ActionScript 3.0 :: Preload Multiple - Load And Display The Percentage Loaded Of Total Bytes And Bytes Loaded Of All The Files
Jul 13, 2009
What I'm trying to do is get the total bytes of all the files I want to load and display the percentage loaded of total bytes and bytes loaded of all the files. Its a slideshow so i want all the files loaded and then it will play. I've looked at bulk-loader but it wasn't what I needed. The image are loaded from an xml file. I think I would need to create an Array and then find out the total bytes but I don't know how to reference the loader in the progress.

I'm trying to create a script that will check different supplied filename paths, insert them into a movieclip, and retrieve the total bytes of the clip so I can determine whether or not the filename is valid. I'm having trouble with the bolded code below. Basically its checking to see if the loaded clip's bytes are more than 0. If its 0 then I know the path was wrong.I've tried using .onData and .onLoad as event handlers, and getBytesTotal and getBytesLoaded as my conditions for my following if statement. When I trace the result I get 0 even if the movie was successfully found and loaded... anyone know whats wrong?!?!
Code:
if (presType == "web") {
videoName1 = videoName + "_300k.swf";

Okay, my preloader has some code in it to display the percentage of a 6 MB movie and I want to display the proper file size such as 6.53MB instead of 6987362892 Bytes. Here is what i have so far and it's not working. [AS]percent.text = Math.round((getBytesLoaded()/getBytesTotal()) * 100) + '% of ' + Math.round(getBytesTotal())/1024 + 'kb';[/AS] The red code is where I'm having my problems.

so i have created a preloader to load pictures... and i created a button to stop the preloader if the user changed his mind and wanted to change the picturethe problem is that each time i click a picture and cancel it, the bytes remain in memory, so if I click on another picture very fast both the first picture's bytes and second picture's bytes get accumulated and load together, which means much much slower loadingso how can i delete the bytes loaded of the image if i click the cancel button?
ActionScript Code:
function onclsLdrclick(e:MouseEvent):void {
l.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onImgComp);

URL...Basically, you press button to enter and the tape measure will roll in time with the amount of data/frames loaded. So if 50% of data/frames loaded, the animation would be halfway completed. Upon completion, it zooms in on tape measure and I have animations from there to get to the main site.This was successfully done in Actionscript 2.0, but I need it to work in Actionscript 3.0.

I have found out that I can not use loaderInfo.getBytesLoaded in as3. I have a gallery located here: [URL]the functionality is almost complete, but my gallery still has issues loading all the thumbnails. It seems that sometimes they wont load while sometimes they do. I have split my thumbnail process into:
LoadThumbs: Loads the thumbs
Callthumbs:Arranges the thumbs
Each function is called once per thumbnail. My problem is that I can not find the bytes loaded information for the thumbnail as it loads. Event completion and preloaders dont seem to help. I doubt it's my alpha tween because the thumbs are un click-able when they are not there. This is the info for my function, with the comments indicating the parts that bring up errors.
Code:
function loadThumbs()
{
x_counter = 0;
y_counter = 0;
[code]...
How do I get the loaded info of each thumb as it loads? Do i need to make a new class file?

I'm over here putting together a tweened preloader that runs in time with bytes loaded. I'm just wondering how I could make the preloader movieclip fade out when the tween is finished and then advance the playhead when the alpha reaches 0. I can post an fla if that'll help anyone understand better.Heres the code on the preloader movieclip:

I can get which part of file in bytes is loaded using videoDisplay component for RTMP protocol for VOD, I can get the current playing position using videoDisplay.playheadTime. But I want to know how many seconds of video are already loaded (not the length of bufferTime, which remains constant). i used videoDisplay.bytesLoaded when using RTMP it returns nothing ,if we uses HTTP it displays number of bytes loaded
The loaded size in bytes is not directly proportional to running time of the video, and while using rtmp im unable to get bytesLoaded too, how i can calculated the Video already loaded.

