In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:

Loading External JPEG Files And Keep Them Loaded
May 19, 2009I have a flash file that loads jpeg files and runs through each on the timeline. I have nav buttons to go back and forth. Here is the problem, all images load on frame 5 and I do this while another image is displayed so that they are loading in the background. I do this so that my initial file size is small, but I can load images in the background making the flash file appear to load quickly and loading other elements after it starts.
So all images load on frame 5, then I go frame by frame until I hit frame 11. If I click one of my nav buttons to go back to say, frame 7, the jpeg is gone and is no longer loaded. How to load jpeg files into the library, or at least, keep them loaded after they have loaded once? I have attached my fla file for reference. I had to rename the extension to eps, but it's a fla file, just rename the extension.

Aug 8, 2011What is the best approach to add and remove sections if I'm using this method for example.

Do I add this to button click events? for every section? and a remove method for the other sections that are not in use? or is there a better way to setup this more reusable and checking correctly if a swf is loaded or not?

Jun 7, 2009I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.

Jan 19, 2009I'm trying to use a loadMovie function inside a loop to load external PNG files when my game is loaded. Unfortunately, I can't get even a single loadMovie to work correctly, much less execute a bunch of them.The code is on the root time line, and is targetting an empty movie clip that is nested inside about 3 levels. There is a button, with a movie clip on it, and the empty clip I'm trying to load into on that.so the full target path is myBox_00.smallBox.myLogo(myBox_00 is the button, smallBox is the movie clip, and myLogo is the empty)[code].I even tried using a JPG image instead of a PNG and still no luck. The best I could do was number 4; and that didn't work, all it did was SOMETHING instead of NOTHING... unfortunately that something was to make the button (myBox_00) disappear entirely T_T.I've never had much luck with loading external images. What am I missing here?

Mar 26, 2010I'm trying to dynamically load different MovieClips based on user input. Several of those clips have embedded url link symbols. How can I add event listeners to the url links if the dynamically loaded MovieClip does not have an instance name? Seems like I can (right?) apply an instance name when the clip is loading, but the event listener doesn't compile because the name is not there yet, so that seems out.

Jun 9, 2011i made a SWF which contains a loader which loads any SWF file passed to it... the problem I'm encountering is that for some SWFs, some event listeners doesn't fire anymore... my own SWF file (which contains the loader) doesn't really have any other element except for the Loader object and so I cannot understand what seems to be preventing the loaded SWF (loaded by my Loader) from receiving some mouse events
it seems that the for the SWF where I'm having this problem, the listener seems to be tied up to a location in the stage or somewhere else, and so whenever I resize, the listeners is not responding on the right place, for example, the button appears on a certain position but the listener's hit test or whatever the SWF is using to detect the mouse click is positioned somewhere else
ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding And Removing Event Listeners On Dynamically Loaded MovieClips?
Jan 21, 2009I've created a drop down list and populated it with dynamic buttons. (I made a DropDown_btn class with a dynamic text field in it and then filled the button text from an xml file). On rollover I tint the button blue and then set the tint back to black on rollout. When you click on the button I'd like it to stay blue until a different button is clicked.
I thought on CLICK I'd run a function like this:

I also gave them each a property of "buttonValue" when I loaded them so I can access event.currentTarget.buttonValue (which in this case is a number from 1-5) but once again I can't figure out how I might leverage this information.

Jul 18, 2006I was messing around with some old examples, and I ran into an unfinished example where several 30k-100k XML files are loaded and stored as a string into an Array. The code looks basically like:[code]Basically, when I trace the 'this', the order of the files that are loaded is off. Out of about 10 tries, about 3 times the order is perfect. The remaining 7 times, the order is a bit off. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to ensure the files are loaded prior to the next file being loaded? I tried placing a while loop that basically delays the clock for a few milliseconds, and that didn't work either. Besides, that is not really a good solution to arbitrarily waste clock cycles.

Jul 29, 2010I am having a problem with putting text from an external xml file into multiple textfields through out the movie. I believe the problem stems from the fact that not all the text fields are loaded. The movie stops intermittently and I want certain xml child to be shown, then later in the movie a different child. I keep on getting the Error #1009 and I am wondering what event listener I should use to solve this. I can trace out the data from the xml but when I put them into textfields not currently on the stage at that particular frame, I get the erro

Nov 6, 2010I found this code for a contact form at msinghinteractive easy-to-use-flash-as3-contact-us-form-class and it dynamically creates input fields and buttons. I didnt like the dynamically drawn submit and reset buttons, so I added my own MCs(my 'buttons') to the stage. I tried modifying the code and took out the dynamically drawn buttons..However, I cant figure out how to add Event Listeners to the buttons which exist on the stage--Im getting undefined errors...The fla is directly associated to a main.as class which just determines the parameters of the .as class it is tied to -to set the size of the Contact form.This is the entire class:

where btn is the instance name of my submit button MC.My problem is that because my buttons exist on the stage I dont know how to add Event listeners within that class---or rather doing that doesnt work because the listeners are throwing that undefined property errors--I gave them instance names...

Jul 19, 2011I'm working on making a pretty chunky game engine for games I plan on making, but I was wondering if you make external AS files unopenable such as .lib files, so that if I give it to a friend that wants to use it, he/she cannot change my code. Is there anyway to make external AS files unopenable? Also, obfuscation isn't an option for this problem as it only stops the people who hack the finished product, not stopping people who have access to the actual files.

Its a slideshow so i want all the files loaded and then it will play. I've looked at bulk-loader but it wasn't what I needed. The image are loaded from an xml file. I think I would need to create an Array and then find out the total bytes but I don't know how to reference the loader in the progress.

ActionScript 2.0 :: External Text Files Wont Load Into External Swf File?
May 28, 2007Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? It runs fine on its own, just not as an external SWF.

When testing subgallery.swf alone, it loads jpeg files.Is there any limitation or setting preventing external swfs loading other content?

May 3, 2009I've got an external .as file in the same folder as my flash file. In the process of writing the code, whenever I make a change and then test the movie, the flash movie is obviously still looking at the OLD information. I tried using the "Delete ASO Files" on the menu, to no avail.I can' find these ASO files anywhere on mycomputer.Aha! I tried something else. I quit flash,restarted and ran the same script with no changes. It returned the data correctly, but then gave me this unpleasant message:256 levels of recursion were exceeded in one action list.This is probably an infinite loop.Further execution of actions has been disabled in this movie.There are no loops of any kind in the code, which is below.

Aug 15, 2011[URL]I have: main.swf (a menu) and I have module.swf (content)If you navigate to Subsea Wellhead Systems/SS-15 BigBore II and click on that I have it load an external swf which covers most of the parent. So far so good. My problem is unloading the loaded 'Child' swf with the button provided on the loaded 'Child' swf.below is the code I used to load the file but I cant, for the life of me, find a way to unload it.

Nov 8, 2011I have a homepage with five "links" to each swf. Now the first swf I have a custom cursor that hides the mouse. When I click on that link it plays and when I quickly go to the homepage again it hides the mouse there when it's not supposed to do it.
Same with every other link. When I was busy with the first swf and want to go to the last swf of the five, my mouse just disappears! It is almost as if it keeps on "playing" without seeing the swf...

Aug 31, 2009I've been following the techlabs tutorial on building an as3 slideshow as I'm just getting used to as3.I've been trying to load in .swf files instead of static jpegs, but it won't work.I'm assuming this part of the code is what won't allow the .swf files to be loaded from the xml file...end a hand and explain what this section is doing and if possible what to change to get it to load swf's as well as jpegs...?
