ActionScript 3.0 :: Updated Main.as But .fla Does Not Update

Feb 21, 2011

I bought a Flash gallery recently which I'm trying to update but with no luck. I changed the stage size and published it with no problems but a pop-up MC is too big and controlled via the main.as. I modified the code like below and published the movie again but the pop-up remains the same size...

Code:
// a container store all the thumbnails
private var thumbnailContainer : Sprite = new Sprite();
// size of the thumbnail container

Media Server :: Netstream.seek - Parameter Gets Updated And Drops Backs After Update

Jun 18, 2010

I am using OSMF v1.0 along with FMS 3.5.3 and flash player 10.1. Whenever i do a seek, lets say to a time 't'. Netstream.time gives me an incorrect result which is more than 1.5*t (varies). So if i seek to 100, i get netstream.time as approx. 160. I also noticed, 'NetStream.info.VideoBufferLength' goes very high (from around 3-4 to 50-60) just before the Netstream.time parameter gets updated and drops backs after update.

Flash :: Professional - Update Via SCUP - The Client Is Not Supposed To Be Interfered With The Update Progress

Nov 17, 2011

I am deploying Updates via SCUP and SCCM to hundreds of Computers. Fortunately Adobe provides an SCCM Update Catalog for both Adobe Flash ActiveX and Adobe Flash Plugin. But now my Problem: After publishing the Update via SCCM, the client is not supposed to be interfered with the Update Progress (which is working) I figured the Updater works like this: First SCCM checks if a Update needs to be deployed, if this is the case, The Flash Updater begins. First the old Flash Version is beeing uninstalled. But now: if the Client has a Browser Window (IE, or Firefox) open, the Updater is not able to install the new Flash Version and quits with an Error. This leaves the Client PC without any Flash (because its being uninstalled before) How can I prevent Flash being uninstalled due to the Update progress not working while a Browser window is open?

Flex :: Gui - Panel Not Being Updated?

Dec 29, 2009

I am drawing a cellular automaton simulation on a Flex Canvas. I alternate computing the state of the automaton with updating the graphics on the Panel. However, the updating of the Panel does not seem to be "keeping up" with the update of the CA state.

I'm wondering whether I am doing something wrong with my handling of the graphics code. The code is below. Sorry it's so lengthy, but I don't think the problem will happen with anything simpler (well, it probably will, but I'm not certain I want to take the time to find it).

ActionScript 3.0 :: [Updated] FP 10.1 First Impressions

Right off the bat, with the few new things that I've messed around with so far, I haven't really run into much in FP 10.1 that's both interesting and working with my particular setup. Flex :: Why Does TileList SelectedIndex Not Get Updated

Aug 14, 2009

In the code below, the presentedAlbumIndex is used to control the selectedIndex of the TileList. Item "five" is initially selected. Whenever the button is pressed the first item in the array is deleted, and the presentedAlbumIndex is decremented.

In theory, the selected index should stay with "five" every time the button is clicked (until "five" is itself deleted). It works this way for the first button press. However, on the 2nd button press the highlighting changes to "six" for some reason. Also, the TileList selectedIndex is always one behind.

I tried looking into ListBase and monitoring selectedIndex. It looks like the selectedIndex is updated initially to the correct index, but then it reverts back at some point to the correct index+1. I do not know why it's setting back.

It seems it's due to the fact that I am doing a data provider delete and index change in the same operation.

Is there some function in TileList I could override to keep selectedIndex up to date?

myThoughts

- It needs to read XML "parse it etc"

- variables receive e:data instead "my struggle with passing values and function calls"

Flex :: Datagrid Not Updated Properly?

Jul 19, 2011

I have two tables: Person {pID, pName, deptID} and Departments {deptID,deptName}An SQL statement like this gets me the name of a person and the department name:

SELECT pName, departments.deptName FROM people INNER JOIN people.deptID = departments.deptID;

The above works fine. I have a Flex DropDownList that is populated with deptNames. When I click the submit button, I am able to obtain the ID of the selected department without problem:

protected function button_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
{
person.pName=pNameTextInput.text;
person.deptID=pDepartmentDropDownList.selectedItem.deptID; //ID of selected department obtained correctly.
if (person.pID == 0)

[code]....