I have 4 flv playback instances on a stage.
1. when i load 4 videos and ensure they are fully buffered from video progress event and bytesloaded==bytestotal . and then play them. I get sync issues for every other second.
2. when i download the vidoes and place them in my project folder and then load them ( no loading time) there are no sync issues. I cant understand why 1 is different from 2 as we are completely loading the videos in cache.

I am trying to preload an mp3 file dynamically while showing the typical 'percentage loaded' in a dynamic text box. However for some reason, the percentage just doesn't count up - it freezes on 100% even though the mp3 file is still loading. I have included the code that I'm using below. Also, does anyone know what would be the best way to adjust this code so that I could preload multiple mp3 files at the same time or one after another?

How to load multiple XML files and know when all loaded
I load several XML files at the start of my AS code. Using addEventlistener/Event.Complete for each URLloader I call upon functions to get data from the respective XML files.
Like this:
// Loads themes from XML file themes.xml
themeLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, getThemes);
themeLoader.load(new URLRequest("themes.xml"));
[Code]....
In those functions I call other functions to start my application.
The problem is that if some XML file (like cats.xml above) has not been loaded before I call MainShow(), I get errors since MainShow() also uses data from the cats.xml. Thus I would need to somehow wait for all my XML files to be loaded before I start up my application.
How can I do this in a convenient way?

I am loading multiple images into a class instance and I would like to keep track of how large the complete amount of loaded data is at any given point.I have grabbed the totalbytes from my directory of images via a PHP script... but collecting the new bytes from the ProgressEvent on each image seems tricky for some reason.Let's assume that the totalBytes variable is correct and that I am totally unfamiliar with the way that ProgressEvent works.Does an event get fired every time ProgressEvent gets a new byte? If not, how do I keep track of the current total bytes?[code]

I have an ActionScript 3 project in which I'm using a Loader to load external SWFs. In Chrome, the Flash Player will not fire Event.COMPLETE if the size of the SWF is greater than 32768 bytes! I tried to use ProgressEvent.PROGRESS and execute the logic when event.bytesLoaded == event.bytesTotal. This works, it does get there, but then loader.contentLoaderInfo.applicationDomain.getDefinition()
Can't find the class inside the SWF.

I have a legacy file format that contains sounds embedded in it (in various encodings). I would like to be able to play these sounds in Flash (Air?) by reading the sound bytes out of the file and instantiating a Sound object with them.
If the sound is unencoded (e.g., raw pcm), I've found that I can use the new flex 4 SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA event to play the sound.
However, if the sound is encoded (e.g., mp3), then I'm at a loss. The sound expected by SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA has to be raw pcm. From what I've seen, encoded Sounds can only be instantiated by [Embed]ing them, or by using a URLRequest with Sound.load().

I'm trying to set up a preload system that can load multiple XML files and manage an overall progress bar but got immediately screwed by ProgressEvents not bubbling. My basic code set up is: Document Class
XMLManager extends EventDispatcher
XMLloader extends EventDispatcher
So document class up an array of xml paths and passes that to the XMLManager, that then iterates through the array and creates a new XMLloader for each path and stores those XMLloaders in another array. The XMLloader goes off and creates an URLLoader that loads the XML. It has listeners for Event.Complete, IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR and ProgressEvent.PROGRESS which is fine.
I'm getting the correct progress data in my progress handler but what I want to do is broadcast that progress data straight back up to the Document Class which I had thought would be where dispatchEvent would come in by doing something like this in the XMLloader class:

I have created a galley with dynamically loaded multiple swf files. Half of them contain animations running at 60fps. The other half are flash movies at 30fps. If I select the speed of my gallery file to be 30fps animations play slow. If speed of gallery file is 60fps flash movies play too fast. How can I override the speed of the individual .swf's so they all play evenly.
some AS3 script for each individual movie? i.e. animation speed (individual file) speed: 1/2?..
