ActionScript 3.0 :: Opening External Applications And Closing From Main Interface

Sep 2, 2009

I made several applications in Flash and I would like to present them from one main application. In basic terms, I want a window with buttons linking to each project. Click on Button A for example, which opens Project A in a separate window. All of my projects are Mac or PC projectors.

ActionScript 2.0 :: AttachMovie External Swf - Load Buttons On The Map Into The Main Interface

Apr 17, 2005

I have created an interactive atlas. I am using my favorite map zooming and panning tools supplied by Senocular which can be found here: [URL] For the panning/zooming/drawBox tool to work the map features must be buried deep within several movieclips. There is one level at which you can put buttons that aren't effected by the code for the panning/zooming etc. Buttons have to go on this level or higher if you want them to work.

The way my atlas is set up - there is a main interface that has these tools plus the menu system. The menu (xml; created by Lost and Sen - brilliant) loads in two external swfs - one is the map itself and the other is a set of "controls" for that particular map (radio buttons, check boxes, text links, etc.).

Okay so here is my problem. I have a couple of external swfs that have buttons on them that do things when you roll over and off them. If I have these buttons sitting on the map then when it gets loaded into the main interface they no longer work. So I am trying to use attachMovie to attach them to an MC within the zooming tools in the main interface at a level they can be active (oh god I hope that makes sense). But it's not working.

I am guessing it's because the code to attach them is being fired before the external can be loaded into the interface. So I'm not really sure where to fire the attachMovie code. Does it go with the external? Does it go with the controls for the external?

So I have started with this code... on the main timeline(Scene) I have a target code

_root.createEmptyMovieClip("container",1);
container._x = 0

ActionScript 3.0 :: Closing MovieClips Before Opening New One?

Oct 30, 2008

when you click on a button it opens a movie clip (the background drops down). Each section has a different background.I want to be able to close the movie clip before moving onto the next section, e.g the backgound goes back up again and the next background drops down. e.g If you click on "contact" you go into contact section (a background drops down), then when you click on "work" the bg from contact goes up (i created a label called "contact_out" which contains a movieclip of the bg going up) and then loads the "work" section.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Opening And Closing Doors?

Feb 28, 2012

Imagine a locker room that you can open and close the doors. I have the opening and closing working (one sample below) but I need to make it so that only one door can be open at any time. I had thought about using a boolean that switches between true and false within an if/else statement. If the boolean is false (no doors open) then the one clicked can open. As it opens it sets the boolean to true so no others can be opened. Trouble is to close it the way its set up right now you click it again and the movieclip's timeline continues and resets to the closed position. This is an issue because the opening of the door sets the boolean to true and I need a false value to click the button again and close the door.I'm building on top of a tutorial I've just run through so ignore the "response_mc" - although that's where I'd put a "Please close the open door first" line through the else function.

ActionScript Code:
// Door ActionScripting
mc_door1.buttonMode = true;
mc_door1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, clickDoor1);[code].........

there are a total of 15 doors which are all set up the same way (a 15 frame movie clip that has its button mode turned on). Is there a less intense way of coding it rather than doing the above 15 times? Finally diving into AS3 and getting it slowly (been married to previous versions for so long it was hard to force myself to change).

Professional :: Flash CS5 File Opening / Closing

Dec 10, 2010

This is a new, legal installation of Flash CS5 running on MacBook Air. Here are the file management problems I'm experiencing:

1) files are excrutiatingly slow to open, close, save, and switch between

2) I currently have a series of about 15 files open and I'm trying to close them - I click "don't save" but the files won't close - it's like I've clicked cancel. I have removed the external media these files were originally on, but if not trying to save the file, why can't Flash just close them and make them go away?

Flash - Closing Child NativeWindows When Main App Gets Closed (via OS)?

Mar 14, 2012

I have been going crazy over this! I have an Air (2.6) app which, when running opens up a pop up NativeWindow, to handle alerts.

public var _alertWindow:NativeWindow;
_alertWindow = new NativeWindow(windowOptions);
_alertWindow.stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
_alertWindow.stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;

[code]....

I have had no problems with this across all platforms. But in Windows7, when right click on the taskbar and selecting 'close-window' only closes the main app and not its child NativeWindow. ( This keeps the app running in the background - so when a user tries to access it again it does't run ) I have tried adding event listeners like Event.CLOSING, and various other methods but have failed.how to close windows from the 'close window' option in windows7.

I am using in AS3 "External Interface ". When I call the JS function that is on the same page as swf everything works fine.

I added a link in the html page to an external JS file, when I move the JS function to the external JS file the website crushes.

I would prefer to have all my JS functions on an external file so I can use them in the future in other project and it also makes it easier for me to update the site.

how to call a JS function that is on an external file from AS3?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loaded Movie Calls Function In Main Interface?

Jan 25, 2009

I have an interface that contains audio controls in the Library (class: AudioControls)When a movie is loaded into the interface, and it happens to contain a sound (class: Audio_1), this loaded movie calls an interface function to show the audio controls:

Code:
if (Interface._ui != null) {
Interface._ui.playCurrentAudio();
}

The problem is, the playCurrentAudio() func in the interface contains some code that refers to nested MCs:

Code:
public function showAudioControls():void {
audioControls.x = 710;
audioControls.y = 583;
//

[code]....

