I'm using bulkLoader to load my mp3 and flv files (thanks to dawsonk for hooking me up with the answer there), and now I need to be able to play/pause and jump ahead and back in the movie that I loaded, but I can't figure out how to reference it?Also, when I go to load another movie/audio from a button click, do I need to do anything with the old instance, or will flash take care of that??
Im trying to make a simple pacman game and im relatively new to as3 but I have found its very similar to java.What I'm trying to do is build a class that will control everything my pacman does, so if I create an instance of the class I would want to be able to set the position of my pacman by doing something like this:[code]Then I would like this code to call the setXPos function to update a "pacman" movie clip inside the Pac class. DocumentMain.as - the class file for pacman.fla, this file will instantiate the Pac.as class and tell it everything it has to do to the movie clip (created in the Pac.as file) on the stage.Pac.as - this is the class that creates the "pacman" movie clip, controls it via input from DocumentMain. as, and shows it on the pacman.fla stage.
I have a FLA (say Main.FLA) document class with a child MovieClip on the stage: into the child MovieClip I load other swf files: each of the files contains its own Document Class (every swf is a somewhat independent application, say quizzes and so on).For some reason I must use the Main document class to store data (scores or so) from the child swfs loaded into the Main swf. HOW do I reference the Main class? I can't find a way.[code]and dispatch an Event this way from the loaded swf document class to the Main class:[code]Now, first of all I don't know if this could even work. Secondly, I tried to make it work by adding an event listener to my Main class but id did not work.
I have buils a flash movie using a document class, all works fine. When I load the movie using a preloader all reference to the stage as in stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE; or stage.stageHeight throws a TypeError: Error #1009: I think i undrestand the problem, I am no longer accessing the stage properties. How do i access stage properties from the document class once loaded into the prelaoder?
Is it possible for me to have 1 movieclip consisting of multiple movie clips, in a .fla file, and reference specific frames of clips within a frame of the movie clip, from an outside .as file?
In a .fla file I have a movie clip that consists of several frames, each containing a different movie clip to perform different actions of a character I am attempting to animate.The basics of the code work fine, but now I'm trying to get into more detailed aspects of the characters actions and interactions and all the tutorials that I've come across thus far direct me to add various aspects of code throughout my animation which I feel would litter my program as this project grows.My basic code is as follows
class hero extends MovieClip{ variable definitions up here [code]...........
This works fine.Beyond this,I have a frame with the anchor lable "Punch" which contains a movie clip consisting of 5 frames.Is it possible for me to reference specific frames within the movie clip within this frame of the big movie clip?
Using Flash CS5 Professional I have created a symbol, dragged it onto the stage, and given it an instance name of GreenLight1. If I want to make this visible from the document class, I can simply do the GreenLight1.visible=true; and poof it's good to go when I test the file. As long as I stay in the document class I am good to go, but now I'm trying to move to another class and hitting ALL kinds of trouble just trying to get Flash to allow me to access this simple object. All I am looking to do is have this GreenLight1 go invisible (visible=false) when a certain condition occurs in this new class and Flash just won't let me access GreenLight1 at all. Things I've tried thus far:
stage is passed to the class and is referenced by _stage and is working just fine when I do _stage.addchild or anything like that. So I have tried "_stage.GreenLight1.visible=false;" and I get "ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property GreenLight1 not found on flash.display.Stage and there is no default value." My document class extends Sprite, so I figured I'd try the root function. So I tried "Sprite(root).GreenLight1.visible=false;" and I get "1119: Access of possibly undefined property GreenLight1 through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite." I tried to create the Resource class as described therein. To which I came across the same problem that I started with in that it doesn't know what GreenLight1 is to begin with so I got "1120: Access of undefined property GreenLight1." Here is my code for Resource.as (am I supposed to pass something to this class from the document class?)
Given that both of these calls to getQualifiedClassName return the same thing (mx:Label), how would one go about programatically differentiating between an instance of a class and a reference to the class...
var lab1:Label=new Label(); var lab2:Class=Label; var qcn1:String=getQualifiedClassName(lab1); var qcn2:String=getQualifiedClassName(lab2);
In other words, how could I know that lab1 is of type Label, while lab2 is type "Class". typeof() simply returns "object" for both... getQualifiedClassName returns "mx.controls::Label" for both...
I am doing a looping background with 2 identical BG movieClip (B1 and B2). Those 2 are "new" by the same class.
var B1:MovieClip = new BG(); var B2:MovieClip = new BG();
But because this BG class picture is loader from the internet and the picture is rather big. When I addressed its loading by using progressEvent. The picture is really loaded 2 times. Is there anyway I create B2 based on B1 without using new BG() again? Since it definitely makes a new BG with Loader code inside.
Once I get logged in on my login control, I would like to change the selected index of my ViewStack. From my outside controls, I cannot reference my ViewStack by name. I can reference a public static function from an outside control however I cannot refer to the ViewStack from within that function.
I want to retrieve the var reference of an instance of a class from within the class. For example:
ActionScript Code: var ref:MyClass = new MyClass (); //then via some method, I would like to get the var ref inside the class ref.getRef(); //returns "ref" instead of [object Object]
[Code]....
You may ask why, well I want to do some spring cleaning inside this manager class I am making. Of course the above is a simplistic version of what I am trying to do.
I need to call the class into to my control as file. The problem I'm getting now is this error. "environmentTab.lightsButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, selectLights);" environmentTab is a instance name of a movie clip that is on the stage of my .
