF loaded from IP1, data requested from IP2, crossdomain.xml loaded from IP1. All of them can be accessed through the same domain, but have different IPs.Because of IPs difference, Flash Player ignores crossdomain.xml and triggers security error.I'm not sure it happens exactly like that, since for older versions of Flash Player I have found the following words:
The basis of domain comparison is the domain name, not IP address.
So, I have two questions after all of that: How exactly domain comparison for HTTP-connections works in latest versions of Flash Player? Can two resources obtained by address with same domain name but from different IPs treatened as obtained from different domains? Maybe someone have info about DNS rebinding in different browsers?
I have this streaming video player with an asyncErrorHandler function which isn't working correctly.In Flash player 10 I get no errors, but in Flash player 9 I'll get a popup window with the error message that shows up in my output window when I test on my local machine.
Error #2044: Unhandled AsyncErrorEvent:. text=Error #2095: flash.net.NetConnection was unable to invoke callback onBWDone. error=ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property onBWDone not found on src.display.VideoClass and there is no default value.
I feel that I have my AsyncErrorEvent setup correctly however, but am unsure as to why I still get a massive error in my output window, here is the popup window and code below:My statusEventHandler function
// ☼ --- Handle Status and Errors
function statusEventHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void {
trace("connected is: "+ncConnection.connected);
trace("event.info.level: "+event.info.level);

My movie publishes fine in FP9. When I try to publish in FP10 (so I can use unloadAndStop() ) I get a pile of 1009 errors and many of my Tweenlite instances won't work. Is there something obvious I'm missing here? Are there big differences between FP10 and 9?
View 1 RepliesI need to disable flash from showing these error messages when an error occurs. I am completely aware of the error I'm receiving, and it does not cause my application from working correctly. I simply need to disable these messages. Is there a setting in flash or a flex compiler command or something?
View 2 RepliesI'm working on an external mp3 jukebox for an Interactive Design course and I've almost got it. However, none of my 'stop' buttons appear to stop the song. I have 3 songs, so I have 3 sets of 'play' buttons and should have 3 sets of 'stop' buttons. The way I have it set up is the 'stop' button is onion-skinned behind the 'play' buttons, so once the user presses a play button, the stop button should appear.....but, it does not.
I'm stumped because the play buttons appear to work. It's just the stop buttons do not appear after the play button is selected. Here is what I have in the first frame of the actions layer.
Code:
stop ();
play_btn1.onRelease = function ()
{
stopAllSounds ();
[Code].....
I've imported a video into Flash and have selected a skin for the video player.When I test on my local machine the video controls (skin) display and function as they should.But when I load the upload the .flv to the server, then re-import into Flash and select video deployed on server, publish, upload to server and and test the movie, the video plays fine but the video controllers are not appearing.I am using the html that Flash(CS5) created in the Publish Settings. I've different player skins with the same result.I've tried importing both .flv and .f4v's with the same result.
View 1 RepliesThis all works great until the items have been cached by the browser and then the movies still load but the preloader doesn't get time to animate and just shows for a split second which looks a bit crap.I read somewhere about creating an array to store the paths of all the loaded in swf's so I could then turn on and off the preloader's visibility if that file had been loaded before.This all worked great until I refreshed the browser window then of course the array got reset so all my stored values went and the preloader started to show its self again.
Then I thought could I store the array values in a local shared object but then I thought there's got to be an easier way.What is the best way of doing this?My preloader is just a bog standard 100 frame animation that go to and stops the frame of the percent loaded.

I have a movie clip showing party streamers animating upwords, and another movieclip that has letters falling into place. What I want is for the streamers to be in the background and the letters to be in the foreground.
The AS for the streamers is -
import com.effects.BackgroundEffect;
var effect:BackgroundEffect = new BackgroundEffect ();
effect.bgEffect ("effect28","up",0.3,{zigZag:z = new Array (1, 30)});
[Code].....
I have tried giving the attachmovie click various depths, but that makes no difference. how to make sure the new BackgroundEffect movie clip appears in the background?
I have made an xml video viewer which works great, however I am getting output errors when I run it- [code]...
View 1 Repliesbefore i begin, i should mention my actionscript skills are about a 5/10. that being said, if you point me in the right direction, i should be able to figure it out.
is there a way of capturing actionscript errors in a window.onerror like fashion?
i already have an amf based logging system setup, both the sending and recieving end are working 100%. so getting the message to the server is taken care of. just need to know if its possible to capture the errors.
i would like to capture any and all actionscript errors, and log them so i can debug them if need be.
I'm using the Youtube AS3 Player API to load video's in a Flash Project. I get this really annoying Error when loading the Player swf:
SecurityError: Error #2047: Security sandbox violation: parent: http://www.degoudenglimlach.be/main.swf cannot access http://www.youtube.com/[[IMPORT]]/s.ytimg.com/yt/swf/watch_as3-vflbgr4dW.swf.
I tried adding the following to my code before loading the swf but it doesn't make any difference:
Security.allowDomain("*");
Security.allowDomain("www.youtube.com");
Security.allowDomain("youtube.com");
Security.allowDomain("s.ytimg.com");

What is the actionscript required to close a Flash player window? I want to run a flash movie on my computer that has a button which closes the window, but in Actionscript 3 I cannot add actions to the button.
View 4 RepliesI've created a Flash project that is to be distributed on a CD and launched as a 1024 x 768 Flash player window (so no html, java, etc.). It opens on my Mac just fine, but on my clients PC the top of the Flash Player window is halfway down the screen. Is there anyway to make the window open so it's flush with the top and left of the screen?...and not be in a web browser.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to use the Youtube Chromeless Player (the new AS3 version) in a Flex 4-based project. I'm using the examples provided by Google, but I'm not having any luck. The player loads, but it can't be interacted with. I'm receiving repeated security errors just from mousing over the player:
[Code]....
I've been at this for a few hours now, and haven't had any success. I also can't seem to find any working examples online. Is this new player just not compatible with Flex 4?
I'm a web designer but I just don't use a lot of Flash. I'm sure this will change as time goes on. For now, I'm still using an old version of Flash MX on my Mac - Flash MX version 6. But I don't think that has anything to do with the problem. I designed a flash animation for my wife's website back in 2004 and it has always worked perfectly up until installing the most recent Flash Player 10.0.32.18 just a few days ago. Here's the problem:On my wife's website, we have a special link called "view presentation". You click on that link and a smaller, separate window pops up. Inside of this pop up window is the flash animation (the actual swf file). In the HTML code for the pop up window, I have coded the following javascript:
function closeWin() {
if (document.images) {
self.close();
[code].....
I'm looking for a code to stop all flash animations on a web page when this page/tab is not focused or active. Because this problem causes performance loss at any computer.

View 2 RepliesI've created a startup screen for a CD and have published it to exe format. When it plays from the CD however, it opens in a Flash Player 10 window. I am wanting to create a standalone splash screen without the Flash Player bar along the top.
View 3 RepliesI'm wondering how to configure the size of the flash player window directly in actionscript code. I've searched on google but i can't find a solution.
