what I"m doing. I have a game with several stages. When the user presses the button for "stage 1", I would like the background to change. When the user presses the button for stage 2, I would like the Html background to change again. I understand using ExternalInterface with Javascript is the way to do this but I'm at a dead end. I've tried just loading images onto the stage, but that was too much of a memory problem. I'm using swf object: my code so far"
Trying to code my graphic design portfolio and wish to to have embedded flash movie with thumbnails, change the html background to the specific clicked image.
Have been searching and read there is a way to have the flash button talk to javascript to change the current background image.
I am quite new to AS3 and I have never worked with classes, so I am encountering a couple of problems.
I'd like to center a movieclip, have it so that it doesn't scale. And then I'd like to add a background color that stays there no matter how I scale the browser.
Can someone please explain me this in babysteps? Since I don't know how to implement a class and make it work with my fla.

I have 2 instances of a button wich is red and has a white label I have to edit the buttons so one button is red, and the other is green I was doing this, but when applied Also the title of label goes green instead of being white...

With the aid of Dreamweaver CS4 I've manged to create a temp 'under construction website'. This website has a fullscreen .swf looping in the background.
I have made 4 of these very short looping .swf files.Is it possible, by adding one simple button on the screen, for the user click and the next .swf background starts playing? So basically this button acts a 'next' button, and each times it's clicked the next .swf starts to play.

I've seen a tutorial for changing the background inside of flash based on buttons to click. However, these colors were palettes and not of backgrounds such as jpeg. What I'd like to do is to create 3 buttons and place them on my flash website. These three buttons allow the user to click on them thus changing the background. So if you're visiting the about page and click one of these buttons, I don't want the user to go back to the home page after clicking.
Ive made a button (Convert to symbol > Button)and set that up, then made a new layer for a dynamic text box and gave that the name btn_txt so my plan is to just have instances of that button and be able to change the text through actionscript2this is my code and i thought it would work but nothing happens

I've put together a slideshow in AS3. When the user clicks on an image in the slideshow, I'm using FlashLightboxInjector to bring up a Lightbox version of the image they just clicked on. In my AS3, each time I add a thumbnail into the slideshow, ExternalInterface.call is supposed to call a function within FlashLightboxInjector that appends the image onto a <div>. The div is used as a reference to Lightbox to know what the image path/title are.

This works fine when I don't use a background-image in the body css. However, when I do use a background image, none of the myFlashLightboxInjector.append() functions are called or the appends aren't functioning correctly because they don't show up in Firebug, there is just an empty div. So, when I click on a thumbnail, no Lightbox image comes up.
this may be a basic thing, but i couldn't find an answer by serching internet. and I want to add multiple buttons, not just this one. I figured out by trial and error that I couldn't just consecutively list the instances, I also found I couldn't just replicate the code and change the instance names. I just need to know how to go about having multiple buttons/clips.
How can I change the text of a button instance without affect the other button text? I belive an AS aproach would solve it but I don't know how to do it.
AdobeTV showed a way to allow Flash to "talk" to an HTML page via javascript using the ExternalInterface method. There seems to be a catch. You need to use the ID of the swf in the parameters to have it all fit together and you can only put the ID="swf" into the IE section of the Dreamweaver generated javascript or into the non-IE section. Putting it in both didn't work and the author mentioned only putting in one of them specifically.Is there a way to do this that would work in both sets of generated Javascript?

Is there a solution to have the background audio/music play across multiple page on a website, WITHOUT restarting on every page load.The website currently uses a frameset, but I'm looking for an alternative.
I can open a new window using window.open() in ExternalInterface.call() but then I want to be able to write contents to the new window. Since, I cannot get the reference of the window back from window.open() call, I am not able to do anything to the window once it is opened.
I do not have any control over the HTML in which my swf is displayed.
Has anyone been in this situation before?
Update: After a few hours of trial and error I found you can get out of this situation by storing your window reference globally and referring to the same global reference whenever you need to access the new window.
I am making a new flash website and i stack on the as3 part.My site have a menu like all the site do.Now on the site load there is a background picture.When you press one of the menu buttons, the background image will change to this button specified image.But all that in an animation of fade in and out.My problem that i have everything but i cant know which image was before it changes to the buttons specified one. I placed a movie clip instance inside a button, and I want this movie clip to play when the button is released. I'm using this code on the frame containing the button:

question: is it possible to click on the button in aaa.html and have the action occur in bbb.html? (for example, clicking the button in aaa.html will load a swf in bbb.html)
Does Flash Player 9's BlendMode ability transpose to normal bitmap data (JPG, PNG, etc.) outside or beneath the SWF? I have a movieclip that I'm trying to blend with an HTML background like Photoshop. It currently doesn't react to the options I've tried.
