ActionScript 3.0 :: "MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER" On Irregular Shape?

Apr 10, 2011

In my design I've got a button which is styled in a unique shape. It ties in directly with another button. The simplest way to describe the button is a regular square split into two diagonal shapes (except the hypotenuse is curved).Well, I said Button, I've actually created the button as a MovieClip.Inside the movieclip I use code resembling the following:

ActionScript Code:
this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, myFunction);
function myFunction(event:MouseEvent) {

[code]......

Actionscript 3.0 :: Delay On MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER?

May 5, 2010

I have a problem with a mouseover-effect. I have a lot of different objects on my scene. Whenever the mouse is rolled over one of these objects, they will appear a bit larger until the mouse is moved again. I have made it work like this (and it functions):

package
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;[code]........

My problem now is, that I want to add another roll over effect:If the user rolls over one of the objects, it will appear a bit larger until he moves his mouse away, but if the user does not move the mouse for more than one second, a "pop-up window" (=New roll_over mouseEvent) has to appear, while the object STILL appears emphasised.So, how do I add a second roll over effect, which appears 1 second later?(the second roll over effect should be a png-image)

Actionscript 3 :: MouseEvent ROLL_OVER/ROLL_OUT Alternatives?

Feb 5, 2011

I have a custom cursor and I want it to change when you highlight a MovieClip, and return to its default value when the MovieClip is not highlighted anymore.I've used MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, and MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT. The result isn't very smooth and there is a small delay to when the cursor changes. Also sometimes if you move the mouse fast enough the cursor won't change at all.

ActionScript 2.0 :: BitmapData Onto Irregular Shape?

Dec 10, 2007

How can I attachBitmap to an irregular shape?I load a pattern into my movie (pattern.jpg), it is a square image 500x500. I want to draw that image onto an irregular shape. If I do the following it simply shows the large square overtop of my shape. The pattern isn't actually applied to my shape.

Code:
var bitmap:BitmapData = new BitmapData(500, 500, true, 0x00000000);
myShape.attachBitmap(bitmap,1,"auto",true);
bitmap.draw(pattern);

ActionScript 1/2 :: HitTest For Rectangular MC Over Irregular Shape

Jan 15, 2010

In my app, a user must drag and release a rectangular mc object (rectx) over an irregular shape within another mc object (irregx). There are 13 rect/irreg pairs. Each obj shares an AS2 file that checks whether rectx is over irregx, and proceeds _only_ if the check is true. The script uses hitTest, on mouse release, to grab the number (x) of the rectx being dragged and checks whether it's over irregx. Right now, the check comes back true when rectx is _anywhere_ inside irregx's bounding box whether it's over the actual image or not.

I've noticed that, when the (unpressed) mouse rolls over any irregx, it's oblivious to irregx's rectangular bounding box. It only reacts when it reaches the edge of the irregular shape inside, toggling from arrow to hand at the image edges. Since the mouse knows where the irregx image boundary is, is there a simple way to tap the mouse's 'eyesight' to verify whether rectx is over the correct irregx shape (meaning not just within the bounding box, within the shape inside it)? This can't be that hard.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Draw A Line That Goes Around An Irregular Shape?

Apr 21, 2011

I am trying to draw a line that goes from point A to Point B. Along the way there are objects (of any shape) that force the line to go around them in order to reach point B. It cant go through them. This is like directing someone using a map. You can only draw a line between the blocks / along the streets.

I tried that using collision tests. Fine, I can now find the coordinates at that instance, but I still cant get the line to go around the object before proceeding to point B.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make The Irregular Shape Of The Silo The Hit Area?

I'm using actionscript to place a bitmap into an empty movieclip like so:

var bitmap_mc:MovieClip = new MovieClip;
addChild( bitmap_mc );
bitmap_mc.addChild( bitmapPNG );

bitmapPNG is an irregular shaped png of a person, but when I use the movieclip as a button, the hit area is the square shape of the movieclip, not the silo. How do I make the irregular shape of the silo the hit area, and not the surrounding square of the moviclip?

ActionScript - Display Flash Video In Irregular Quadrilateral Shape

Jun 20, 2011

I'm a novice to Flash and I've been trying unsuccessfully to display video with defined irregular dimensions (practically a quadrilateral with various edge size). Would that be possible? I see that there are only several customization options:
1. Positioning in a plane defined by (x,y) that corresponds to the position of the top left corner of the video.
2. Width and height.
If it's not possible in flash, are there any other options with programmable features like that of flash?

Flash :: AS3 MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE Event Stops Responding After MouseEvent.CLICK Call?

Nov 6, 2010

I have several stage event handlers to enable mouseovers over several dynamically generated moviecilps on the stage that then change their alpha to indicate the mouse is over that particular mc... fairly trivial (mcOver handler). Additionally, I also want to know what MC is clicked, so I update a public variable (public var activemc:Number) with the ID of the dynamic movieclip when the mouse is over it (using a hitTest to check, which is why the EventListener is added to stage and not to the MC), which is checked in the mcClicked handler:This is in the constructor:

//stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, startDrawing);
//stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, stopDrawing);
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mcOver);[code]....

However, the mouseover behaviour (alpha 0 when over, alpha 1 when out) stops working as soon as I click on any movieclip on the stage, and the mcClicked ID checking (below) stops working completely. I don't know if this is to do with focus:

private function mcClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
myTextField.text = String(activemc); // activemc is a public var:Number with the movieclip //ID
}

I then tried adding the event handler for the stage mouse_move again and this gets the mouseover working again but only for 1 more click, after which it stops again:

private function mcClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
myTextField.text = String(activemc); // activemc is a public var:Number with the movieclip //ID
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mcOver);

Actionscript 3 :: Cancelling MouseEvent.CLICK After MouseEvent.MOUSE-DOWN

Aug 11, 2011

I have a MOUSE_DOWN handler that creates a CLICK event listener on a child object. Naturally, as soon as you release the mouse button, if you happen to be over the child object, the CLICK event fires.I was disappointed to discover that event.stopImmediatePropagation doesn't interrupt the CLICK event from registering the MOUSE_DOWN as part of its detection cycle. It makes sense that it doesn't but still... disappointing.A MouseEvent.CLICK consists of detecting a MOUSE_DOWN on the object and then if it's followed by a MOUSE_UP without leaving the object, he event fires. I had hoped that by cancelling the MOUSE_DOWN event, it would clear that out of the CLICK buffer, but no such potatoes, alas.This could all be handled with a flag and a couple more MOUSE_UP and MOUSE_DOWN handlers, but dang, smacks of effort

ActionScript 3.0 :: Unwanted 'blinking' On Roll_Over?

Nov 11, 2009

Basically I'm creating two (can be more or less) rows of layered MC treaten as Buttons.In each MC there is a small thumbnail hidden behind a coloured layer. When roll_over the coloured layer, this alpha goes to 0(zero) and entire MC resize +10% over x and y.On roll_out the opposite occurs, everything should get to the original alpha and size.

The Problem: when moving the mouse really fast over the MC's and stop suddenly over one of them it starts 'blinking' (size and alpha goes in and out and won't stop unless you move the mouse a little)

ActionScript Code:
for(var i:uint =0; i<16; i++){
var miniPnt:MovieClip=new LittlePantone();
miniPnt.x=_xc;

[code]....
