Flash :: Positioning Objects Relative To MovieClip That Has ScaleX And ScaleY Changed

Sep 23, 2010

I have one Sprite which acts as a container for two other Sprites. One has a picture the other has a series of hotspots.

If i change the scaleX and scaleY of the picture, the hotspots don't line up anymore. Do you know the correct equation so that any scale i set will always make the hotspots appear at the right place?

I'm trying stuff like this:

hotspot.x *= scaleFactor;
hotspot.y *= scaleFactor;

but i can't quite sort it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Website - Relative Movieclip Positioning

Jun 8, 2010

I have been wondering over this for a while now and I have tried a number of different soloutions to no avail. I am used to designing HMTL website but for a portfolio I would like to create a Flash site. One problem is dynamic screen sizes, although I have a soloution it isn't idealy what I would like.

My current soloution is to size the stage to a 1024 x 768 resoloution and scale it to 100% on a webpage. The background for my flash is massive, 1920 x 1080, equivelent to full HD size, to support as many screens as possible, the flash has a No Scale atribute. Unfortunatly this method dosen't only increase filesize, but makes the content restricted to a small area of the screen which looks terrible on large displays.

I'm using a tween on an imported file on MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT that will scale it X/Y up by 1.2. The problem is that the scaling starts in the upper left hand corner and moves out from that point. I want the scaling to start from the center.

Code:

I was wondering, is there a way to change if (myClip_mc._x < 400) { to a relative position of myClip_mc. I mean, i want myClip_mc to move 100px from it's current position everytime the button is clicked. Instead of only moving it if it's x position is less than 400. So it needs to somehow check it's current position everytime the button is clicked and then make it shift from that position. I know this is a long winded way of doing it but i want it this way so i can use it for something different.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash 5 - X And Y Positioning Of MovieClip

Oct 28, 2009

I always run into the same bug concerning the x and y positioning of a Movie clip. When I try to get the X and Y values of a movie clip inside another movie clip, they aren't the same values (since I guess every MC has it's own x,y grid starting at point 0,0 where that MC is placed on the work area). How do I get the x and y values of a MC inside another MC when I want those values to be the same as the _root's x and y values? In other words: The movie clip that is inside the other one is moving on a simple guide path. I want to create "lasers" (or whatever) at its own coordinates every few seconds depending on where that moving MC is at when the shooting counter is up.

Flash :: Scaling Onstage MovieClip With "scaleX" Breaks Timeline Animation?

Nov 3, 2009

I'm scaling onstage MovieClips via AS properties "scaleX" or "scaleY", which kills any kind of animation the clips have within their container MovieClip, be it Classic or Motion Tweens. When I don't scale the MovieClips, they animate fine. I'm able to tell the clips to "gotoAndStop" on their own internal frames, and that doesn't affect their animation within their container clip. I'm referencing the clips via AS w/ their instance names defined in the IDE. I've also tried different clips and recreated them, getting the same behavior.

Is it possible to scale a clip via AS and still have it animate within its container timeline?

Does applying an AS property to an onstage instance somehow dissassociate it from other timeline properties?

Flash :: MovieClip Progress Bar Width Is Too Small Relative To Parent Container?

Feb 17, 2010

On the stage I have a movieclip (Container, originally 200px width) and inside it with a progressbar movieclip (originally 700px width), scaled with Free Transform Tool to fit the parent container. The width of the container changes run-time while resizing the scene.

In ActionScript I have a function which should set the progress bar width according to a calculated percentage value:

private function updateProgress(event:TimerEvent):void
{
var barWidth:int = _container.width;
var progress:Number = _stream.time / _stream.duration * barWidth;
_progressBar.width = progress;
}

My problem is that the progressBar even at full time (100%) is only at 1/4 of the parent container. I assume that it comes from the symbols original size.

Can I correct this programatically, or I must redesign it with the "designer"?
