ActionScript 3.0 :: Why Are Enter / Escape And Delete Key Disabled

Now that I have the focus on my DataGrid and I can select a row using the up and down keyboard arrows, I then would like to confirm my row selection by hitting the enter key.But, my keydown listener on the DataGrid doesn't see the enter, escape and delete keys. Most of the other keys are seen. I can browse the list by using the up and down keys (and I can see my function in the keydown listener are called).It only happens when I check my application from the Flash IDE. In debug mode, these keys are taken into account.My DataGrid is not editable but selectable.
we have a C++ application that hosts a flex application in a MFC dialog. Everything works fine, all button pushes etc are passed directly on to flex with no problem at all, except the enter and escape keys, which immediately closes the dialog. We can trap the enter key, by implementing PreTranslateMessage() or OnOK() and impede the window closing behavior, but we still have the problem of passing these enter key pushes on to the hosted flex app further. There is no "default" button on the form or anything like that, perhaps MFC is linking the enter key to the close button in the title bar behind the scenes or something. Does anyone have any ideas how we can stop MFC from treating the enter key from being a special case.[code]
I've made an AS3 AIR proggie that works with PHP to look at a specific online directory of mp3s, get it's listing, and download to my local machine. It works fine, except when a song name has '&' in it. I'm not sure how to escape ampersands, or where the escape needs to happen - PHP or AS3? Here's the relevant AS3:
I'm making a VERY basic Jeopardy game, and I need buttons to be disabled after being clicked on once.
Oh, and I'm working in CS3, but I'm using AS 1&2 because that's what I learned... I have no idea how to use AS 3...
example: frame 1 has btn11 in it. btn11 when clicked takes the person to frame 2. when done with frame 2, they click on return.
the return button (btnReturn1) has the following AS

the problem is that it works at first - the button disables when I get back to frame 1, but the next time I click a different button then return to frame 1, the first button I disabled isn't disabled anymore.
my actionscript so that my disabled buttons stay that way no matter how many times I come and go from the frame? or if you have a better way to do it, that'd be great. basically, it's like the jeopardy screen, and after "songs" for 200 is clicked, I don't want it to be clickable again at all.
When my focus is inside the input text field, pressing CTRL+ENTER works but ENTER does not.Pressing Enter when my focus is anywhere BUT the input text field works just fine..My intention is to detect if ENTER key was pressed after the user fills out the field, but it seems to only work for CTRL+ENTER
I got these four errors when I tried to create a button on the stage that would delete the text I inputted in the inputtext(ti). Based on the scripts I have and the errors, what should I write to create the delete button?
I am implementing a flex auto-suggest combobox - as the user types in each character: Consider the string 'Stackoverflow' and user input = 'st'
1) the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 'st' 2) text is set to auto-suggest string such that the un-typed part is highlighted.
So for instance, the combobox text may contain st'ackoverflow', where 'ackoverflow' is highlighted using setSelectedIndex()When I hit back-space or delete, and check the 'this.text' value, I expect that the last un-highlighted character ('t' in the above case) gets deleted and the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 's'. However the text property contains 'st', as before
I'm creating a Flash instant messaging application (through XMPP protocol) and run into a problem. It isn't that important but I was quite upset that I wasn't able to solve it and I want to know if their is a solution =D
I have a TextArea chat input and a button to send the text, the TextArea is multiline and so captures the Enter key to jump one line... What I need is to send the message with the Enter key and jump with a Ctrl+Enter combination... My ideas were to disable the bubbling of the Enter key, trap it, and then manually assign the Ctrl+Enter combination to jumping the line in TextArea but couldn't find how to do all this...
I am looking for a way to escape utf-8 charachters using actionscript 2? As far as I know, in flash it uses utf-16 while on javascript it uses utf-8. I am looking for a similar escaping method.
i have a btn which has rollover text Full Screen Onon clicking the btn it goes fullscreen and text appears Full Screen Offwhen pressing escape key it goes to normal but the text doesnt change from Full Screen Off to Full Screen On
I used the fscommand("fullscreen",true) in my application to make it fullscreen. However when the user presses the Escape key, the window goes into the normal view. Is there any way of disabling the Escape key to make my movie in fullscreen all the time? and the only way to quit the movie is my clicking the label I created 'Exit' with the AS command fscommand("quit");

what i am trying to do is add in a key event listener for the escape key, so that if the user hits esc instead of the button, it will also reset the button's 'normal view' settings
i have tried to do a test in a separate fla but even with just a trace on the function, when i hit esc all the swf does is stop (odd!)

I am continuing my long switch from AS2 to AS3 finally... and I thought I'd start by making something simple. An "Escape The Room" type game, should be easy right? Just pointing and clicking? I'm developing a site which brings the text data from external .txt files, the problem is it doesn't recognize the escape caracters for the return " ". the flash uses System.useCodePage = true; because in this way it can recognize special characters like � or � and so on.
I am creating a software product demonstrator. The software uses the Escape key to let users get out of menus - crap I know, but that's the way they do it! My problem is that I want Flash MX to look out for the Escape key being hit within my demonstrator and then go to another frame when it is hit.

Right now. My Processor is trembling as hell because of my Flash looping infinitely and I haven't saved my file. How do I escape from it? Is there a default loop count in Flash CS5? I do hope so there is.
i wrote a script for button wen clicked activate full-screen and play 231 frame, next deactivate full-screen and play frame 1.
now in full screen mode if escape key pressed it will exit but not playing frame 1 continuing from 231 frame, after escape pressed click also changing for first click it playing 1 frame instead of playing 231
