ActionScript 3.0 :: Pausing The Motions And Child Movies

I am doing a presentation demonstrating hardware components. For that I have used frame by frame animation for showing components. The explanation for these components are done as subtitle scrolling. It is created using actionscript 3 motion. The particular subtitle text will be generated according to the currentFrame. When I pause the entire movie i need to pause the scrolling text that i created using action script. I was searching for a week , how to do this. Is there event to identify whether main movie is stopped or paused. Or any other way to do this. The child movies and sound i added in time line should be paused while pausing the movie....

I have a simple movie of a person - torso, arms, legs, each on a separate layer. I'm adding a walk cycle and use tweens to move the arms and legs. This works fine when I export to an swf. But when I group and try to export to a movieclip, the arms jump way up. This seems like a simple problem of adjusting coordinates, origins, etc. But I'm kind of a newbie, so does someone have a suggestion for me? How do I export to a movieclip and have it playback the same as when exporting to a swf?

"How many motion tweens can you have on a timeline." Yup. The answer is one...... or is it? I had a long discussion with my tutor (who is the greatest tutor in the world) and he wanted to think about it. I said to him that I thought that one motion tween was wrong because you can click on an object in the timeline, make it a motion tween, and double click it and make several motion tweens. So, essentially, you can have more than one motion tween on a timeline.

I defined 2 different motions for an object in Flash, saved them as Presets and then copied each as Actionscript 3.0 and pasted them seperately into a code frame 2 on my timeline. I was thinking that with Actionscript I should be able to select between two motions given certain conditions. Here's what I got:

There was a flash motion already defined for the digitB1_mc. The trace statement fired showing this code was executed. But the default flash motion executed, not this one. I know that at previous times, I have fooled around and got similar code to work. But why not this? It's like it ignores this motion altogether. Note also: When I remove the default Flash motion and run the test, digitB1_mc does NOT move at all, again ignoring this code(which the trace stmt says is executing).

Im doing a project that works with lots of tweens im having always the same problem when i call Tweens to execute in the same frame..The Tween most of the times freez before this motion end.I fixed the tween for the background... but for that i had to put the tween in another frame and call that frame from my home Frame..Now im trying to do some Tweens with some buttons, but it most of the time freez before the motion ends.Should i forget to use Tweens in the same frames?

Using Flash CS4 trial I am trying to make a banner on one time line.I have 6 photos on one time line with a right to left motion tween, and I would like it to repeat it without the white space of the stage appearing inbetween instances.I have tried it with two time lines also, but to no avail.Basically I would like it to repeat picture 1 again from the right side of the stage directly after picture 6 has left the left hand side of the stage without white space.
Also have problems selecting the bez curve, to drag a motion, so far I find if I create a key frame at the end of the timeline and click a couple of times on the mouse (not consistant) then hold the left mouse button down for a few seconds it some times turns the white circle green, then I can move it? but as I said not very consistant.

I have an intro.swf file that is basically a movie with sound that is exported for actionscript but not exported in the first frame. I just stuck it in a movie on my timeline and it works great and the preloader works because it doesn't load the sound before the preloader. I use :
musicSound = new Sound();
musicSound.attachSound("music");
musicSound.start();
to play the sound in intro.swf.
However, now this intro.swf gets loaded into an index.swf and everything works fine and the sound plays as long as I have the sound included in BOTH the intro.swf and the index.swf and the sound is exported on the first frame in the index.swf. I was hoping I could remove the sound entirely from my index.swf since it already loads into the intro but so far

I have been having trouble creating a movie clip with a reverse rollover effect within a movie which has a reverse rollover effect. that sounds confusing
In essence I wish to create a panel that rolls out on rollover and rolls back in reverse when the you rollout. I have done this using this script

However I wish to make movies within this movie that have the same effect on them. But when I create another movie or button within this movie it is not registering on rollover. I guess because the script on the main movie overrides it?

I have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. then have a button in the child swf itself that removes the child from over the background so the user can click on another item etc.I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple swf files...it currently works for a single swf.I wan to pass the name of the button in front of the .swf in the URLRequest to have the same name as the instance name of the referring button. But I can't figure it out. Here is the code I am using on the stage

I am creating a calendar and only one part isnt work. That part is the movie (mc_nav). I have the mc_nav movie on each month's stage. The buttons are named correctly since I used normal modes reference thingy to double check the references. I am trying to have it move to the next frame in the movie, or back, or to the 3rd frame etc. The first section (NAVIGATION BUTTON LINKS) works fine. It is just when I try to navigate on the Scene 1 stage, from a movie within a movie, that the trouble arises. Each of the month movies (mc_sep, mc_oct, etc) have mc_nav placed on them. Then the month movies are placed in Scene 1 on each of their respective frames (mc_sep = 4, mc_oct = 5, etc). When testing the movie and I am sent to any month page, the navigation (mc_nav) wont work. The syntax according to the flash debugger is correct. The action script goes all the way through to the last frame (13) and the stop(); command is set to stop the movie at frame 3 (the splash page).

