I want to save HTMLText, read from a textfield, and save it. Problem I am facing is that the data comes with < and > instead of regular HTML < and > tags. how can I get the angled brackets instead of < and > ?

I then have another textfield which I am setting like so:tb.htmlText = "Test <b>Test</b>";For some reason, the bold text is not displaying as bold, but as regular weight. I have tried embedding the fonts in the library, using the [Embed] meta tag and even resorted to using CSS to force the fontFamily. Weirdly, I can use Font.enumurateFonts and see both fonts are embedded, but the textfield refused to use the bold version inside the < b > tags.I've been told this is a problem with Flash CS4 on a mac and that it will work on PC. I refuse to believe this is the case, however. Surely Adobe would have fixed this by now?

It seems htmlText is rearranging the html tags. Even though the output is the same, I need the original html back since I am making a text editor and the AFTER htmlText is messing up my tag calculations.
why does font embedding in Flash have to always be so difficult? I'm trying to add a new font for use in htmlText and its not working. I have a dynamic text box on the stage. I have Helvetica Medium, Helvetica Bold and Futura Bk and Futura Bk Bold fonts embedded using the Font Embedding panel. All four of these fonts work fine when I do the following:

I'm in the middle of the painful transition to AS3, and have encountered a stonewall. In AS2 you could export any font for actionscript and use its identifier (for example "Font 1") in htmlText:
my_text.htmlText = <font face="Font 1" size="20">"+Some text+"</font>"
But what's the procedure in AS3, as fonts doesn't have identifiers, only a class name?

I'm importing text in from an xml file and i'm using htmlText to try to keep some styling with tags. I have both the regular and bold face font embedded, and the bolding works fine. The problem is that it ads spaces around the words in bold like a paragraph indent and then makes a line-break after them. What's going on, is there a way to fix?

If I pull the text in from a txt file it will work fine, but taking it out of an xml file causing funky formatting.
I am using a TextArea. I set its htmlText as follows:

The problem is that there are always 2 lines in text area when it runs......when i remove this i get usual one line but then i m not able to set color and all.I want to use textarea, set different colors on it and i dont want 2 lines in that.....
HTMLText is displaying really strangely. I'm displaying a textField with htmlText provided through XML, and in this bulleted list it'll display the first line all on one line, keep going off the end of the textareas size (ie. not do multiline) until the last word of the bullet, then put that word at the start of the next line. And it'll put the last word on the next line no matter how long your bullet item is.
eg.
myField.htmlText = "<li>Seek the input of experts</li>;
Would output
'seek the input of
experts'
I've checked and this thread was similar however I've removed all my tweens to test and it hasn't had any effect.
what to do about this? I've tried these to no avail:
myField.htmlText = myString;
myField.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
myField.wordWrap = true;
Am working on a flash component that is supposed to display some dynamic text which might include HTML formatting. This text is displayed in a label component (AS3), and i would want it to render correctly, like create a line break when <br> is inserted, but it doesn't!
So am wondering what the supported HTML tags in the label component, and in general all other flash components?
I am trying to print a string with html formatting. Part of the formatting includes font face. I have found that my print job will not print any string that includes a font face declaration. I'm guessing because the font isn't embedded, but I'm not positive.
This works:

View 3 RepliesI have made a cartoon section that needs to go into a video movie, it uses a lot of movie clips etc. It needs to be very high resolution- 1920x1080 When I just export it as an avi, none of the movie clips animate- they just slide around on the first frame of their animations.
When I export is as a .mov the file size is huge and I am not even offered the ability to compress it. It is like 8 gigs. When it was finally done the movie played in slow motion- the clip was about twice as long as it should have been.When I saved the file as an swf, and then tried to convert it to an avi using a converter, all the movie clips moved in doubletime, while the animations in the timeline were fine. How can I get my flash file to play in a standard video format.
is there a way, anyway, to save a flash file to reader?

However, the project I'm currently working on was started in CS3 and I need to keep it as a CS3 as I transfer the .fla file between two computers because one only has Flash CS3. Is there way of setting it so when I click 'Save' or Ctrl+S it saves it automatically as a CS3 fla, rather than automatically converting it from a CS3 to CS4 file? I'm serial Ctrl+S hitter so this is getting really annoying now having to go to File>Save As everytime!

View 3 RepliesI have a couple of Flash CS5 users who are having problems saving files. They can open the file, edit/make changes to the file and save it and from all appearances the save has been successful - the save progress bar has popped up and completed and everything "looks" ok.
However the file changes were not saved. This problem is intermittent, however if it is occuring in the current flash "session" then it will affect all save actions performed - including attempting to save the existing file under a new filename. I've checked for obvious problems on the PC including disk errors and readonly files and so on but I'm otherwise at a loss to explain why this is happening?
I bought a flash intro for my website, I edit it, then I go to save it which works. When I try to re-open my saved file, Adobe Flash crashes. why it keeps crashing whenever I go to re-open the project.
View 1 RepliesI need some help on how to save down a file. I created a flat vector design with linear and radial gradients. I now have to save this file down to be viewed and worked on in a very old version of Macromedia Flash (Yep, it's that old). The end file needs to be a .SWF. The problem I am having is when I save down, the curves of the vector are lost and get choppy and the gradients lose their coloring and don't look correct at all. I have saved down to every version Illustrator allows me to, exported as a SWF, manually dropped it into Flash CS4 and saved down but it never comes out looking the same.
There is only 1 layer in the file, all shapes are vectors, no masks and the only "effects" I guess you could say, are the gradient fills. how to get this file into Flash and keep it's curves and gradients?
For a project we need to download and save pdf files on an IPAD device for offline use through an AIR for iOs application. After a lot of searching I haven't found much information on this subject.
