ActionScript 3.0 :: Video Gallery - Adding Preloader And Setting MovieClip?

I am new to flashCS4 and done 2 of lee's tutorial's and have 2 questions.
1) how/where do I add a preloader to file when each vid is clicked on ?
2) how do I set a mc to be seen as a button in browser when you mouse over it ?

Ok so I have this XML gallery working perfectly, but I want to add a preloader to it. I have the loader and child all in one package, and that package is called via back and forward buttons according to if/else statements that ensure that the xml gallery does not get confused. I figure ok, so it's simple, I just add the preloader into the package using if/else statement, but I can't seem to get it to interact with the imageLoader I have set up in this package. As it stands right now I get no compile errors, but I do get an output error at runtime stating that packagedF and xmlLoadedF are now null object references. Take a look and see if you can figure out what I'm doing wrong:

I've got a photo gallery that I'm working on it loads its content from an xml file... I would like to be able to display and play flv videos as well but I'm unsure what changes I will have to make. If I only change the xml I get the error " Loaded file is an unknown type."

I have nested my animation into a movie clip and have tried to use a pre-loader on it. The nested movie clip opening screen as a button on and the second screen as back and forward buttons. The movie clip works fine no problem until adding it to the pre-loader. The code for the pre-loader is (below) on frame 1 frame 2 to is tells it to stop and also were my nested movie clip is

I am new to as3 and am having an issue transferring a Flash Video Gallery into a seperate flash file.Basically I want to add this video player file into a separate flash site I am making but don't know how with as3.I copy all the library assets from the video gallery FLA into the other movie, put the movieclips in the right location and upload all the relevant actionscript files, xml data linked with the original video player file but nothing still shows up when tested live.

I've completed my XML-driven image gallery, however upon live testing I'd realized I made a rookie mistake and not put some kind of placeholder "loading" movie clip loop while the thumbnails and subsequent full-size images are being loaded. The images will randomly appear when loaded and I would like to be able to insert a placeholder movie clip while they load, and swap them up with the thumbnails/images after it has been loaded. The placeholder movie clip is in my library (loadingLoop), but I'm having problems getting it to work correctly.
Below is the original function that processes the XML and adds the thumbnail images; this is where I'm trying to insert the placeholder movie clip per XML child node (every attempt I've made just keeps throwing more errors, so I've omitted my attempts to avoid confusion), and I've attached the XML file for testing.

I have a flash site that I'm working with that has an xml photo gallery as one of it's menu items. the photo gallery has three pages, all three containing thumbnail images that once clicked, load the larger image. The larger image dissolves in covering the page with the image. Once you click the larger image it dissolves out returning you to the gallery.
What I want to to do is to change the first page of this gallery to a video gallery, or player, leaving the other two galleries as image galleries. I tried simply replacing the images listed in the xml document to flv files and the flv file does not load. I simply want to know what it is I need to do in order to change this one page so that I can embed videos on it.
I've attached the Action script that loads the xml gallery in .txt format

In the following code I set my preloader to play an swf. If I test the preloader inside or outside the flash author environment it plays the swf. If I change the swf to a new file name and resave the flash file with a new name it won't play the new swf. I am using FlashMX 2004 Prof.

I make my base swf in which I load external swf's. In my base swf I have mp3 player. Everything works fine until I need to load external Video gallery or mmedija.swf. In video gallery I have

to stop my mp3 player sounds and play video files.... But then when load some other files I want to stop playing video files and restart mp3 player.

I've got an image slideshow, and a preloader for each individual image. I want the preloader BAR to be dynamically assigned the width of the banner, which is defined in a variable. Here are my preloader settings and function call:

Basically, what is happening is. The "progressBar" width is being defined as the variable BANNER_WIDTH, but when the _xscale property is run in my preloading function, it doesn't care what the banner width is. So what I want to say is. I want you to _xscale according to what is being loaded, but I don't want your _xscale to exceed BANNER_WIDTH's width. I don't know how to do this and keep the preloader accurate. I can only save as CS4, CS5.

I have a video player that plays videos loaded via XML and selected using a combbox. I just got the play and pause buttons to work. What I'm attempting to do now is be able to hit next or previous buttons and select the next or pevious video from the XML file, and update the displayed/selected file in the combobox, my thought was to somehow set the previous/next buttons to directly manipulate the combobox, but nothing I've tried so far has worked.

i have an xml gallery where every thumbnail is supposed to load a video on onRelease function. I tryed the easiest way i figured, since i�m not used to work in as2, but it works only a bit: It loads the first video you click ok, but it won�t load another one. This is my code:

I am a little stuck as to where to begin; I have created aphoto gallery and now need to add some preloader capability to it.The images are brought in via XMLList etc... I followed a couple of tuts and I have the gallery working, but I would like it to have a preloader, so I added a basic one to the first 2 frames of the root and moved gallery movieclip and controller to the 3rd frame.the preloader works and the movie goes to frame 3 but then my controller(scrubber) for my gallery doesnt work, in the code there is nothing refering to the _root just _parent so I am not sure where the problem is. I have searched and searched and can't seem to figure this one out. I have a preloader for each of the images (loaded with XML) in my gallery. I'm trying to get the percent to show up. I got fed up and deleted the percentage part of the preloader it all together... But now I really need one in there. Does anyone have a clue how to code this? Here's the AS for the preloader bar I have so far:

I've been trying to add a preloader to my thumbnails, but it has been quite difficult (really considering the idea of buying an AS3 book).
Well, this is what I have First the code to call the Thumbs from the XML file.

I'm trying to modify Scotty's fantastic resizable XML gallery to add links to it. I've read through similar posts on this forum and I'm confused on a couple of issues. Firstly, the xml file provided, which I am using, places all fields in "" marks, whilst all examples given on this forum don't seem to do so.Perhaps more importantly, when i try, as recommended on similar posts, to place the link within CDATA tags the gallery stops showing any thumbnails, pictures or anything! I am trying to build a simple preloader. I have 4 movieclips on stage and on each one I am adding an image that comes from an xml file:

I am making a flash animation/movie that is about 1.4MB in file size, there is also music that plays along with the animation, but the MP3 file is about 2.4MB, so I called up the loadSound function (streaming) in the first frame, and toggled the Sound start function when the PLAY button was pressed. The PLAY button only appears once the preloader has loaded all the frames of the flash file, but it does not wait for the MP3 to finish loading.
If the user clicks on the PLAY button before the MP3 has finished loading, it won't play the MP3.
If the user waits a few seconds for the MP3 to finish loading, the MP3 plays normally.
Is there a way to make the preloader load and/or calculate the MP3 as well as the animation?

I am building a web site and I have the main movie, which loads a picture gallery (another .swf file) using "loadMovie();" and then the problem comes in - my gallery movie has a preloader which after finishing is supposed to move on frame 2 of the gallery movie, but instead of that it moves to frame 2 of the main site...
This is the main movies button code loading the gallery:

Gallery_Sub.loadMovie("../Flash/murals.swf");
Here is my preloaders code on the frame 100:

And at last my gallery movie's code on the preloader frame:
