ActionScript 3.0 :: Flowing An Instance In Html Text?

I want to flow some MovieClips with special functionality inside a html text area. I get them to appear as desired like this:

The problem is how can I have each instance of "SpecialMovieClip" have unique attributes? I imagine html like this:

<img src="SpecialMovieClip" data="something"/>
And then being able to read the "data" attribute from inside the SpecialMovieClip class.

I'm using TLF to lay out a dictionary entry. It's working fairly well, but I need finer grained control of layout than I'm able to achieve through setting style properties on FlowElements, primarily for horizontal spacing and setting padding on SpanElements independently of their parents.
The solution that seems most promising is separating the various elements of the entry into separate containers and flowing the text through them by progressively adding new containers and ContainerControllers for each new element with size set to their content bounds so that the text will flow into each new container.
This ALMOST works, but the text will only flow correctly into the next container if an extra line break is inserted between the two sections of text that should go to different containers. Without the line break, the containers are sized correctly, but no text displays.
In these examples I've added borders to the container sprites so you can see where they're being drawn. Aside from the line break, the text is exactly the same. The syllable field is a SpanElement inside a ParagraphElement. The pronunciation label and text are separate SpanElements inside another ParagraphElement.

As you can see, the pronunciation doesn't show unless a line break is added after the text, but the alignment is then off. No combination of line breaks seems to align them correctly.
Any ideas? Are these bugs in TLF? Should I try a different method? I would really like to have all the text selectable as one unit, and I love the better rendering and control that TLF offers, but I also need the layout flexibility. I suppose it's possible that I could hack something together like this with line breaks and positioning offsets, but it certainly wouldn't be pretty (or maintainable).

I am inputting text from an xml file into dynamic text boxes; I have static text boxes as titles of each.
making the dynamic text boxes expand if the xml text is of a larger size & moving the static text boxes so they don't start getting over written.
The code Ive used to put the text into the dynamic boxes is very simple:

I have seen this done before but cant find any tuts on how to do it. Or even any knowledge on how to program it. What I want to do is use streaming video ini 3 flash banners that are linked together as the background of a site. Also I would like to take the standard banner size 728x69, 250x300 and 160x200 and have the animation run between them all.

I'm doing this project right now where I want to simulate fluid flowing through pipes. The pipes have 90* corners and sometimes there are forks in the pipes (splitting it into two pipes). Attempting this with tweened animations seemed to be too complex, so I'm using setInterval and duplicateMovieClip to do it.
I had this idea to use "redirectors," movieClips would redirect any movieClip that hit them. For instance, if I have a ball_mc moving horizontally and it hits a redirectUp_mc movieClip, the ball_mc's direction changes to "up". Of course, there will be many ball_mc clips... and as I start to get more complicated paths, the number of corners increases, too. That causes the number of hitTests (to check if the ball_mc clips are hitting the redirectors) to skyrocket... unless I can find a more efficient way to do it, that is.
Is there a way to check if I've hit any instance of the "redirectUp" movieClip? That would cut the number of hitTests down to 4M, which is way better than M*N (where M is the number of ball_mc clips on the stage, and N is the number of redirector_mc clips). Or, is there a better event model to use than hitTest?

I have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

what I"m doing. I have a game with several stages. When the user presses the button for "stage 1", I would like the background to change. When the user presses the button for stage 2, I would like the Html background to change again. I understand using ExternalInterface with Javascript is the way to do this but I'm at a dead end. I have created a textArea element but cannot display my HTML content. If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. Since this is for a mobile app I would prefer to use the textArea element as recommended by Adobe.Here is the MXML code for the textArea. All I get is the border and no content displayed.

Now say I want to fill these text fields with text that I have in an array and I want to do this with a loop, how do I do this? There's a movieclip, lets call it myMovieClip. Inside this movieclip there is a dynamic text box, lets call this one myText. Now to change the text within this text box that is embedded in a movieclip, it's simply:

However, what if there is a variable, called myVariable that stores the instance name of the text box. With only one text box I know it's pointless, but for the sake of example, lets leave it simple. So, suddenly the code looks like:

Does creating a new instance of an Object that uses an identical name to an older instance, delete the previous instance? Or should the original instance be deleted first? The code uses a ridiculous amount of XML vars. Isn't it less memory intensive to parse the XML and save the properties to an Object, and then delete the XML Object, rather than keep the XML Object around and reference it's child nodes directly? Is it better form to break up a huge XML file (>600lines/3200vars) into smaller chunks?

I was trying to send 4 paragraphs to a .swf element. I have no idea how to what to do. I have a mc (fStrip) which looks like a piece of filmstrip with thumbnail images in it. I want this mc to move when the users mouse is positioned over it, but I only want it to move only along it's x-axis and in a direction opposite that of the mouse. And I want it to move or flow smoothly.
I've been trying to figure this out (see my lame attempt below) but without much luck.

I have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text.Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.

I'm trying to use a dynamic text field to pull in html text that contains a bulleted list. Easy enough, that works. But the bullets dont take on the color assigned to the field. I've tried putting it in the html text and also using NewTextFormat and neither work. Can someone help me. This should be a simple fix, but I can't find it... I just want my text and bullets to both be white.

I am trying to implement htmlText for a text component as the returned string is in html format (with the html tags etc). If I put a text=.... i get the full text, but with the tags (which i want converted to html). So i use htmlText=.... and it formats it fine, but cuts half the text from the variable. The text im supposed to get back has tons of html tags, and maybe its cutting it somewhere because of the tag its not able to escape... How do i fix this?

I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

Is there any way I can embed HTML in flash? I know I can do this with text boxes but is there any other way I can do it? If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

It's what this image describes:For some reason, I cannot use bold tags to set the TLF text to bold, even though both the regular and bold fonts are embedded.so that the webpage that embeds this movie can call its function (otherwise the movie itself will be wrapped by TLF).his is not exactly a question since there is an obvious solution to this. Just set the htmlText as something like "<font face='Myriad Web Pro'><b>BOLD</b></font>" and you're done.hs issue is, why does it not render the bold text without the font tag in the first place, if I have already set the font of the TLF text in the PI?