From the comment above, I see that adding person will indeed add the attributes of the person object to the datagrid, except that one attribute is a foreign ID (deptID) from departments.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Scrollable Content Gets Updated Via XML?

Jun 14, 2007

I am using the scroll code from tutorials and it's working beautifully.

Except, scrollable content gets updated via XML and once that happens, viewable content location resets to the initial y position, which is the top of the content.

Since the height of the content movieclip changes - either reduce or increase - scroll function is called each time, but, it'd be desirable to leave the viewing location the way it was before update. So the user doesn't have to scroll back down to where they were. And update occurs every so often by a timer.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Reload An Updated, Remote Xml File?

Jul 8, 2009

This seem like a silly question but as far as I've found: It's impossible to reload an xml file from a remote location while the SWF is running.

For example, I have a kiosk project that will run 24/7 (with a restart each night). I have an "calendar events" loading off an XML file that I want to keep on a webserver so I can update the kiosk by editing the XML file. However, the SWF caches the first XML file and keeps reusing it. I'm testing this by triggering a function that reloads the XML file with a button click.

I found trick that concats a unique ID to the file name which prevents using the old file but that means I'll have an ever growing list of XML files in the Temporary Internet Files folder.

DataGrid Inserted Data Not Being Updated Fast Enough?

Jun 26, 2009

I have a multi-column DataGrid that I've populated only three of the seven columns with data. One of the columns are editable. The other three are not editable. What I intend to do is have the user enter data into the editable column. Once the data is entered, The other three empty non-editable columns will populate based on calculations done to the value in the editable column.The problem is that when I enter data into a row of the editable column, the data isn't being reflected as entered until I try to add a new row. Is there any way to get the value being entered into the cell right after it is entered without the user having to enter a new row?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Ensuring A Static Var Stays Updated?

I want to get the index of the image currently in the center of the carousel and then I want to use this index number in other classes but it has to stay updated each time.Isuccessfully managed to get the index of the image that is currently being clicked on (this image will then be moved to the center of the carousel so as long as one always clicks on an image at the start, my method will work ) but I dont know how to allow other classes to access this. I tried saving it as a static var and then trying to access it by using the following:

private var coverIndex : int = CoverFlow.selectedCoverIndex;

But I receive the error msg that selectedCoverIndex is not available to static class CoverFlow or something of that sort. This is what my CoverFlow code looks like (i.e. where I determine which image I want to position in the center):

Professional :: Rotating Slideshow That Can Be Updated Regularly?

Jan 19, 2011

I'm looking for a program that makes Flash slideshows without needing Flash experience, a nice drag-drop-like interface. The reason is I am making a website, where the top banner will be a rotating slideshow that the client will need to be able to update regularly. I've tried a variety of programs but run into the same issue: I need each slide in the show to have the photo on one side, with text on the other (much like the slideshow on [URL] page). But in most programs, the photo always takes up the entire slide and text can only go over the photo with very few formatting options.

Media Server :: FMS Remote SharedObject Not Always Updated?

Apr 8, 2011

I'm somewhat new to FMS. We're creating a chat application and using s remote SharedObject to keep everyone in sync about who is in the room. But despite the fact that I use the following:

_sharedObject.setProperty("groupList", groupList);_sharedObject.setDirty("groupList"); to force the shared object to update the list of who's in the room, for some reason it does not always update correctly when someone enters the room and adds themselves to the shared object. The problem seems to be that the SyncEvent.SYNC event does not always get sent all the time.

More troubling it that if the user closes the browser window or navigates to another page, NetStatusEvent NetGroup.Neighbor.Disconnect and NetGroup.MulticastStream.UnpublishNotify are not reliable to use to remove user's from the list. My assumption is that remote shared objects are just not that reliable in some cases. Should I use server side scripts to keep track of users and what groups they are in?
