ActionScript 3.0 :: Querying MS SQL Server DB Via ASP?
Apr 13, 2011
trying to create an AS3 script in order to use an ASP page which can connect and get data from a MS SQL Server 2008 database.I only need to check one DB entry, from my Flash SWF, to see if a user is already registered in a companion Learner Management System (LMS). If the user has already registered, the LMS would have sent his/her name to the MS SQL database (can not be re-configured to write to MySQL, which would be easier using PHP). So, I would need to user middleware like ASP so that the Flash AS3 can call the middleware script which can query the DB.
I found a good ASP script for setting up a MS SQL DB query at:[URL] (without DSN version). (I would need to add some way in this ASP page to get an array of registered users' name returned.)The help I need is with the AS3 in the Flash SWF that can call the ASP page and get back the user name. Then a check (with user input of their name in a dynamic text box):if it is in the returned DB table array, then 'thank you for registering.' And the registered user can proceed to frame 2. If not, 'please register using the LMS at [URL] like that.
Is anyone aware of a clever way to query (in AS3) an .xml file so that when the .xml file changes (as the result of an Access query in this case) the AS3 application (Google Maps API) refreshes using the new .xml data?
I have been struggling with trying to interface with SQLite and Adobe AIR. I am using the Flex 4 SDK with AIR 2.0. I modified code from a tutorial by David Tucker on InsideRIA ([URL]). I am writing in FlashDevelop (which I suppose could be my problem), and I can compile and run the app. The issue is that when I go to search the db file, I always get some error which results in the 'BREAKER' trace (ie - the 'queryError' function is called). I have tried simply running the SQL command on the db and it works fine, so there is an issue somewhere in the way Flex or AIR is handling my query (or obviously I could have made a mistake in coding).
I have instantiated a class (class1) that loads some data via PHP in an AS3 Flex project.I instantiate class1, which is asynchronous and utilizes a URLLoader() to obtain its data.Then I would like to instantiate class2, which needs to USE the data from class1, but when I simply instantiate it I find that class1's instance variable is not populated yet because I am calling class2 too quickly.How can I create such a dependency that will link correctly?I am really new to using listeners, but I am imagining a listener in class2 might be what I need?Or maybe I can pass a reference to the listener in class1 into class2?I also know nothing about dispatching events... is this the key?Here's an example in pseudo code:
var class1:myC1 = new myC1("http://some/url/to/utilize"); //this never shows up because it hasn't loaded at the time i request it trace("the stuff from class1 is: ", class1.myXMLList);
I'm trying to find out what the time is through a Date var and changing the hours in it.Does anyone know how to do that? I guess in pseudo-code i would like something like this:
function updateTime(d:Date)Void { Var nowTime:Date() = new Date();
The company I work for installed FMS on a server running Centos for a customer who needed streaming media capabilities. It worked fine for 3 months until today the customer called us and informed us that their client program can no longer connect to the streaming media server. No one has done anything to the server to cause this to happen. When attempting to access the admin console to diagnose the program, the streaming server returned a 500 Internal Server Error. So I tried another page. Same result. Reboots of both the hardware server and the FMS have changed nothing.
One server - is streaming server with Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5that host the application with asc files in FMS application directory.Second server - is the IIS web server that host thehtml,aspx,swf etc.. files.So basically i heve swf file on one server that have to connect to live streaming via rtmp on different server with different ip address.I did not find any clear explanation on this crossdomain rmtp issue.ys only HTTP can use crossdomain.xml policy filebut not rmtp.So what policy security procedure need to be done in order to enableswf file hosted on one server to connect and show rmtp live cam broadcasting from another server?
The instructions for installation only cover installation on "localhost". I'm wondering if I could use the development server for a small scale website depolyment with restricted traffic, from a commercial server, such as goDaddy?And if so, what''s the method? Do I download the package from Adobe to my local hard drive and install over the network, or copy the package to the server and install it online?
The $995.00 version is listed as not supporting server side playlists. Is it possible to implement internet TV station like functionality using that version? I would like to have a list of files to play out and have it so those connected are all viewing the same thing.
