ActionScript 3.0 :: Gedtting Number Variables To Show In Field
Jun 1, 2010
I'm starting my progression from AS2 to AS3 and am running into a glitch that has me tugging at my hair.I'm basically trying to create a button that will generate a random number and place it into a text field. However, when I try to run the script as shown, It hits me with a 1067 Implicit Coercion error message.However, if I run the currently commented out String variable test it works fine but when I try to to run the Number variable code it errors out on me.The random number generation code is working (based on the trace) but for some reason won't show up in the text field (named myText).[code]
And in the stage i have 3 dynamic text boxes. The 1 one has the variable number1 the secound one has the variable number2. But how do i do so in the third box it says 20? I want it to substract number1 and number 2 and show that in the box.
when I started my movieclip was simple...its an info popup that comes up when someone clicks another movieclip on the stage...anyhow, when it comes up it looks like a projector screen that is being pulled down...there is also a number in the top right that is supposed to be scrolling...there are two problems with my popup...
1) the scrolling number does not show up...
2) the content in the info popup refuses to stay invisible until the "screen" is pulled all they way down...
the first link shows what the scrolling number is supposed to look like...I did not change anything regarding the scrolling number when I altered the content to fit and look decent in the info popup..
I have 1 form text field,dynamic called txt2, I have the combo box called cb_instance that i'm trying to get the value selected from the combobox to show in the text field.I can get the value from the event object using trace but can't seem to see how to get it to show in the text field called txt2.d.
var cbox:Object = new Object(); cbox.change = function (cb_evenObj:Object) { txt2.text = cb_evenObj.target.selectedItem.label;[code].....
I would like to make a dynamic field where the number to make a count of 0 to a number that will come from a variable.I am researching several hours and can not find.An example is the preloader, we have the percentage below the bar that has that type of field, plus the preloader I have is based on getBytesTotal (), and getBytesLoaded ();But in my case I'll just have a variable with the final value, and I want to show that the field from 0 to this value.
I have animated button inside movie clip. On rollover, button zooms in and rotates. It even swaps depths (that took me a while). However, if I have 10 buttons on the screen, one of them, and only one, will not rotate, and will not zoom, but everything else works. The kicker? The button is never the same. To see what I mean... I have the site staged on this [URL] clicking on the number will show a picture
very little code here (as you can imagine) on rollOver { _root.stopandgoto(frame#); x=0 x=x+2 _root.instance.swapdepths(x) }
I am working on an application that allows user to copy and paste content into a text field. The problem I'm running across is that when the user paste something with a tab in it, the tab is not shown in the text field.[code]...
I'm using an editable datagrid where the user is typing in their data. When they click outside the datagrid it doesn't show the last value they entered. The value is there and if you click on that field again it will show up. If you click outside the field for a second time, this time the value stays displayed. How can I get the value to show up the first time the datagrid looses focus?[code]
I have drop down list if i select the Bank draft or money order it should show the description in one of the lable. it is showing now. But i want to display the description if one of the other box value is greater than 1500, actaully there are two field one field has value for Security deposit amount and second is drop down security deposit type in this if the value is > 1500 the description should show.

ActionScript Code: IncludeInfoItems = function (bool) { if (!bool) {
having a prob with my code. I'm trying to show a hidden dynamic text field with at button, but no luck I can make it work, if the field is'nt hidden, but not the idea. It should first show when you hit the button, if you know what I mean I'm working in Flash CS5Layerscript:_root.eventtext._visible = false (hide my textfield)
I have a dynamic text on the stage which gets updated (shows numbers) when some buttons are pressed.I just need to know if it is possible to show the first dynamic textfield in another dynamic textfield.Lets say the first dynamic textfield called "price" and the second one called "price2". when a button is pressed, the first dynamic textfield "price" will show a number. is it possible to show whatever is shown in the "price" in "price2" ?
I'm trying to figure out Flash CS5 on my own, and this should be easy, but... All I want to do is validate that the text entered in a text field is a number when a button is clicked. It can be a positive, negative, or decimal, but no letters or symbols.
i have a dynamic text field on the stage with the instance name of "inputBox". On the same frame i have the following code...
ActionScript Code: var firstNumber:Number = 3; var secondNumber:Number = 5;
[code]....
the above code works perfectly and it does trace back the result. However I'm confused on how i can put the result in the dynamic text field i have on stage. Can i use the instance name to do this...
I have tried and tried but i cannot get a number to force show 2 decimal places.I have lots of different buttons and selection boxes that output a different value for 'sizePrice' and 'effectPrize'. An example can be seen below:
Code: if (sizeSelectionBox.value=="size1") { sizePrice=67.20; calcTotalPrice();
[code]...
I need totalCost to always show 2 decimal places so if it is 60 it needs to say 60.00, if it is 67.2 it needs to say 67.20
Im trying to make a script that show numbers counting to a certain number. Need some help. I want to start at 0 and then counting up to for example 52.
I have inserted a TextArea component and i can add text normally by changing it in the parameters tab. but i was wondering if anyone knew the code so i can make it show and input text field ? (call a .txt file in to the TextArea component)
I have taken a dynamic text field with HTML property = true;
Some of the characters are working fine. But some of the special characters are not. For example the angle symbol "∠" is not working.
I found out the Decimal code for angle symbol (∠) and used it. It is working fine if I don't embed the font but when we embed the font (even with all the characters that flash support), it is not working.
I am creating a dynamic text field and "next" button. When the movie is played, the number "1" will be displayed on dynamic text field. When the "next" button is pressed, the dynamic text field will display 2 and so on...
I'm writing a scrolling shooter game and have a dynamic text field that holds the game score. Running inside an ENTER_FRAME event listener, it updates every frame. By tracing the variable "score" I get the correct numbers showing up in the output tab, but on screen, I only see the number 2. It doesn't matter what position in the number it is (ie: 20, or 10372, or 521), only that digit will show up. If there is no number 2 in the score, the field only shows the word "Score: "
The variable is declared as such:
var score:int = 0;
The text field is called scoreCard and is set to "Classic Text" and Dynamic Text" and it is 638 pixles wide (almost the entire width of the stage).
Here is the code for updating the scoreCard:
scoreCard.text = 'Score: ' + score; trace(score);
The trace was simply put in to see if the score was being tallied up correctly, which it is.
I have also tried eliminating 'Score: ' and simply used:
I have the need to populate three text fields with a random number in each.How do i wire up each field to retrieve the results of the random number function I've written in Actionscript?
I'm working with an input text field that has to contain a max number of characters (90... I set this on the properties panel) and a max number of lines: 6 but i don't know how to set this property.... I've searched, and all I could find was the numLines property, but it doesn't allow to specify the number of lines iI need my text to have...
On my stage I have a dynamic text field (instance name = lives).
In my actionscript I have created a number variable called livesnum. And then beneath that I'm setting the textfields value to be the livesnum variable but I get the following error:
1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Number to an unrelated type String.
My actionscript is as follows :
var livesnum:Number = 4; //Amount of lives lives.text = livesnum;
How would I achieve setting the textfield as the numeric value of the variable?
