ActionScript 3.0 :: Play Audio File From Tumblr API?

I've been working with displaying data from the tumblr API and all is pretty good except for some videos [wil have to get in to later] and audio.

Does anyone know a way you can take this data they give you and get it to play the audio file in flash?[code]...

I have created two buttons for separate audio files. Essentially if you click on the button it will play and stop. This works great! I have also injected a SoundMixer.stopAll(); to ensure if you click between both buttons that it will stop the current audio file to play the next one. My problem is when I select the 2nd button for the first time everything seems to be working...it's when I attempt to click on the first button again, that it will require 2 clicks and then it stops and plays accordingly...anyone know how I could eliminate this annoying two click process?

How can you bring in a path as a variable from php? I have hundreds of mp3 file names stored in a My SQL database and I want to call the name, load it into a variable and then have it replace the URL in the call to the sound file. I am all set with the PHP and database side of things, but I have been frustrated with the Flash part. I think it would just involve passing a variable from php to flash. The web pages we are building would eventually have 10 - 15 files per page and each one would have a different sound file and a different image that you could click to trigger the sound. First click would start the file and the second would stop the sound. The images and sound files are all stored in the database.I found this code on another post and it is basically what I want to do. Still missing the button part, but if I can figure out the variable from PHP I think it will open up a bunch of new options.

But it seemed not working at all.I was doing was try to build a generic media player. I have an audio player that has a custom timeline and playhead. I am using a start and stop drag to move in the time line but the only way i can make it work is to have it play when ever I release the play head. I would like it to stay stopped if the player is paused and play if the player was playing.

My server is streaming binary audio data (mostly mp3 files) to a client (a browser). This client stores the audio data in memory.

What I'm looking for is a flash audio player that I can input the binary audio data so that it can play the audio file.

Preferably, the flash client is merely a bridge to Javascript so that I can handle everything in Javascript and simply use Flash's audio features, but this is not a requirement.

I want to play *.spx files which encoded by Speex on the Web.But I have no knowledge of Flash/Flex or any Flash Audio codec. After Google search for a whole day, I got some solutions, that is:

Do something wrapping Speex files with a FLV container because that the Speex is only playable as the audio codec in a FLV container.Now I can play a SPX-Audio-Only FLV file in Flex, I use netStream.play("audio-only-speex.flv"), But I donot know how to wrap a Spx file with FLV container using ActionScript.I have never heard FMS stuffs before, as well as I'm not sure whether my virtual host can support or not...Convert every Spx files to MP3.

I think the best solution is decoding Spx in AS3, Yes, I'd like to make a Spx Flash Player.So, I downloaded Speex Library from speex.org, installed Adobe Alchemy. After ./configure;make the libspeex, build libspeex/speex.c out a libspeex.swc via Alchemy. then, I donot know how to do next. How can I decode the speex audio with AS3? My libspeex.swc: [url].....

In addtion, should I rewrite the libspeex using Alchemy API before build the libspeex.swc? Although I am not professional in AS, but I have a strong ability to learn.

So I'm trying to code an AIR widget for Tumblr. Before I actually start working on the widget, I wanted to play around with AS3 and the Tumblr API to do simple things, like reading and writing posts, editing posts etc. I got reading posts working, but when it comes to creating posts I run into an unknown brickwall. Here's the instructions from Tumblr's API doc on making a POST request:

The Write API is a very simple HTTP interface. To create a post, send a POST request to [URL] with the following parameters:
Email - Your account's email address.
password - Your account's password.
type - The post type.

These are the valid values for the type parameter, with the associated content parameters that each type supports:
Regular - Requires at least one:
Title
Body (HTML allowed)
[URL]

I'm looking for a (free) flash player that I can embed in my site and use to play a .m4a (.mp4 with AAC audio) file that will be obtained using a URL (i.e. it's not local to the server hosting the web page).I've tried searching on google for one, but either I'm searching wrong or no one has made such a thing. Ideally this would be very simple (small user interface with play button and maybe a progress bar) and it would be easy to have multiple instances of on an html page (can create the player with an <object> tag).

I am working on a project which I have to link a few swf. I have used loadMovieNum for the linking, meaning the actionscript I apply for my buttons look like this:

Above script enables me to link the files. However, I wish to play an audio across all files CONTINUOUSLY. Is there ANY way to do it? I tried putting the audio in another file and load the movie on level 1. But everytime when I jump from one file to another, the audio stops.

flash.media.Video flash.media.Sound Live docs link. But the limitations are as follow: Video class can be used to play only flv file format. To play mp3 files I must use audio file.

So can I play most of the famous audio/video files by using single method?

Well by checking the file type we can some how achieve it. Then I should create a component for that.

So can any one suggest me such ready-made components? or is there any other alternatives to play audio/video files?

I've been working on a Flash/XML audio player and have been struggling with getting the audio to stream. Right now I have Flash create a list of songs based on the loaded XML file, which works, and I want to be able to click on one of the listed items for the song to start playing. When an item is clicked on, Flash will trace out a message from an onLoad command, but the audio never starts playing.

I opened a new Flash file to test the non-working segment of code and I still can't get it to co-operate.

I need to create a flash video for a website of a product rotating through 360 degrees - looping seamlessly. This will be 100 frames long. I then need to add a 500 frame voice over.

I need to optimize file sizes so what is the best way to tackle this?

Is there a way to loop the video with actionscript but not the audio? i.e. rather than extend and repeat the video phyiscally in the timeline inlind with the audio length - as I assume this will increase the file size?

I have an audio player that I'm going to use. I've created 3 .swfs (one for each one). And I have it all set up in my main .swf It plays and stops and all that happy stuff. BUT, it is such crappy quality. The weird thing is that in each of the .swfs by themselves, the songs sound great. But when they play in the main .swf they suck. Like they sound horrible. Is there any way to correct this?

I call it a hiccup because the code works; but it's backwards. When I hit the audio button it plays the music and when I hit it again it stops the music. I wish for the music to play automatically when you enter the SWF and then you hit the button to mute the music if you wish; and then hit the button again to play the music again.

I have a flash "hear from the experts" video in which multiple speakers discuss an issue. I have it set up so you can listen to each speaker one at a time, however, I don't know how to pause and play each speaker so if you wanted to pause it and return or pause it and start a different speaker, you could do that and then resume where you left off. It would be even cooler if I could add some sort of status bar that shows how far into the audio you are, and you could skip ahead. I uploaded the file in CS3 - I had to actually delete the MP3s that are triggered to play on each play button in order to make it small enough to upload, but if you look at the code you can see it there.