I would like to RePublish Live Stream to a CDN (Level3). this CDN must use FCpublish on Client Side (like FME).
my Publisher send stream on FMS3.5 (Server1) and this stream must go to Serveur2 (CDN) with FCPulish.
On my local serveur1, i add some code to do that but whitout succes...
i can RePublish when i simulate the second Server(2) on my LocalHost BUT withOut the FCPublish Method.. (i use the sample from Adobe Flash Media Server "Publishing server 2 server")
How can i change this sample to use the FCPublish method to republish the stream to Server2 ?
with my tests, i think that my problem is how to receive the "onFCPublish = netstream.publish.start" from the server2 to my server1
please, do you have a great and simple sample (like this before) to reStream by FCPublish Method ?
I know how to make it in AS3 on my Flex Client Application but not in the Action Script on the main.asc
I'm building a video conferencing applicaition for a portal. But now when considering which version of flash media server to buy, I run into some problem. So can anyone helps me about comparing this two versions: Flash Media Streaming Server and Flash Media Interactive server, like if I use Flash Media Streaming Server, some function like NetStream.pause() may not work or something like that? I'm not sure if this is a foolish question but please let me know.
can you write and modify XML files using server-side Actionscript? I've been going through Adobe's Server-side Actionscript reference, reading up on the File class that lets you modify files on the server, and the server-side XML class that lets you read and 'understand' XML data, but can you put them together and essentially edit XML files on the server?
I have installed the FMS 3.5 Server on a separate IP from our main Apache Server: The server is running Redhat Linux 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5
FMS 3.5 running on ***.***.**.138 using ports 1935, 8080 (Admin Server using port 1111) Apache 2 running on ***.***.**.139 using port 80, 443. (several sites setup on this IP)
However, when accessing the fms_adminConsole.htm in the root directory of one of the domains on ***.***.**.139, all login attempts fail. I am connecting to localhost and using the assigned user and password set up in fms.ini. Using either IP fails as well. The FMS server is set up to listen to all hosts as no specific IPs were set.
/var/log/messages show that FMS and the Admin Server are up an running and listening: Jul 7 12:15:37 228215-web1 Service[28196]: Server starting... Jul 7 12:15:37 228215-web1 Service[28196]: Server started (/opt/adobe/fms/conf/Server.xml).

All other settings for FMS are default. This is my first time setting up FMS as a fresh install on a new unknown server and I am at a loss as to what settings to check or which files I may need to modify to get it to connect properly. It is a managed server is hosted by rackspace.com if that makes any difference.
I have an *.flv file on a FMS. When I play it on the client side the video plays just fine, but when I call Stream.play(filename, 0, -1, false) on the server side the video turns out really choppy.I both cases I use NetConnection to connect to an rtmp and NetStream to play the stream, but in one case I connect to a stream and request the server to play my file on that stream. Apparently that doesn't work with files? It works just fine for live streams.
i have a small LAN of about 8 computers all of which are running windows 7. I have installed FMS and XAMPP webserver on one of the machines. I want to stream live from one PC to all the other PCs on the LAN. I have a webpage with jwplayer embedded in it on my XAMPP webserver that is able to see the live stream when i start it locally. I mean the live stream works fine on the machine with the servers on it. But when i want to view the live stream from another machine in the LAN by accessing the webpage that has the jwpalyer from another machine, The jwplayer returns "server not found:rtmp://192.168.10.1/live" error. I was thinking that maybe a firewall is blocking the 1935 port but i have turned off the firewall of every PC on the LAN. I have unistalled any antivirus program on all the PCs. But i still get the same error when i try to access the live stream from another PC on the LAN.When i run netstat -a -n|find ":1935" i get 192.168.10.2:49184 192.168.10.1:1935 SYN_SENT and i think the request for the stream is sent but the conection is rejected.
This is the code for the webpage with jwplayer embedded in it. maybe it: <html>head> <title>JW FLV Media Player</title> <script type="text/JavaScript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
I am streaming pre recorded audio files (mp4) to an AIR client. I have tried two different solutions, streaming the file directly with the NetStream.play("mp4:xxxxx.m4a") and creating a server side playlist, adding the same sound clip and then streaming the playlist. The problem is, when streaming the playlist i get a few NetStream.Play.InsufficientBW, this does not happen when streaming the file direct. Both solutions uses bufferTime=1.0
I would like to use a server side playlist to implement a simple key solution so that the client dont know the full path to the file, but instead sends a key to a custom server side function that looks up the file path and creates a stream for the client.
