ActionScript 3.0 :: Move To Next Scene When The Enter Key Is Pressed

View 8 Repliesso I have some buttons that, as of right now, simply trigger the scene to move on while at the same time killing some particle effect animations I have spawning when the animation is idle. What I now need to do is make these events move on to a specific scene AFTER the rest of the scene's animation has played out (about 400 more frames) I'm figuring that the gotoAndPlay command has to be tied to some sort of timer variable that I would have to figure out based on my fps. Or maybe there is a way to set up a timer directly tied to a certain amount of frames allowed to go by. I'm pretty noob at actionscript, so keep that in mind. Here is the script at the point where the animation pauses to await user input on the buttons:

I have a function with the name "result". It's two textfields where you can input some data. I have an addEventListener with a mouse Click to that function. So when I click on my button It starts the function. But I want to call the same function when you press the enter key. So the result will be the same no matter if you click on the button or just press the enter key. This is what I have tried but It doesn't work. I guess I should write my function name "result" somewhere.

How do you detect the enter key being pressed on a button..
I want 2 text boxes 1 for user name 1 for the password
and a button
the user enters username presses tab - enters password - presses tab - button gets focus - presses enter on the keyboard form gets submited
I can detect the enter key press but not when the button has the focus..
I have one function that runs when a certain button is pressed. However, I want this function to also run when enter is pressed. I know that I can make a function to do this alone, but is there any way that I can make the function that I already have made (that is set to run when the button is pressed) to run also when enter is pressed?

However the "youranswer" variable is represented by the value in an input textbox and when I push enter, it just blanks it out and it never matches.
If I change it from Key.ENTER to Key.SHIFT, it works.

has it where it can detect Enter and do a check with an input text box. How does that work?
With a datagrid component on the stage, whenever I press the ENTER key, the columns eplicate themselves on the right side of the datagrid. It doesn't matter if they're populated or not. The user input (to choose what data is displayed) comes from a clicked movieclip.

At the moment I have 3 combo boxes ('tonic', 'tonality' and 'type') and a 'go' button. and when I press the go button I want it to go to the scene that contains the chord/scale that has been chosen. at the moment i have the code :

I have this code for all 12 keys.
I have two Scenes created as a test, as there will be many Scenes created eventually for a project.
the Scenes are names Intro and Wrong
In the Intro Scene is a Movieclip (called Yellow1) that contains all of the functionality and timelines for that Scene.
In theYellow1 Movieclip, I have a button that when clicked it goes to a specific frame in the timeline. That works fine.
Along the timeline there is a frame with Actionscript that is set to automatically go to the Scene called Wrong when entered.
The code in the frame is:

When I test the Scene Intro, everything plays fine until it enters the Frame with the above code.
I get an error of:
at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndPlay() at FinalProject_Yellow1_fla::yellowOne_1/goToWrong()ArgumentError: Error #2108: Scene Wrong was not found.
so it cannot find the Scene called wrong.
I know it has to be something to do with the Scene Wrong being at a different level ?
I put a movie stopped, I want that when I press (enter) the movie go to and play my next scene. How I can make that?

I can move my man with aswd and shoot moving balls with space, but there is an issue with it. When I'm moving my man by holding down a key, and then press space to shoot off a ball, then movement halts and you have to up and down the key again, to make the man continue to move.Here is the code:

As you might be able to see, I tried using another variable to store the old key code in, and switch it after the actions of a space press has occured.e how to make the sprite move after another key has been pressed, without having to up and down the key again?
I want to have something on the screen move at a constant speed when a button is pressed. I'm not sure how to go about it. I have this for it to move 5 pixels at a time but I want it to move continually on holding the mouse down.

What I want to do is essentially remove the button and only have to hit the enter key to submit my text and to move to the specified frame. I'm trying to just hit the enter key instead of having to click the submit button. I've been trying to get it working for the past couple of hours but haven't had any luck. My best guess is that the enter key isn't valid because it's an input box and may be confused with trying to create a new line (even though my input box is set to single line and not multiline). If so, is there any other way to do this?

I have a movie clip with a button in Scene one called home. I want it to go to a scene 2 called books in this scene I have a frame label called chem. I want the button in the movie clip to in the first scene "home" to take to to the frame labeled chem in the second scene called books.[code]

View 5 RepliesSo in my Main Timeline I have 2 Layers each with a movieclip attached, named Intro on the first frame and on the following frame Menu.
The problem is that my Intro Movieclip does not finish playing it's animation until the Menu frame pops up.
Within the Intro I have a animation and a Actions layer with:

In the end of it.
What I want is that my Intro frame would finish playing it's attached MC and then move the second frame labeled "Menu".

I'm trying to put together a sideshow using a modification of load_images.fla (a sample file supplied with Flash) combined the the 'Kirupa Menu with Slider' tutorial ([URL]) The slideshow uses a 'next' & 'previous' button to click thought the images. In addition to this I have a separate slide menu navigation (currently just numbers 1-7), with a rectangle highlighting the number of the image being viewed. I would like to move the rectangle to show which image is being viewed, when the 'next' or 'previous' button is pressed. The follow code shows the actionscript for the 'next' & 'previous' buttons....
