I have an .swf with four frames as each page for my portfolio website. A home, about, work and contact. When your on the work page I want to be able to click on a thumbnail of my work which brings you to a HTML page with the work on it and then a close button that brings you back to the swf on the work page in the SWF..

I am working on a very old file developed by my predessessor. The application use JavaScript to capture keyboard input and send it to Flash. All works well untill the point that you have to click on the embedded Flash file to enter some text. Then the user have to press Enter on the keyboard. Problem is that the minute the user click on the Flash file, the focus is set to the Flash. I need to reset the Focus back to the JavaScript in the Html in order for the keyboard Enter to trigger.
From what I have read I must use something like this to make it work:
document.body.focus();
Essentially, can one swf on a page pass info to another swf on the same page (ie swf1 --> jscript --> swf[2,3,4] or swf1--> swf[2,3,4]??)
Given a web-page of somewhat standard design (menu options and a content area) where the menu options are individual swf is there a mechanism for letting the parent client know that a particular swf AS3 has received input?
Been puzzling this for a while. No F1 has turned up anything nor have general or forum searches. Didn't come across any output PARAMs (ala MS-SQL T-SQL). Did I miss them? NavigatetoURL() seemed possible but that either opened a new window (default) or using "_parent" just wiped out the current window contents completely. Using _parent with <framesets> pretty much resulted in the same wipeout.
Is it possible for a flash header to play continuously through several html pages without going back to the first frame on each page load?

View 1 RepliesI had posted this in the PHP section but think it may be more relevant in Flash as have'nt had any replies yet..I have been asked to create a photo canvas website that allows users to upload an image, then apply several effects such as re-sizing/cropping/desaturate, then viewing the updated image on a generic wall and going to check out to buy the canvas.I am pretty new to web developing/designing, i am confident with html,css and actionscript to an extent, but have only used small parts of php before.My biggest worry is how to go between html > php >flash >back to html again.From what i understand i need to create the following functions:
1. Create a general html website which will store the upload form and flash photo editor swf on, when the user first access's the site i start the php session...
2. The user then uploads there image to the server using a simple php upload form which will store the file and create a unique named file also on the server...
3. The flash editor swf will then load up on the html page. Inside the actionscript of the swf i will tell flash to continue with the php session by calling it again and call users image on the server with the 'file reference' command. The editing functions such as cropping, canvas size will all have variables to mark what the user has chosen and these varaibles will get ent back to the html page using php to keep track of them for the checkout process...
4. Once the editing has finished the user will click 'finish' in the swf taking them to the php shopping basket/checkout which will call the variables sent in flash to determine final cost depending on what effects chosen.
Is the above correct and more importantly is it possible? The main part i am struggling to get my head around is editing in flash (say changing the uploaded image to 20 x 26) and then saving this back to the server and sending the new settings back into the html/php page.Is this all possible without using database and tables such as MySql?
Question: I have an swf that is 1024x1600 and is embedded in an html doc. I have content on the bottom of this swf that when clicked should force the browser to jump back to the top of the html doc containing the swf. This is simple to do with anchors and links in html, but is it possible with AS3?
View 3 RepliesI got a dwg file converted into swf file. Now I want this swf file to embed in html page. No issue with that. The tricky part for me is to let the user select the entites of the file such as line/circle as one might select in autocad. After entity selection the swf file (by any means) pass the selected entity information back to the html page ( to the javascript function).
View 5 RepliesI've made a flash application using actionscript 3, I wanted this application size to be dynamic, To be able to embed it in any size and let it adjust itself accordingly. I managed to accomplish this, theres a problem though: The original width of the application is 700 pixels. I'm embedding the flash in a smaller size, (400 for example) going to full screen, and when I exit, the application sets itself back to being 700 pixels wide, and isn't adjusting itself to the 400px width of the actual embedding area..

I am working on a having external swfs get loaded into the main swf one by one from an array.I can get the first one to load, but it just keeps on playing the first item in the array over and over, instead of loading the next movie. I have a container on my stage, cleverly named "container" and I am using AS2 and loadMovie.
I am guessing my conditon on my if statement is off, but I am not sure how to tell the onEnterFrame to check the currentframe of the loaded swf and not the container itself. I might be way off, but in my mind I feel like this mostly makes sense, but knowing Flash it is probably not nearly enough coding.I might also add this won't be running on the web, so I don't need to worry about preloading swfs since it will be running directly off a PC onto a screen in our office.Here is my code:

I've got the standard scene 1 with three frames on it. the first frame has a movie clip with about a 70 frame timeline. the second frame has a movie clip with about a 20 frame timeline. the third frame is black with a stop action. i'm trying to make a leaderboard banner, and i need each clip to play one after the other.
right now, when ctrl+enter it plays nothing. i actually have to rewind it to have it play the first clip. then it just repeats the first clip and completely skips the second. in the first clip's timeline, I have a parent.gotoAndPlay(2); on the last frame.

question: is it possible to click on the button in aaa.html and have the action occur in bbb.html? (for example, clicking the button in aaa.html will load a swf in bbb.html)

basically this code will work like a browser back button its very simple but "could end up very long" basically it will act "similiar to the browser back button"

it works when the (page1 = _currentframe){ is rotated with the first if statement...because for somereason it seems to not recognise the "else if's"
Sometimes flash seems to execute two loops faster that one loop which contains all of the actions that the first two loops contain. Does flash cash processes so that repetitive processes are performed faster if they are performed back-to-back?

UPDATE 2010-05-14: If I'm not mistaken HD.se uses Flowplayer and all those flasvars are for that. Perhaps someone here is good with Flowplayer? I've never used it myself.
trying to work with "simple" XML for the first time. I'm building a small CMS for a Flash based site and the content is held in an XML file. My problem is that many of the copy fields are XML CDATA fields. on the one hand, with:
$xml = simplexml_load_file($file, 'SimpleXMLElement', LIBXML_NOCDATA);
I can pull the data out of that node and the CDATA tags are stripped. My issues come with trying to save the data with:
file_put_contents($file, $xml->asXML());
Problems are: a) tags are interpreted with their HTML entity equivalents. I don't want this to happen.I gather this is coming from the asXML method because even if I do anhtml_entity _decode on the $_POST data it's still being converted.
b) because of the above, there's no way to add the CDATA tags because they also have their charachters converted.

I need to allow users to preview audio files for purchasing. I have CF pages that return records form a SQL database. Each record contains the same swf file however, each swf file points to a different mp3 for previews of different audio examples. So far, everything is working fine. My problem is that I need to be able to stop the sound from one swf when I click to play a second swf .The only solutions I see in Flash forums deal with loaded swf files. These are not loaded files they are separate files within a page. The question is: How do control one swf from another swf in the same page.The following items have not worked: soundChannel.stop();,soundMixer.stopAll()

I was wondering if it is possible to create a flash movie that rotates values that are stored in HTML. For example if i have these 3 containers:

I want to have some flash movie rotate these values every 10 seconds. I don't want to program it hard into flash, it has to be variable. It has to display the first set, then after 10 sec the second, and so on.Maybe if it is possible something that stops the toggle, and skip to just the second, or just the third.I also don't want to use javascript to do this (jQuery etc.), because this conflicts with another timer on the website.Is there a way of doing this?
