I have a movieClip inside a parent movieClip on the stage. The parent movieClip's registration point is top left. I'm having trouble figuring out how to "center" (move) the parent movieClip so that it's child movieClip is in the center of the stage. How do I calculate those destination coordinates?
I'm looking to create something like the link below, [URL].. however I need it to work on both x and y,I've been trying for days to figure out a way to pull this off,
can anyone point me to a tutorial or an example of something along those lines?
I need to position an object in the bottom half of a container (working on flex 4)- abt 25% above the bottom...and cant use x,y coordinates given need for resizing. I have been able to position the layout containers and they work well
Also need fonts to resize as the buttons get smaller
I was wondering, is there a way to change if (myClip_mc._x < 400) { to a relative position of myClip_mc. I mean, i want myClip_mc to move 100px from it's current position everytime the button is clicked. Instead of only moving it if it's x position is less than 400. So it needs to somehow check it's current position everytime the button is clicked and then make it shift from that position. I know this is a long winded way of doing it but i want it this way so i can use it for something different.
I have been wondering over this for a while now and I have tried a number of different soloutions to no avail. I am used to designing HMTL website but for a portfolio I would like to create a Flash site. One problem is dynamic screen sizes, although I have a soloution it isn't idealy what I would like.
My current soloution is to size the stage to a 1024 x 768 resoloution and scale it to 100% on a webpage. The background for my flash is massive, 1920 x 1080, equivelent to full HD size, to support as many screens as possible, the flash has a No Scale atribute. Unfortunatly this method dosen't only increase filesize, but makes the content restricted to a small area of the screen which looks terrible on large displays.
Whe I use the code below in a template set up as a movie clip it appears and works fine but when i nvagate away from it the relative alignment code remains for the rest of the pages. Would use a remove child how would this look?
I have one Sprite which acts as a container for two other Sprites. One has a picture the other has a series of hotspots.
If i change the scaleX and scaleY of the picture, the hotspots don't line up anymore. Do you know the correct equation so that any scale i set will always make the hotspots appear at the right place?
I am building a project where I have 15 'islands' inside one big 'ocean' movie clip. I created navigation buttons so you can explore the Ocean movie clip and look around the islands. my problem comes when i want to 'zoom into an island'
So basically on the stage i have a movie clip called- Ocean_mc, and inside it are 15 movie clips, one of them (for this example) is a movie clip called GreenIsland_mc.
when a user clicks the GreenIsland_mc it needs to expand and place itself centre stage, then when clicked again in needs to colaps back to where it came from. The problem is that when GreenIsland_mc expands it needs to expand to coordinates relative to the stage, but when I shrink it back again it need to find the original coordinates relative to its place inside the Ocean_mc movie clip.
I am developing a game for mobile in AIR (as3). I have created some bots for this game that initially just wander around. But when a bonus enters the stage, they have to move to the bonus.The detection of a new bonus and moving of the bots works fine, but there is something wrong with the manipulation when a new bonus enters the stage.Basically, this is how it works (or I try to make it work):My bot moves along with his rotation as a parameter. (works fine)
private function moveToNextLocation():void { var angle:Number = _rotation * 0.0174532925; // 1 degree = 0.0174532925 radians var speedX:Number = Math.sin(angle) * _speed;
I am new to Flash and ActionScript 3.0 environment. I don't have any knowledge in depth with Flash and ActionScript 3.0. I am using the flash(.swf file) in my Java application. Now, this .swf file is to be placed in the server system. While I am working with these, I faced an error. Here, my issue/problem(s) starts....
1.)With the help of URLRequest & URLLoader classes, I am loading a jpg file dynamically onto the stage using the following code:
I was trying to convert global coordinates to local coordinates of a UIComplenent in my flex project using below code using below code
var gp:Point = new Point(e.stageX,e.stageY); //global point var lp:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp); //local point
uic is UIComponent in which I have subclass of Sprite for drawing something I have set the sprite's mouseEnabled and mouseChildren to false to not interrupt the mouse event. above code is within uic's mousemove event where I was tracing the gp and lp gp was giving correct value and suprisingly lp was giving negetive values. when I move the move to the top left corner of uic i expect lp to be 0,0 but it is giving the -width of of uic. I broke my head for hours and ended up finding an alternate by using offsets. Infact my original code was much simpler like this which was same issue
var lp:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY);
I am not sure what exactly is causing this problem. the workaround had lot of issues and it creating a mess in my rest of the algorithms.Just now I found even more interesting thing (which is actually weird). for some reason I went and create a new lp2
var lp2:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY);
now surprisingly it was giving correct values as expected and I went back and changed the code as
var gp:Point = new Point(e.stageX,e.stageY); //global point var lp:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp); //local point var lp2:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY); var lp2:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp);
now it is expected to have all the lp, lp2 and lp3 variables to be same but weiredly lp two is giving wrong value and lp2 and lp3 were giving correct. I am suspecting using the variable lp has something to do. I am not sure about that but above proves it so right now I am using lp2.
