I am trying to create a website that has a DIV layer above my flash movie.
I can visually do this, by changing the z-index of the flash div layer so it is below the banner but when I do this, I cannot interact with my flash movie.
To my knowledge, this is a problem in Firefox, it is fine in Internet Explorer.
I'm new to Flash, but I understadn the basics. Unfortuently, I may have gotten in over my head with this project. I have four years if crime data for my school. I want to make an interactive graph where a user can click a crime, (check box) and that crime's change over four years will appear. (by change I mean how many crimes of that type occurred in the last four years.) I don't know how to do this, mainly because I'm not for sure how to layer the lines on the graph.
View 2 RepliesI am creating a touchcreen (LCD) for a property development.We I am having a problem is on the interactive map.Picture a map with icons all over it.When you touch the icon a image of that area of the map pops up.you then click on a X on the top right to go back to the map.I have probably dont this incorrect and those only because I dont have much knowledge.I have create the map on the lowest layer.The icons (same graphic - eye) are on there own layers.I converted the icon to a BUTTON and added the pop up on the DOWN.The problem I have is when you touch the icon on a layer other than the top layer the top layer icon shows on the screen (ontop of the popup).

That has been fine, but now I want to loop it and I usually put my actions in the top layer. Will this cause a problem? Am I better off just putting my loop action on the last key frame of the clcikTag layer?
View 3 RepliesIm creating a program that is designed to allow the used to select 3 pictures (movie clips) and print them off on a single peace of paper.
The program works by allowing the user to select 3 graphics (the graphics are actually instructions for various exercises) and then moving the desired movieclips onto the stage. This all happens on a layer named "Content"
So far the program will allow the user to select the movieclips and will move them into place on the Content layer as well as move smaller versions of the pictures into a preview box the only thing it does not do is print. (the most important bit)

I want the oval to travel from the upper left down to cover up the type. When I create the second layer, create the oval, and choose a distant frame for the "end" of the oval's positioning, my type in the first layer disappears as soon as I press F6 on that second layer. Why? Why is it nuking my first layer?
View 3 RepliesI have a container MovieClip called Drags where I can drag stamps (other MovieClips)--they are added to the Drags container via addChild. I have a second container MovieClip above that one (display order-wise) call Paint that contains a bmp, and some sprites used for adding a layer of paint.
My question is this: I need to be able to click on the Paint layer when I am above a draggable MovieClip and trigger the MouseEvent for the correct object to drag it around, but the item must always remain below the Paint layer.
I'm trying to do a little comic comedy type video in Flash. I've done an outline sketch with the pen tool of my first character, now I want to color it BUT I want to keep the colors and the outline sketch separated on two different layers. Is there a way I can select the path (outline) on layer A and then colorize it with the bucket tool on layer B? The problem I'm having is that every object I select it automatically jumps to that corresponding layer.
One reason why I want to do it this way is I still want to continue working freely on the outline sketch since it's not fully finished, so that I just can blend the colors out and keep working on the outline, at the same time I want to color it while I go just to see where it's going and to make sure that I'm not wasting my time unnecessarily with trying to do a outline just to find out that it won't work out at the end.

Is it possible to add layers, re-order layers, move movieclips from layer to layer or specify which layer a duplicate movieclip appears on at runtime with AS3?I am aware of the depth properties and the functions associated with that but it would be easier to have a concept of a layer because I am dealing with masks.I have a nasty feeling I'm gonna be told that layers don't really exist within an swf and that depths and setmask are all there is to work with.

I've built it in Photoshop, but I need to make it come to life. The user should be able to grab the slider and drag it left or right and for the numbers to change appropriately. I'm creating an interactive gauge in Flash. The gauge has two needles and these needles need to be controlled by two text input boxes. That way, whenever a number is typed into the box, the needles respond accordingly.

I have been asked to create an interactive flash project where the user would be able to click on a main image and depending on what part of the image they click on, a movie clip plays, then goes back to the main image.
I am sure this is basic, but I have been researching, watching tutorials, etc for a week now and can't seem to get it to work. I am by no means a Flash expert and have really never worked in it. I do more Photoshop and Illustrator-type work. So Actionscript is new to me and really the whole interface is as well.
Would you all be kind enough to help me out? I am going to need some detailed explaination.
We have used Enliven before to create interactive 3d apps for the web. Enliven uses the Viewpoint Media Player to work. We would like to be able to get the same results using Flash.
Is there a 3rd Party software out there that allows you to create interactive 3d objects and animations in Flash?

Creating a touch screen kiosk and need the gui to time-out to a movie clip (screen saver). Any tips on getting this started? I want the movie to stop when display is touched. I know it sounds like a screen saver but within the interactive using Flash exe (no web).

In the image below you see a 3D model. It's just an example to explain what I have in mind. You see a red disc 1, a blue disc 2 and a pushbutton. The idea is that the blue disc rotates (for example 45 degrees) compared to the red disc when you push the button. Is that possible in a 3D model that you also can turn around with your mouse?
I can make the models in Rhinoceros 4.0, that's no problem. Importing the model into flash is also no problem (papervision). But how can I add some interactives to the 3D model like a pushbutton and a slidecard?
I'm currently having an issue creating a set of buttons that are supposed to turn individual layers on and off. The layers I have are: fishing spots, facilities, trails, map elements, an aerial photo, and parking lots. It is giving error #s 1119 and 1120. View 9 RepliesI've been tasked with building an interactive map of all the states in the US and just wondering what the best way is to go about this? I know I could build this fairly easily in Flash but one of the requirements is for it to work on an iPhone so obviously that rules Flash out!
Requirements:
Must work across all browsers and handheld devices.
Must be updatable via Wordpress.
Must include a small info box that pops up when each state is hovered.
The look of the map will be designed by us (we'd want complete control of this as we're graphic designers!) so this also rules out a custom Google map.
I've done a search on here and found two examples, the first is exactly the kind of thing we want but is done in flash - example I don't think I'll be able to create popup bubbles when hovering over each state. An example I like is - Transmit's feature section. How was this built and how could I recreate something like that?

Any way to make a video as a transition for a flash movie? What I mean is, say you have an image of a city, and you have a bunch of clickable areas in that image.