I am testing RTMFP unicast for a video chat project using FM Developer Server 4.0.During the testing I overloaded the upload traffic to make packets dropped rather than suffering delay due to retransmission.
However, I see it makes a significant delay and it looks like doing retransmission just like RTMP.
Do you know if there is an option in FMS to disable the retransmission or other configuration I have to consider?One thing I found is "Netstream.videoReliable=false; Netstream.audioReliable=false;" but it doesn't make any difference.
Somebody I know can't watch because they have a proxy server.The nc.connect() call to get the live stream fails because it goes direct from AS3 to FMS and doesn't go through the proxy server.
Dear community, i am searching for 6 days for a solution but i couldnt find. I installed the trial version of Adobe Media Server 4.5. I am trying to host live stream and it is working without error. but when i activate protection (PHDS), server gives en error code: 20...
Here is the server log...
After i could take the Live HDS, i made these settings as described at [url]
I'm attempting to make it so that when a person fails to fill in blank textboxes in another app that someone else made and I have nothing to do with but affects the XML node Path, my flash file will look instead at DefaultPath if it can't load whatever is in Path..
Is the code I've been trying to use but it won't do what I want. I keep getting this error:
VideoError: 1000: Unable to make connection to server or to find FLV on server
The XML is being properly loaded. Everything else is working. I just need to know that when something is blank it will look at the DefaultPath. I don't seem to be able to get it to do that.
I've spent a lot of time in the past couple of weeks learning Flash. I developed a Flash (swf) file that plays a Flash video (flv) with cue points. It all works very nicely locally, but when I put it on the server and try to access the html file, the Flash control is white (nothing visible) and a popup error message comes up with this error.I've looked all over the web (including non-English sites), tried playing with all the Publish settings I could think of (version check, local/network access, omit trace, enable debugging) and tried adding error handling code to the swf file itself. I've also tried changing the path for the flv file to be relative, absolute and somewhere in between, but nothing works.Does anybody know what can cause this error?
VideoError: 1000: Unable to make connection to server or to find FLV on server at fl.video::VideoPlayer/play() at fl.video::FLVPlayback/http://www.adobe.com/2007/flash/flvplayback
I seem to recall reading somewhere (but for the life of me I can't find the article I was reading), that with Adobe FMS you could store content on one machine, and then run the actual server on a separate machine. Is this correct? If so, how would you go about doing it?
Finding faults in my reasoning, or expanding the discussion further. We are benchmarking FMS 3.5.x for live dynamic streaming and we have run across an issue. When throttling the client from a high bandwidth (1500kbps) to a low bandwidth (325kbps) via a bandwidth shaper (a physical firewall) it takes a very long (real-) time for the client to see the new stream-quality.
During the investigation of this issue we have narrowed this down to:
1. when transition is requested from client, the client-side buffer is 1/2 i.e. 4-5seconds. 2. if transition is request on a client with unlimited bandwidth, it takes about 6 seconds for the server to process, find an acceptable switching position and send a "transition.complete" event. 3. on the throttled client however, this event takes much longer.
Does anyone knows if it's possible to write some bytes received from an AIR or Flex client in a server side file using the File class ? I have been trying for hours without any result.My goal is to store on the server side a swf file sended by a client in a ByateArray.Here is the code I have ended with, assuming that myfile.swf alreadey exists on the server prior to the code execution, and is at the right place, and that pBytes is a ByteArray received from the client which contains a swf file :
function writeFile( pBytes ) { var myFile = new File( "myFile.swf" );
it doesn't matter which operating system we install an our server.What are your experience with Linux and Windows?Which System do you recommend regarding performance issues?
to generate thumbnails of the streaming video to control de contents of the video streaming. Could I do that in the server side?There is any setting to do that? Could I use the getOnMetadata method to catch a bitarray and then put in into a bitmap file?
