ActionScript 2.0 :: Putting Together A Tweened Preloader That Runs In Time With Bytes Loaded?

Nov 4, 2004

I'm over here putting together a tweened preloader that runs in time with bytes loaded. I'm just wondering how I could make the preloader movieclip fade out when the tween is finished and then advance the playhead when the alpha reaches 0. I can post an fla if that'll help anyone understand better.Heres the code on the preloader movieclip:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preload Multiple - Load And Display The Percentage Loaded Of Total Bytes And Bytes Loaded Of All The Files

Jul 13, 2009

What I'm trying to do is get the total bytes of all the files I want to load and display the percentage loaded of total bytes and bytes loaded of all the files. Its a slideshow so i want all the files loaded and then it will play. I've looked at bulk-loader but it wasn't what I needed. The image are loaded from an xml file. I think I would need to create an Array and then find out the total bytes but I don't know how to reference the loader in the progress.

IDE :: Advance Aimation In Time With Bytes Loaded?

Sep 9, 2009

URL...Basically, you press button to enter and the tape measure will roll in time with the amount of data/frames loaded. So if 50% of data/frames loaded, the animation would be halfway completed. Upon completion, it zooms in on tape measure and I have animations from there to get to the main site.This was successfully done in Actionscript 2.0, but I need it to work in Actionscript 3.0.

Java :: Putting Short Into 2 Bytes Of String

Oct 28, 2011

So I'm making my own networking protocol for a online game, to save space each message (sent over TCP) is given a ID which is a short, 2 bytes, all messages sent from the server to the client and vice versa are strings, how can I convert a short to a string in java in just 2 bytes (characters)? I want to be able to convert a short int into 2 characters, so that I can send the short over the network in a string format in just 2 bytes and decode it back into a short on the other side (in actionscript 3). A character can hold 256 possible values right? So 256*256=65,536 which is the size of a unsigned short int!

Here's what I've got so far:
public static String toCode(int c){
if(c <= 255 ){
return Character.toString((char)c);
}else{
return null;
}}
public static int fromCode(String c){
return ((int)c.charAt(0));//Return the character code of the send string, 1 char only
}

This can turn a int into a single character which can be sent over the network, now I just need to have it use 2 characters and it can do up to a short.

Movie Clip Within Main Timeline Runs Slow/choppy First Time Around, But Not Second Time?

Dec 11, 2009

I have a fairly complex animation movie clip within my main timeline in a Flash file.  When you click a button, it plays the movie clip, then goes back out to the main timeline.  The first time the movie clip runs, it plays choppy and slow, but if I play it two or more times, it plays correctly (smoothly).  Is there some actionscript I need to preload the movie clip, or some other solution to the first-run slowness?

ActionScript Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {

which goes to the 2nd frame once loaded marvelously... but it just stays at 1% the whole time until loaded... i keep tweaking it but no improvement.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tweened Text Has A Hard Time Being Clicked On?

Sep 7, 2010

I have some text that is scrolling across the page like a news ticker you would see at the bottom of your TV screen on a news channel.This scrolling text has anchor tags on it (clickable links). It is a dynamic text box inside a movieclip. Problem is, I'm using the build in AS3 Tweener to animate the text across the page and 99% of the time I cannot click the links. The mouse cursor turns to a hand when I hover over the scrolling text but clicking does nothing. If I click really fast and randomly it just might work but it hardly ever does.Do I need to apply a 'display: block' type style to it?Should I use a different tweener?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preloader Works Only Towards The Last Bytes Downloaded?

Apr 24, 2011

But ive noticed an anomaly. When i test the movie (with simulate download settings ofcourse so that you can actually see the preloader work) the preloader shows only from 90% onwards to 100% and then the page loads up. Which means when i run the movie, the result is a blank frame for quite sometime, when actually the preloader should be showing but it doesnt, instead its just the project default window color, then it starts the preloader at the frag end of the bytes coming in, so it only shows 95%-100% and then the page loads.

The same preloader method (2 looping frames with its AS2) works perfectly in front of the keyframe that contains another webpage, Home.swf which is a seperate file and things work perfectly there.o i put a trace into the 2 looping frames to see whats going on with the acquired bytes variable. I was shocked to see that the preloader loop isnt even running. It running itself only at 94% onwards and then ofcourse reports the percentage on the screen correctly. But till 94% its not able to sense the bytes getting loaded. It senses only after 94% and then starts reporting it.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Slow Framerate In Preview / Runs Fine In Browser Or Through Preloader

Oct 21, 2011

When I preview my SWF from within Flash or run the exported swf outside of Flash, it has suddenly become extremely slow, maybe 10 FPS or something. But then it runs smoothly if I

- run it in a browser embedded in a HTML page
- run a preloader locally which simply loads the problematic SWF file; once the problematic SWF file shows up, it runs perfectly.

This doesn't make sense to me, and it's really annoying to be unable to just Shift+Enter to preview. Anyone tried anything like this before?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Thumbnail Loader Based On Bytes Loaded?

Jul 23, 2010

I have found out that I can not use loaderInfo.getBytesLoaded in as3. I have a gallery located here: [URL]the functionality is almost complete, but my gallery still has issues loading all the thumbnails. It seems that sometimes they wont load while sometimes they do. I have split my thumbnail process into:

LoadThumbs: Loads the thumbs
Callthumbs:Arranges the thumbs

Each function is called once per thumbnail. My problem is that I can not find the bytes loaded information for the thumbnail as it loads. Event completion and preloaders dont seem to help. I doubt it's my alpha tween because the thumbs are un click-able when they are not there. This is the info for my function, with the comments indicating the parts that bring up errors.

Code:

function loadThumbs()
{
x_counter = 0;
y_counter = 0;

[code]...

How do I get the loaded info of each thumb as it loads? Do i need to make a new class file?

Professional :: Loaded SWF Runs Code On Parent Timeline?

Nov 30, 2010

I have a parent movie that contains several buttons that load several child SWF files.The parent timeline has only 1 frame, and in that frame all the ActionScript (version 3) for the parent movie is imported with a single statement:

include "script.as";

The problem is that when a child movie loads, IF the child contains ANY ActionScript calls, it also somehow runs the code in "script.as", which accesses many elements of the parent movie which are not present in the child. This produces "NULL object reference" errors which crash the script:

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.If I remove all ActionScript calls from the child's timeline, then the child doesn't run the parent's code - But if place so much as a stop(); call in the child timeline, then the child runs the parent's code after being loaded in.

I originally wrote this script for another project, which works fine, and then copied and pasted it to this one, so I don't understand why it's not working the same way. Earlier on I suspected the trouble might be from re-saving my current project as ActionScript 3, when before this upgrade was saved as ActionScript 2. So I went back and re-created each file in fresh AS3 FLAs, but it didn't solve the problem.The child SWFs are loaded with this code from "script.as".

var ldr:Loader = new Loader();    addChild(ldr);    var url:String = "child.swf";    var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);    ldr.load(urlReq);

Also in "script.as" is a simple trace call at the top of the file:

trace('script.as is running');

When de-bugging the file, the message 'script.as is running' appears in the output panel when each child SWF is loaded, which tells me that the child files are running the parent's code. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