That would be the speaker, rewind_btn, playPause_btn, etc. Referring to the parent clip, "audioControls", is no problem of course. But I get an error when I publish the loaded movie:

1119: Access of possibly undefined property speaker through a reference with static type AudioControls.
1119: Access of possibly undefined property rewind_btn through a reference with static type AudioControls.
1119: Access of possibly undefined property playPause_btn through a reference with static type AudioControls.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Closing The Parent Swf When Calling The External Swf

Feb 11, 2011

I have created a flash movie for displaying several videos. Also it has a first 'menu' flash movie which will call this video displaying swf after checking some Identifiers in 'menu'.

I am using code like this to call video displaying swf. Inside Menu.fla I wrote the below code to call CFStarVideoAS.swf.

var mLoader:Loader = new Loader();
var mRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("CFStarVideoAS.swf");
mLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.C OMPLETE, onCompleteHandler);
mLoader.load(mRequest);
stage.addChild(mLoader);

It loads the other movie but both movies are displaying together.

I have to unload Menu.swf, which is the first swf running.

My colleagues were using unloadMovieNum(0) with as1.

I tried mLoader.unload for a trial in as3 but not works. I read from some article that unload will work but don't know how and where to insert it.

Flex :: Manage Windows In External Applications?

Feb 6, 2012

I have 2 AIR applications (A and B) that are able to communicate via a LocalConnection object. I've verified that messages are definitely being sent/received appropriately.

I want to be able to have A tell B to come to the front. Both applications are full screen:

stage.fullScreenSourceRect = new Rectangle(0, 0, 1080, 1920);
stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;

I've tried several permutations, but as of yet nothing seems to work.

private function initSlave(channel: String): void {
conn = new LocalConnection();
conn.client = {

[Code]...

If I leave both applications in windowed mode (stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.NORMAL), then toggling alwaysInFront actually works. Calling activate() or orderToFront() still do nothing. If I try to toggle alwaysInFront and then set the application to fullscreen, the application ends up fullscreen behind my windowed app. Maybe there is an event I should wait for before setting the app to fullscreen?

I found a thread mentioning that orderToFront() only works relative to windows within the same application, which explains why it doesn't seem to do anything.

Does anyone have any insights into pulling this off? Maybe there is a way for me to embed B into application A so they are actually the same application? I am not sure how to do this with an AIR application as simply as just loading the SWF due to requiring external resources.

I am trying to find a way to take the entire folder and bundle it into a single EXE file.I need to find a permanent solution for opening the main Flash EXE file in a MAXIMIZED window. I don't mean fullscreen.I mean MAXIMIZED.In fullscreen, keyboard events don't work.But, they do in a Maximized window.

It's a homepage designed in HTML and flash that has this "main flashmovie" in the middle of the screen, the size is about 1500(width)X800(height). And the gears is about 800wX200h placed at the left and right side bottom of the page. Dont worry the site is easy to apply to any screen resolution.I have been looking everywhere for any soul out there who suffering from the same problem but no success. Is it possible to script a button in the main movie to launch two separate movies in their own contents?

ActionScript 3.0 :: External Interface And Win XP

For various reasons, the page with the embedded SWF has to work online as well as being run from someones local machine. The online version runs fine on every OS/browser. However, I've run into a snag where, for some reason, the local version isn't firing the javascript on Win XP in any browser.Is there perhaps some snag with using External Interface locally on an XP machine, or is there something else at play here? FYI, no problems at all on Vista/any browser.

I have been giving some guidlines to stop this but i am struggling to understand them. The instructions specificall say that the file must be set with the transparent parameter.

Here are the options that i have:

OPTION 1:
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
// Function executed in answer to the event
function onClic(pEvt:Event):void {

I think it could be the latter two that i need but am not entirely sure, i have tried them but have failed in my attempts?!If this is definetly the way to do it i will persevere! If these are not the way, what does the corner_show/hide method method do?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Using External Interface To Reload SWF

Mar 3, 2011

I have a navigation menu set up using standard jquery to load new body text and play a swf. There are about 10 links, each having there own body text and swf file. The swf's simply play, then stop after about 30 frames. When clicking through each menu item, a new swf plays and body text appears. I've been running into a problem lately with IE not reloading a swf. Instead it stops on the last frame of the swf and appears as an image. I was told to try using the external interface so jquery can force it to reload. I've never used the external interface before though, how to do this?

Using Flash - AS 3.0: I am trying to use ExternalInterface.call to open a .pdf file - but it is not working - nothing is happening...

But this line DOES work - call an .html file to open.
ExternalInterface.call ("window.open","m5_quiz/v1/quiz.html", "WindowName", params);

I can't find any information that says this should or shouldn't work - it seems to me it should open it. To get around this - I have been using 'navigateToURL' to open the pdf file - but that triggers the pop-up blocker - using the External Interface call does not.
