ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading External SWF Into Shell?
Feb 27, 2009
I am struggling with actionscript 3. I need simply to load an external. swf into my "shell" .swf. both are actionscript 3. When I have the following actionscript in frame 1.
loadMovie("mymovie.swf");
I get the following error
1180: Call to a possibly undefined method loadMovie.
I am loading external .swf files into a shell, when one .swf finishes playing it loads in the next movie. This works fine in AS2, but in AS3 the previous .swf does not get replaced, it remains on the stage.
I am trying to load one swf into another. In the former I have a preloader, and a mc to load the content. I am getting "Scene 1, Layer 'actions', Frame 1 1084: Syntax error: expecting rightbrace before end of program." Here is my code.
i'm having a bit of a problem at the minute, i'm trying to get an external SWF to load into a shell i've created. The way i'd like it to work is that a preloader loads the shell, then once thats done i want the external swf home page to load in afterwards (which also has a preloader)
I know the swf's work all right as i've created buttons that when clicked load the external files, so no problem there.
The Slider (and all UIComponents) rely on direct access to the 'stage' - which is denied due to recent AIR 1.5 security restrictions. This restriction prevents any UIComponent from working when loaded into an AIR app as a local SWF. The parentSandboxBridge cannot return a reference to the stage.
I am having a problem with preloaders showing up in my flex apps. I never had this problem when developing flash apps so I got the idea to use a flash app as a shell with the sole purpose of showing a preloader while the flex app loads. I am not sure how to do this though, and I also need to ba able to pass the FlashVars from the shell flash app to the flex app.
I want to create a basic GUI for a touchscreen panel running linux grml with fluxbox so I'm very restricted. The Gnash player is also available. Is there a way to call shell/bash commands inside a Flash file (swf)?I want to create a GUI to control the mplayer and volume with the touchscreen... If it's not possible with Flash, what do you think is the easiest way?
I'm working on an existing modular project that was built in PureMVC. Instead of converting everything over to RobotLegs, I want to create a new module using RobotLegs and plug it into the pureMVC shell. Currently, when the module loads, I get the following flash error: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable IMediatorMap is not defined.
Inititally, I thought it was because my module needed a pureMVC Mediator to call the pureMVC StartupCommand to get things "hooked up" and THEN create the RobotLegs' Context. However, that didn't work and I'm still getting the error.
There is a Shell and a Module. The Shell loads the Module. Module is never run without the Shell. Because there will be more modules, I decided to put common classes to Shell.
1. Compiled Shell with -link-report objShell_Extern.xml
2. Compiled Module with -load-externs obj<ShellProject>_Extern.xml Module size shrank from 90 KB to 2,05 KB.
3. Added 5 filters to Module:
import flash.filters.*; tf.filters = [new GlowFilter(), new GradientGlowFilter(), new DropShadowFilter(), new BevelFilter(), new BlurFilter() ];
Module size grew to 2,15 KB.
4. Added 5 filters to Shell (same code as above), recompiled it, then recompiled Module.Module size still at 2,15 KB.
5. Tried getDefinitionByName //import flash.filters.*; commented out var GlowFilter:Class = Class(getDefinitionByName("GlowFilter")); var GradientGlowFilter:Class = Class(getDefinitionByName("GradientGlowFilter"));
[code]....
Error #1065 GlowFilter not initialized, Module size grew to 2,19 KB. Deleting some, but not all filters is decreasing size, so it's not the getDefinitonByName that takes 0,14 KB (2,19 - 2,05 without filters).
1. Do I understand the idea of load externs, or does it work only with specific classes? Why it doesn't work with filters?
2. What did I screw up with getDefinitionByName and is it a new feature because of it's use like in link below?
I have a movieclip clip that plays when the movie starts, the movieclip is a visual assets that show's that the application is loading some information but it's not showing any loading progress, just playing while the assets are loaded.I created a for loop that will load the assets using a simple loader, and then when the object is loaded the application push the object to an array.Problem is that when the loading starts all the animation that i have on screen stops until the loading is finished.The whole point is that the animation will play while it's loading.
I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:
[FMX] I am having trouble loading an XML file on an external server into my flash movie when it is uploaded. The data loads in fine when the flash file is on my local computer with the xml file on a server. As soon as the flash file is uploaded the XML data will not load in.
Given a "run configuration" in Eclipse, I want to print out the associated shell command that would be used to run it.
For example: Right now, in Eclipse, if I click "play" it will run: mvn assembly:directory -Dmaven.test.skip=true
I don't see that command, I just know that's what the IDE must run, at some point. However, some of the other run configurations are far more complex with long classpaths and virtual machine options and, frankly, sometimes I have no idea what the equivalent shell command would be (particularly when it comes to Flex).
There must be some way to access the shell command that would be associated with a "Run Configuration" in Eclipse/Flex Builder. This information must be available, which leads me to believe someone has written a plugin to display it. Or maybe there's already an option built into Eclipse for accessing this.
