I'll show you the function first.[code]As you see, the order i put the items in the ArrayCollection is Areal, then Verdi (area, value)When i loop through the collection later, the order changes. Now it is Verdi then Areal (value, area).Does anyone have an idea of what might be the problem?It really ruins things when I pass it over to a PHP-script for table-making in html later.(I have several different dynamic DataGrids that differs in size and "values", so I can't really point directly to f.ex "Areal" in my PHP-script)And by the way, does anyone know how i can remove that pesky mx_internal_uid?

Is it possible to arrange (z) order of objects in Flash with ActionScript 3?
e.g. I have 3 symbol instances on a given layer, and I want to perform the equivalent of 'Bring to Front', 'Bring Forward', and/or target a certain z position.

How do I change the stacking order of Display Objects in AS3? I have a semi-transparent caption box that is supposed to be on top of externally loaded images. no matter where I place the script for that box in the code, the images always load on top of it.

Is there a way to use actionscript to change the stacking order of objects?I run two functions when i start my game, one that adds the player and set it's properties and one that generates the map. The add player function is run last so the player will appear above the map, the problem is that i have some objects on my map that i would like to appear infront of the hero, like certain tree's for example.
Is there a way i can make these objects appear infront by using actionscript? Using different layers won't work as everything is generated dynamically.

I have some movieclips on my stage that are there via timeline. I also add movieclips on stage using addChild.
What is the best way of changing the order of the movieclips because they overlap sometimes? eg.
mc_a is on the stage already
mc_b is called on stage using addChild
Can I change the order of mc_a using script even though it was already on stage?
Can I remove mc_a off stage using script?
How do add mc_b under mc_a so that mc_b does not overlap mc_a?

I have drawn colored rods which I have placed in the library and have put one of each on the stage with instance names likeblueRod_mc, etc.I place them around with time-line code like
blueRod_mc.x = 300.0;I have now created an Actionscript class called Problem.I build a new object from Problem which I have called Riddle.But when I put blueRod_mc.x = 300.0 in a method (of Problem),I get the message that blueRod is not accessible.So I triedstage.blueRod_mc.x = 300.0;That did not work either.

I have a main swf that I load external swfs onto the stage. I am trying to fix the loading order. Currently when a button is pressed, the swf is preloaded, the current swf is on the stage with the preloader showing, then the preloader disappears and the swf plays the outro transition.
how to change the order so that currently loaded swf is removed from the stage, show the preloader and then show the new swf.
Code:
package
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.display.SimpleButton;
[Code].....

I have a movie on stage that acts as a button using the code. person_mc.buttonMode = true;
I load an image onto the stage from my library using addChild(holiday);
What happens is that the person_mc button I have on stage will not function anymore, because I am presuming it is underneath the holiday pic when I loaded it using addChild.
How do I load the holiday pic, so that it is underneath the person_mc?
I know I could do what I did with holiday using addChild for the person_mc, but I do not want to do it that way.

I've been having a problem that I have not found a good solution for. I think this is a problem related to the Flash Player's architecture so an experienced eye here would be welcome.
Imagine you've got 3 symbols in the Library and create instances of them by dragging them onto the stage. Each object is linked to a class. Let's say the object classes are named ObjectA, ObjectB, ObjectC. Their stage instance names are objectA, objectB and objectC.
The classes of these objects reference stage instances. For example, ObjectA might have a reference to ObjectC, like this:
var _objectC = MovieClip(root).objectC;
ObjectC might have a reference to ObjectA, like this:
var _objectA = MovieClip(root).objectA;
It sounds like this should work but it doesn't. When the SWF is published, objects on the stage are instantiated in the order that they were dragged from the Library. This means if objectA is instantiated before objectC, it's reference to objectC will return null and the code will fail.
I know there are ways around this, but I'm trying to come up with a solution that doesn't involve the document class, a helper class like a singleton, or instatiating objects with addChild().
It seems that the only way you can be absolutely certain that all the objects have been instantiated is on the first frame of the movie. So I've been using a system that adds an enterFrame event listener to just get references of stage objects when the first frame runs, like this:
function findStageInstances(event:Event):void
{
var _objectA = MovieClip(root).objectA;
var _objectB = MovieClip(root).objectB;
[code]....
(Note: The ADDED_TO_STAGE event won't help in this case because objects are added to the stage by the SWF based on the order they were dragged onto the stage from the Library.)

I'm writing a web based flash app that's written entirely in AS3. I have objects on the screen as part of a GUI. I would like the user to be able to resize the window, or make it full screen. I would like everything to auto-scale with the resize, but also remain in the same relative position on the stage.

Code:

function formatXMLContent():void {
for (var i:int = 0; i < tourID.length(); i++) {

I am creating an order form for my flash site. I have never done this before in flash but I have in visual basic. I have a few questions:
1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}
2. After the person fills out the form I would like to have the results of the order sent to a pre-specified email adress in a certain format. What would be a good way to do this?

I am creating a program and have some objects that animate from off the stage to on the stage. When I run the program in the flash player the objects that are off stage are visible. Is there anyway to stop this from happening. I suppose I could create a layer with a frame in it that could cover the off stage objects, but I am just wondering if there is a better way.

how would I go about creating a flash application that has the ability of extending beyond its object width and height on a page? I've seen those crazy flash ads which beg you to hover over them only to have it take over 3/4 of the page you are viewing. How are they doing that? Is it a combination of Javascript and Flash? Or, is it actually a really big stage that is somehow hidden in the HTML? Or (better yet) is there a magic way of pushing flash objects beyond the stage and out into the HTML?

I'm studying the code for a vertical shooter game that is given in the book "ActionScript Design Patterns 3.0." The author is explaining the factory pattern and so covers just that aspect of the code -- doesn't cover hit testing. I would like to figure out how to do hit testing for this example because it's similar to something I am planning.
The code for the game consists of 12 classes, abstract and concrete creator classes, abstract and concrete product classes and a Main class. These classes instantiate the ship and weapon objects at various points in their execution. I made a separate Collision class and I'm trying to find all the objects on the stage using this Collision class so I can hit test them with each other. Here's my code:
Code:
package {
import flash.display.*;
import flash.events.*;
[Code]....
Is there a way to fix this code so I can access objects on the stage? Am I missing a cast somewhere? Or do I need a different approach to find objects on the stage in a multiclass game?

I'd like to be able to access some objects which are on the stage before compile time (e.g. in my .fla file). I can do this fine from the document class using the names I've assigned to them, but I need to be able to do this from other classes (instantiated at runtime) too.
What is the best way to go about this? Can I use the stage variable (this isn't looking likely from what I've read so far) somehow? Or do I need to pass in references to these objects from my document class when I create the instances of the class that needs to access them?

I'm having an issue accessing items on the stage from some imported code. I found this topic that discusses the same issue... [URL]
I'm not sure I totally understand how to go about this. I don't understand how to make the object global so I can access it from any class. (I have the same problem with an array I'm working with).

I have exported a page from InDesign to FLA that contains an InDesign multi-state object (MSO) and when I bring it into Flash and export as a SWF, the MSP just cycles through all the contained images. There's an Adobe KB that states that this is a known issue and that ActionScript can be used to stop the MSO from cycling. Does anyone know the ActionScript used to stop this?
