Having been on [URL]..I've managed to get my FLV playing but I can't find how to create a preloader bar like the one seen on this website I've done preloaders to use with external swf files bytes loaded / bytes total but I don't know how to do one for use with this video code.

I have a xml video background and need to add a preloader before the video is buffering. The problem is that I am loading the video from xml file and from what I've tried the preloader works for the swf file but not for f4v video loaded externally. You can check the preview here: [URL]. What I've come with is to compress the video so Ill get a smaller file or change the buffer time, but the priority is to come out with the preloader.
View 1 RepliesI have created a preloader, to load a single swf file, that has embedded video and sound.It works when I test it, using Air 2.6 settings. But when I compile it, the swf plays, but the sound and video are missing in the swf. I addded the swf, the mp3, and flv files to be included in the Air app. Do I need to add a reference to them as well in the code, or is there some other reason they may not be appearing? Do I need to load the src files into the library of the preloader?
If I play the original swf, that is being called and loaded, it plays with the sound and video. The original swf, the sound src and the video src are all in the same directory with the preloader.fla.
Here is my code for the preloader. It is all in frame 1 of my flash file.The file does not have anything else, other than the dynamic text instance "percent" on the stage.

I'm using the FLV playback component and the pre-loader is not working. I have also right clicked on the flv playback component, gone to properties and unchecked Export for Actionscript but still doesn't work.
View 7 RepliesI'd like to make a preloader for a flv playback, so while waiting for the video to load, you can have the preloader. What I did was put the flv playback inside a movie clip, which has as the first frame the preloader and as the second frame the flv playback (which I call as instance myVid). But it doesn't work, it stays in the first frame with the bar loaded and never goes to the second with the movie clip. Maybe I shouldn't use the normal code I use to make a preloader for a whole site. Can anyone help? I attach the code I use for the preloader.

If i use NetStream actions bytesLoaded and bytesTotal to create preloader this show how many bytes are loaded I want to create how many seconds of video file are loaded. The same preloader are on youtube player. If i use NetStream actions and if i move slider of position to end of preloader bar video is no playing from place where i put slider but slider are go back, and then video is playing. I want to video are playing from place where i put slider.

The movie loads and plays but the preloader only loads part of the way. How would I go about having the preloader progress bar load all the way then have the movie start?

That file is set up exactly the same as the one that is working, so I don't know what's wrong with it other than perhaps the file is too large to handle that way?

I am using the video component with AS3. I have an external flv which loads nicely...that's fine. Now I am looking for a way to remove a preloader animation once the video starts streaming. The preloader is just an animation without a status (percent) bar. In plain English the code would be: if flv file is streaming, fade preloader animation I am also noticing that the first frame of the video shows while it's loading...is there a way to change it so that nothing is seen until streaming? If worst comes to worst I can always make a mask.

I have a preloader and 10 swf that needs to be cache. My problem was that when the preloader started, it was not only caching the swf, but a lot of .flv and a lot of the same player skin (flvplayback component). I don't need and don't want to preload or cache those .flv. They need to be load only when someone is on the page not before (in real time, not preload).
But the problem is that the videos (flv) are on the first frame of every swf cause I need the video to start when they enter the page. So when the preloader start, it starts to preload the videos too (since they are on the first frame).Is there a solution to change the behavior of the preloader or restrict what he can load ?Is there a better way to make my video start on enter frame without putting it on the first frame ? Something that would not be preload and cache but that would start when the user enter the page ?
I need to load an external movie that includes some video. That external movie is like 95mb. How can I preload everything so that there is no lag when I get to the scene where I load the external swf? This movie, of course, is not getting put on the internet. I am using Flash as sort of a high end Powerpoint app. Not sure if this is just a basic preloader or not.

Video framesize is very small compared to the stage size. When i tried to add video and resize the video acoording to the page size , it slows the browser. So for instance I will have slide 1 (graphic) - slide 2 (video clip) - slide 3 (text). I have used CS4 before for one of my classes but that was a little while ago, and I feel like I'm starting over again. When I import the first graphic (.png), is there an option to have it resize to fit the stage?

View 4 RepliesI am currently working on a flash website that has several flv videos on it. Since the website layout has a slight tilt, I have had to transform the videos to slightly tilt as well. The problem that I am having is that when I do this the image becomes very pixelated and the edges of the video become jagged. I have somewhat fixed the edges issue by making a mask around it but i really dont know how to make the resolution better, or what causes it to loose resolution when slightly transformed. The size of the videos is the same as encoded. All I do is tilt them upwards on the right side a bit.

Looking into HTML5 video tag, and researching which browsers support which video file types, and my initial thought is things just got harder than just using flash. I am wondering if there is some skeleton code (combined with development approach for videos) that someone has figured out to do the following: If flash is available, use it If not, try html5 video ogg format If that doesn't work, try html5 video h.264 format If that doesn't work, try html5 video webM format Based on what I am seeing, am I correct in thinking that now, in order to accommodate all users on all browsers, a video needs to be published in 4 formats? If so, this HTML5 video thing is an epic fail!

I'm porting in an .flv to Flash for the first time. I created the .flv from an .MP4 using Media Encoder CS5, and then opened a new Actionscript 3 .fla in Flash Professional CS5, clicked File > Import > Import Video. Then selected 'Load external video with playback component'. Everything seems to have imported fine, but when I publish the SWF and import it via Dreamweaver CS5 and preview the page, the video is there, but the controls are not. There's just a white box where the controls should be. Also, the video is out of sync with the audio, which I believe is a problem with Media Encoder, not Flash.

View 14 RepliesI'm currently working on a website design. The idea is a big chromakeyed interactive video in Flash. The size of the video is 1080 (width) x 1500 (height) pixels.I've exported the video in After Effects with the standard settings for flash (File>Export>Adobe Flash Player(SWF)). Now when I import the video in Flash and preview the file, the video plays in a slower speed and it's not playing smooth at all...Is the video too big? Is there a maximum video-size to keep the video running correct in Flash? Is it something else that causes this problem..?