In my project are pages of text with each word having a button that when pressed will display a movieclip presentation about that word (its pronounciation and spelling etc..). In the project I am working on now I have over 450 unique presentations of words to deal with. I don't want to have all of these hundreds of movie clips on the stage and tell them one at a time to stop and rewind and then have one play each time a word button is pressed. That seems to be very inefficient to me.
add movieclips to the stage using addChild(movieclipname) and remove them using removeChild(movieclipname) but there is a problem. I have hundreds of unique movieclips and I don't want to have to manage hundreds of variables containing the indivudual movieclip instancess. It is a real pain having to figure out what instance is still on the stage before i delete it.In Adobe Director all I have to do is this:
Here it is: In scene 1 i have a movie clip(1), and inside that clip, i have another clip (2) The thing is, i want to push clip 2, and when i do that i want to go to a diffrent frame in clip 1. The thing is i cant seem to control clip 1 with clip 2. I think its probably because i have to tell clip 2 that its clip 1 its commanding and not the root in scene 1 or something.
I am targeting a a movie clip. The problem is that all the syntax I have found for targetting clips looks like this: _root.sample_mc.sample2.mc. etc. The problem is, my target clip is in an swf that I've loaded into a container clip from my main timeline. So, essentially, I have a home.swf that loads menu.swf into a container called 'location'. In menu.swf, I have an MC called center, which contains the MC I am targetting called 'target'.
I'm writing a card game in AS3. The artist I'm working with has produced (in Flash CS4) a single swf-file containing all the card graphics and animations. The structure of the fla working file looks something like this:
In the program I create 52 instances of my Card class, each having a MovieClip instance created from the loaded swf. The idea is to set the frame of the CardValueImage MovieClip to correspond to the Card instance's suit and rank member variables. However, I can't figure out how I access CardValueImage and call gotoAndStop (or whatever method I will need to call).
I am loading some external images, that bit is sorted. What I cant seem to figure out is how to reference the newly loaded image.
Here is the snippet of code I have ActionScript Code: public function loadImg(img:String):void { loader.load(new URLRequest(img)); myHolder.addChild(loader); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaded); } private function loaded(event:Event):void { //How do I reference the new image here so I can do stuff to it? }
I know how to do it in AS2 but cant seem to get at it here. Is it passed through the event?
Let's say I have a movieclip in my SWF's library, and its linkage is set to "MyClip" and it's set to export.
I can add it to the stage by saying "addChild (new MyClip as MovieClip)"
Now let's say I load a SWF as a loader object, and that loaded SWF has a similarly linked movieclip. How do I reference the linked movieclip in the loaded SWF?
I'm loading a lightbox as an image gallery, but I'm working on changing it to full flash. My site is structured with external swfs. I ran into a barrier, because I'll need to load the images (and reference the stage size) in the root timeline, but I don't know how. MovieClip(root) only references the smaller loaded swf's main timeline.
I am making a web site in flash in which I have multiple movie clips.I have mc_buttonMenu on the main timeline.Inside of mc_buttonMenu, I have 3 buttons that are all button symbols.From the main timeline, I have a movie clip called mc_allPages.In this movie clip, I have a few layers.I have the content layer.This layer controls how my pages display.I have another layer called labels.I labeled frames 1 to 10 as 'home' and layers 11 to 20 as 'contactUs'.I have another layer in mc_allPages called actions.I put a stop(); on frame 10 and frame 20 on this layer.I want to be able to control the movie clip mc_allPages from within the movie clip mc_buttonMenu.I put some action script in various places, but it never worked.I tried this action script:
I tried placing that code on the main timeline, inside mc_allPages, inside mc_buttonMenu and split up into both buttons appropriately for btn_home and btn_contactUs.Sometimes the animation would stop on frame 10 and sometimes it would just play through to frame 20 and ignore the stop(); I put on frame 10 inside the mc_allPages movie clip.However, whenever I pressed the button ( btn_contactUs ), it never went to the frame labeled "contactUs" in the allPages movie clip.
how can I reference a namless clip in as3? In the debugger I only can see my named clips but I don't see where the other clips are. I try work without names to easily copy them without creating a new name for every new clip.
I want to load a swf into my main movie but it won't work as I want it to. Seperatly both files work fine and even the main movie works fine when loading the external swf. When loaded the external swf doesn't as it should and I get the error-message "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at port_ill_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()"...
Now, I know the problem have to be in the external swf since I've asked it to trace the result in the "for..var" method I use to create thumbs that works as buttons, but it only returns 0 when it should på at least 9.I don't know why it seems to be a problem as the main movie also are able load other external swf-files without any problems at all.theese files doesn't contain any actionscript triggering events in theese files, etc. Anyway, here is the code for the main movie:
var portUrl:URLRequest = new URLRequest(); var portLoader:Loader = new Loader(); function portCompl(Ev:Event):void{
We have a web app. built in flash that allows customers to upload images and text, customize the container in which these will be shown (a swf file) and then embed the code into thier website. There is also a sharing options that allows their users to display this container, together with the content, on their websites. (For e.g you can see the container as the Youtube player and the content as the videos the user chooses to show). The swf container uses an XML file to know what to display.
Now, I am not a flash developer, but a person who takes care of the project.We are currently working on the app and the swf and we still find bugs. Every time we fix sth, I am told to erase my cache to see the changes. My concern is that the client/users might not see the newer version that we make available, but the old one. We can't tell them to erase the cache and we can't afford to renounce using the cache since the images are big.I was told that, sometimes, the browser does not see that the current version is a new one and loads it from the cache (actually, it never detected that there is a newer version and I always had to erase the cache). How can we tell the browser "now, load the swf from cache" or "now, don't load the swf from cache".