I was reading the 'Isometric Transformations' tutorial by Danko Kozar and I have a few questions. I understand what all the code does, but not how it does it. First of all, how does the following code work:
transforms x,y,z coordinates into Flash x coordinate xFla = function (x, y, z) { // cartesian coordinates[code].....
I understand that it converts 3d coordinates to 2d coordinates, but I don't understand how. What numbers whould be punched into x, y, and z to acquire certain desired effects?Also, what's the difference between moveTo and lineTo:
red line style(1, "0xFF0000", 100); plot(0, 0, 0); draw(200, 0, 0);
Im making a little app in flash using papervision I want to make a regular movieClip show up in the same place as a papervision object. The coordinates seem like perspective is affecting the number displayed.
I have a BlazeDS destination and the scope is set to request. Is there a way to get BlazeDS to call destroy() when the request is complete? Is there another way to know when the request is complete?
I know I can use finalize(), but that is only called when garbage collection occurs.
how to structure the comms of a blazeds/flex game. What I'm trying to achieve is to have x no. of games occuring on the server each of which will contain 2 to 6 players. i think this will involve segmenting a feed, by creating a subtopic. eg game A gets filled with Player A + Player B, a dynamic destination gets created on the server side, and the new destination id gets returned to the clients. Not sure if I have that correct - to give some further background - the main server side code for a 2 player setup is here
Connecting multiple flex clients to a single java class
I'm using Parsley in my flex mobile project. I have multiple destination services but I can't find more resources on how to add another destination service to config.xml file. The file is as below:
I'm building an swf that's suppose to work locally (offline).That swf is like a menu for some other swf that the user will download and will be prompted to put them in the same folder of the main swf.What I want to do is the main swf to be able to recognise which swf the user have downloaded in order to show them 'available' on main menu.Is there a way to check the folder destination for swf files or something?
I have some flash banners for an affiliate program. On my own sites I use an ad serving program and just set the destination URL of the flash banners using the program. However, I want users to be able to modify the destination URL when they put the banner on their own websites. How can I accomplish this? There's no implementation restriction but I want something as simply as possible for my affiliates to copy and paste.
I have an application already created that will upload files successfully, with a progress bar and completion notices and am very happy with the process, but sometimes people upload a file with the same name as an existing file. Is there a way to change the name of the destination file on my server to something more standard during the upload process? I have been using a fileReference.Browse() with capturing all my event handlers through there.
I am trying to make a flash theme for my website. Lets start off by saying I downloaded a theme already made I just gotta edit the text. What I want to know is how I can edit the destination of the flash buttons they are set to move across the page on a marquee. I am able to find the individual file but when I try putting in
Code: on(release){ getURL("[URL]", "_blank"); }
It responds Cannot Make this change cause mouse settings can only be done to a button. I understand I have to switch it to Action - Button.
I having a problem with this menu I'm making. Everything is working pretty well, however, there is an overlapping problem within the menu once it reaches its destination. [AS] (i<=2) { i++; bar_mc.duplicateMovieClip("bar_mc"+i, i); this["bar_mc"+i]._y = (bar_mc._y-i*bar_mc._height); } startPos = bar_mc._y; MovieClip.prototype.myBar = function() { [Code] .....
I have built a FB4 application which accesses a .NET web service of a partner company. The app runs just fine in FB4 development environment, but won't work when published to my server. I can not figure out how to get past the following error: Security error accessing url Destination: DefaultHTTP It is unlikely that I will get a crossdomain.xml file on their server, so I'm trying to get it to work using a proxy. The proxy.php is located in the same directory as the swf, and it works just fine if I use it directly in the browser.
The following is what I currently have setup:
proxy.php: <?php $session = curl_init(trim(urldecode($_GET['url']))); // Open the Curl session curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_HEADER, false); // Don't return HTTP headers curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); // Do return the contents of the call
instead of moving to 'distance' and staying there, the MC moves back and forth once it reaches it's destination. this is because even when _x = distance, the first if statement (_x<distance) keeps executing. At first I thought this didn't make any sense, and there has to be a reasonable explanation. I've managed to isolate and even solve the problem, but the mystery remains:
i am using mxmlc for building the flex projects using ant.how to use flex builder-> copy non embeded files to destination folder compiler option in ANT
