ActionScript 3.0 :: Way To Prevent Resizing Child

I have square which has child - the textField. I want to prevent text resize while I'm resizing parent. I tried removing child before resize and adding it after but it doesn't help. Also when i try to add completely new textField it seams to be already resized. Btw text is embedded.

I have finished my flash game, but when I used web Browser such as Chrome or FireFox to run it, it enlarged my game to full size of the browser. Is there anyway( in AS3 script) that I could prevent this from happening as well as hide the symbols that their sizes are bigger than my default size defined at the document property panel?

How do you prevent all of your text automatically changing the font size when a browser is made full screen? I have a number of fixed field sizes I want my text to stay within but when the browser is expanded to full screen it changes the fonts so the text no longer fits in the text boxes and it forces scrolling.

My class is extending Sprite and inside i have overwritten width, height, scaleX and scaleY setters and forbidden scaling if scalable property is set to false. When i test this (put it on the stage and try scaling using these methods) it works fine. However if I add it as a child of some other DisplayObjectContainer and scale it my object is scaled too. Are there other public scaling methods that I could overwrite and that I am unaware of? If not, how could I achieve this effect without overwriting it's parent container's scaling methods?

I have a movieclip with a child button in it.The movieclip can be dragged and dropped. I want to disable dragging and dropping of the movieclip when I press/drag on the child button. mouseChildren=false and mouseEnable=false don't work, since I want to keep my mouse events for the button.[code]

I would like to know the way to prevent a child swf from referencing its parent swf stage width/height?
for example, i created a child swf that loads image and center it on it's stage. As a stand alone its fine but i loaded it with parent swf, it centers on the parent swf instead.

I am transitioning into AS3 and I'm working a block that I can't quite figure out. I need to add a child (external image) to a movie clip and resize it. This is what I have thus far and it loads the image just fine:

When I set the visible property to false for a child in a container, how can I get the container to resize? In the example bellow, when clicking on "Toggle", "containerB" is hidden, but the main container's scrollable area is not resized. (I do not want to scroll through a lot of empty space.)

im loading photos of different aspect ratios with a loader onto a child holder frame_mc. I wanted to know what AS3 commands do i need to work on to get the frame_mc to resize to the new childs dimensions and centerize itself on the main stage? (as in event listeners, functions, vars etc)

I am not simply trying to contain things and have the container resize without the contents resizing. I would just use a simple MovieClip for that.. My main focus is on the use of BitmapFill. I'm trying to make a repeating background image for a container; thus far I'm able to draw my BitmapFill sprite to the size I want. (Which is the stage's height) but when the stage is resized, I want to re-size my container but have my containers BitmapFill crop or add more as the window is resized bigger or smaller. Allow me to illustrate what I mean:
I've got a simple rectangle sprite that fills with a bitmap from the library and a simple resize handler function that detects when the window has been resized.what I would like to do is have my rectangle resize to the height of the stage.stageHeight maintaining its bitmap fill, but not resizing the bitmap fill or any children within the sprite.
From what I've read, this is a little tricky because the sprite resizes in relation to what it contains.. or.. something like that.. I really don't know any more.. I saw one example where a person extended the sprite class but I don't know why or how..
in my library there is an image called 'pattern' and my code looks like this:

I'm loading a few pngs/jpgs externally so they can be swapped out occasionally, and the issue I'm running into is when they are shrunk they become fairly choppy. Is there a way to have flash re-render them, or do something to smooth the resizing as opposed to going in and resizing every file manually myself?

I've got a little problem with BitmapFill, I'm trying to use a sprite as a container for various things and i would like it to have a filled pattern background. my problem is that i want it to resize the sprite to the height of the window but not have the background fill resize, and add more / crop as the window size is changed. to illustrate what i mean, please view the diagram attached to this post .

i am trying to use the Tween class to change the size of movie clip to certain height.the code works for me but when resizing the parent, it effects the child.i tried the height and scaleY property for the thum, but does not work.

I have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. then have a button in the child swf itself that removes the child from over the background so the user can click on another item etc.I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple swf files...it currently works for a single swf.I wan to pass the name of the button in front of the .swf in the URLRequest to have the same name as the instance name of the referring button. i have problem with swfLoader in flex, when i close following code in click method i can easly add many swf to main application

I've used this site as a resource leading up to this, not particularly sure if I worded this correctly I have a class "Block" which is just a square (will be something else later on in the process) I want each block to have controls to add an additional block in either direction so I have another class BlockButtons which has my buttons for each direction.

I have a component mxml file in which i have a view stack, on click of a button i navigate to the first child, now i need to navigate to the second child during onclick of a button present in the second child. All the childs are component files included within the view stack. How could this be done, Sample code is present below,

I have an Movie Clip in Flash that have subobject of button type which has subobject of input text and movie clips. Right after creation core Moveclip all subobject are set to null, when I expect them to be valid objects.

MC_Core_design was created in Flash and exported to Actionscript. I've done this for button_1 class aswell. The code was written using Flex. When I comment out both lines that result in error I get correct view of the core Movie clip with all subobject. How can I set subobject properties right after object creation?

a quick low down would be its a gallery on the second frame and I breaks when coming back tot he first frame, all tweens die and such.

I have an issue where removechild won't infact remove a child. I think its something to do with my dropTarget.parent issues. The concept of the code is that you drag a source onto a destination. When you drop the source onto the destination you will get a text field that says "Hello" or "Goodbye". The objective i want to achive is that once i drop a source onto the destination, removechild will remove any previouse textfields added. This is proving difficult.