So is there a way to, essentially, convert an Eclipse run configuration into a shell command? (for context only: I'm asking because I'm writing a bash script that automates everything I do, during development--from populating the Database all the way to opening Firefox and clearing the cache before running the web app.So every command I run from the IDE needs to exist in the script. Some are tricky to figure out.)
I used to do this fine with AS2 and now i'm struggling to get it to work in AS3.my code is as follows:
PW1.addEventListener( MouseEvent.CLICK,loader1 ); //==================== PS function ============================================= var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
I have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.
(for this code, check the mcBandPreloader in de .fla file)
Code: var imageLoader:Loader; var RespJpeg:String = "images/arch1Proj.jpg" function loadImage(url:String):void {

Here the problem is that I can't type html in my external txt file. (I did checked the html button in Dynamic Text Properties. What am I doing wrong here?
I'm loading a external swf into a movie everything is fine with that. The only problem is that its loading only a part of it. Does anybody know why? Also, this swf is a mp3 player with streaming. The streaming part works but the playback doesn't.If i start only the mp3 player by itself it's working.here is the fla for the player
I'm trying to load a SWF movie into a target movieclip called blankmc. The SWF movie is loaded from an absolute URL (eg. [URL]/img/20042005113934movie3.swf ) My Loading Progress code fails to detect the SWF file size. However the same code works perfectly for a JPG! Essentially the .getBytesLoaded() and .getBytesTotal fail to work. Why is this and how can I get it to work for loading SWFs?
Specifically, I am building a flash page that loads external swf files and inside some of the external swf files, I would like to add audio and flash video (flv) streaming from the Flaash Media Server. In some of the external swf files, (using a FLVPlayback component) when you press a button on the main timeline to unload the current playing swf the audio/video continues to play after loading the new external swf file.So I believe that my approach is all wrong and I should be working to dynamically load the .mp3 and.flvs in the external swf ... my questiion is how to unload those assets when loading the new external swf
Lets say I have Main.swf and sub.swf, and I wanna load sub when I press a button from Main, but sub.swf has its own external class file attached, so here is the problem, when I load sub using loader class and I would get this message from the output panel:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at subScript()
seems loader class can not access sub.swf's external class when sub is being loaded.
Lets say I have subgallery.swf file that loads jpeg images. And I have gallery.swf file that loads subgallery.swf.The jpeg images and both swf files are in the same folder.When I test gallery.swf it loads subgallery.swf but subgallery.swf doesn't load images. When testing subgallery.swf alone, it loads jpeg files.Is there any limitation or setting preventing external swfs loading other content?
I created a site using Kirupa's external .swf loading tutorial. Now in one of my externally loaded .swf's, I am loading another external .swf. I've gotten this to work fine, but the second external .swf (loaded into the first) contains buttons that will swap this second external .swf with another external .swf. I can't seem to get the AS references to the variables set up correctly in order to swap the swf's. The initial .swf loads fine, but the button control gets complicated inside it. It sounds rather confusing, so I've included a link to the .fla's and .swf's below.
[URL]
The file structure:
-band.swf load's profiles_main.swf
-The buttons in profiles_main.swf are trying to load chris.swf (swapping it entirely with profiles_main.swf)
I have subgallery.swf file that loads jpeg images. And I have gallery.swf file that loads subgallery.swf.The jpeg images and both swf files are in the same folder.When I test gallery.swf it loads subgallery.swf but subgallery.swf doesn't load images. When testing subgallery.swf alone, it loads jpeg files.Is there any security limitation or setting preventing external swfs loading other content?
everything was going fine on a website project I've been working on, until yesterday. I'll try to explain the whole scenario first, and I'll put the code in here too so anyone can try to figure out what is wrong. Here's the breakdown of the site:
1) There is a MAIN SWF file that plays an intro and then stops on the last frame with the "Main" Navigation buttons.
2) Inside the Root folder where the MAIN SWF resides, there is another folder called "swfs" which contains six main external navigation pages, as well as another folder called "galleries" which contains additional external swf files for six gallery pages.
3) On one of the layers of the MAIN SWF, there is a movie clip called "mySWFLoadingClip" that the "Main" Navigation buttons load and unload the external swf pages onto. These all work perfectly. The problem start on the next step. This is the code I used for the navigation buttons on the MAIN SWF timeline:
[Code]...
If anyone can help me figure this out I would be really grateful. This is a very important project and the deadline is coming up very soon. Please help me figure out how to load an External SWF onto the main time line and then load an additional external swf from within the first external swf. I'm stumped.

I am having a problem with loading external swf.Everything seems fine but when I preview it it only flashes the FLV symbol at me. I am working in AS 2.0.What does this mean and what do I do to fix it
I know how to load an external swf file with the following AS3
[Code]...
However, I want to load an external swf that is triggered by a mouse click. I have a button with an instance name if photogallery_btn and I want to apply AS3 to this so when this button is clicked, an external swf is loaded. Can some one please show me how to right this code?
Also, how do you unload a external swf? For example, say I get the code working for the photogallery_btn so when it's clicked, an external swf file is loaded. I would like to know how to unload another external swf file once the photogallery_btn is clicked.