I have a small FLA file i created myself. its just a simple mp3 player, pause and stop and a volume slider, thats it.I want to import three instances of this into a bigger movie and have them all available to run at the same time.I need them to be all on the screen at one time (same frames) and I need them each to be able to play a different mp3 The user will not be able to decide which mp3, this is all 'hard coded' into the fla file.So how can I do this and get access to each individual movie's controls?
For example when I use the slider on the first player, I only want the volume to change on the first mp3.Would I even have to worry about this in the big file that has all three movies in it?I mean could I just code the volume slider to work right in the mp3 player file and then the bigger movie file will automatically know that when the volume slider is moved, only to affect the voume of the first mp3?if i do it that way, would I have to save out 3 different versions of the mp3 player file. one with '1.mp3', say, hard coded into it, another with '2.mp3' hard coded into it, etc?

I have created a simple interactive tutorial with buttons that open specific scenes (sections) in the tutorial using gotoAndPlay(). These scenes are initially "duplicates" of each other, except for some of the objects in the scene. Everything was doing ok but when I reached my 12th scene, things became messed up. Initially, when I added this last scene (say, SCENE2, with the same contents as the one copied from SCENE1) and published it, the SWF was behaving correctly. But when I just extended the timeframe to accomodate a longer audio, this scene keeps on pausing on the last frame for some reason. I'm assuming that if there are no animations and just audio playing, it would still not pause. I copied another scene, say SCENE3, also from SCENE1, that would play after SCENE 2. When I click on the button to play SCENE3, it just goes to the last frame of SCENE2 and does not play, eventhough the script for that button is just gotoAndPlay("SCENE3",1).

I am having a problem restarting a function I have stopped using delete this.onEnterFrame a panel scrolls on the x based on mouse position. here is the code

how to get an animation to pause at a desired frame after a click rather than just stopping it at that exact frame or putting a stop action at the desired frame. My goal is to have a movie sequence play continuesly and when a user so desires he/she can click and stop the movie, but rather than stop it while it is in transition at that exact frame, the movie should continue to a point where it is logical for the movie to stop.(example: the movie is at frame 2 when the user clicks, but instead of stopping at frame 2 it continues to frame 10, and then stops) Then on another click the movie will continue through it's sequence as it was before. I would like to use a MC, onClipEvent to handle the script in Flash MX.

my problem pertains to Flash MX and pausing .mp3 files I have loaded externally. I have searched this forum, but every useful thread i found references [URL] but that page gives me and http 500 internal server error... ie the site is down.
but my problem is that I need to know if there is a reletively simple (or actually any at all) way to pause a song through a button that i have externally loaded... this is my code so far:

I'm attaching an MC to the timeline and within that attached MC is a LoadVars.sendAndLoad command. This works flawlessly when I have a few variables but becomes horribly bogged down when I have to send (and receive) lots of data. It actually freezes my swf until all the data is loaded, then switches windows <minimizes itself in Win XP> after it's all done loading.So I figure I need a way for the original attach movie to finish loading, before I send the PHP commands...

I am creating I guess what you could call a swf library. It's a bunch of different interactive swfs all packaged up into a main swf that I can embed on my page. Each swf contains flv's that play. They all work great in my main swf and individually, that's not my problem.Everything is working great but I have a menu that pops up to change between different episodes and it works great.BUTWhat I'm looking to do is when you click on the menu button and the menu pops up over the externally loaded swf, I want the externally loaded swf to pause. Then when you close the menu I want it to un pause. It looks really tacky when the menu pops up and the flv's in the externally loaded swfs keep running. I knew how to pause them in as2 but only from the swf they were actually in.
This is my code (this all works) I just can't figure out code to add that will pause everything when the menu pops up ...box is what I named an empty box on stagetop_btn is the button that launches the menu

I'm working on a script and I've run into a coder's writing block so-to-speak. I have an array of twenty object (with attributes). I want to loop through the array and for each object, update some text fields, create a tween, pause, and create another tween (i.e. fade in / fade out). I tried working with the timer class but the for loop, as expected, keeps on rollin' after the function has been called by the listener.

Pausing, stopping and playing movieClip (MC) children. I am making SWFs that an interface will load and control (pause, re-start, stop, etc.). Then the interface is paused, the main MC will pause but not it's child MCs. I didn't write the interface, I am just supplying SWFs that are loading into the interface. The developer of the interface willn't allow me to use animated MCs in my SWFs since he can't control them with the interface. So all my animation need to be on the main time line, which is no optimal to say the lease.Can I provide him with some code to allow him to stop the child MCs or is there an Event Listener I could include in the child MCs that would pause, stop, restart, etc when the main MC changes?I currently do not have a fix at this time and since all my animations are on the main timeline, is there a way to select multiple objects (on difference layers) and move and resize them across multiple keyframes?

I created a scene with my splash, etc. the last frame loads a text menu. I would like the links for each text menu item to start a new scene for the content of that menu item. Then when it is over, have a return button to go back to my scene with the menu items. I created the scenes, but when ever I play the movie, the scenes keep going one right after the other.
