ActionScript 3.0 :: Assign Multiple Boolean Vars?

is it correct to assign multiple Boolean vars like so:

Should I do it like this:
if (DeviceDisplay.IsSpeedAvailable == false){
DeviceDisplay.IsSpeedAvailable = true;
}
or
DeviceDisplay.IsSpeedAvailable = true;
I thought I saw that flex/as3 does an internal check on booleans before they are assigned to make sure you are re-assigning stuff but I can't find it to confirm.

View 1 RepliesI want to check if my character is hitting any of the items in an array (true) and if he isn't (false). right now the boolean is in a for loop so it returns one "true" and multiple "false" statements each time the program updates. I just want one return, true if the character is hitting a movie clip in the array, and false if he isn't.

I have a symbol on my stage(call it A), in A there are 2 other symbols (B&C).These symbols are tweened and are moving across A(both not starting at frame one but later on).In B and C are textboxes and both have an actionscript at frame 1.In this script is a certain calculation.For this calculation is a random generated numer necessary, however in both symbols these need to be equal. So somewhere in my little program needs to be a link between symbol B and C (or B and C using a variable from A or the stage).Because of the tween, things like A.B.myTextbox_txt.text is not possible (or other combinations).

For testing purposes var0 should equal three names in my array. Flash is only reading 1. How do I set flash up to read that whole array(3 variables in one textbox)? I know Flash won't output var1 or var2 because I don't have those textfields with those variable names.

Writing a couple of vars to a txt file is relatively easy.I store them as .sql (sort of) layout, so that i can import them into mysql later.But obvious this is not necessary..
The thing i am struggling is how do i read these vars back into flash[code]...

I need to pass multiple flash vars into my swf -- I see multiple places in the adobe-generated HTML in which to put the flash vars. While I can do this successfuly for one flash var, I can't for more than one (I'm using something like this at the moment, which works, but cannot be extended URL

I just want to know if there is a way to assign multiple variables, and if there is a way to check multiple variables.
I want to be able to assign variables to false and then check if all the variables are false.
Is it possible, in flex, to assign multiple states as base for another state? Say I have state "stateA" that adds a button "buttonA" and state "stateB" that adds a button "buttonB". Is it possible to create a state "stateC" that is based on state "stateA" and "stateB"? If not, is there a workaround to accomplish that? Also notice that the button IDs should be "buttonA" and "buttonB" and I can't have several buttons in different states with the same ID ... Here is an example of what I want:

2 objects come onto the stage from the right. The user is directed to choose the bigger objects. If he selects the correct one it lights up green and then slides off. If he selects the wrong one it lights up red on and off and then the user selects the correct one, which lights up green and they slide off as the next objects slide on.I created all of the objects in 3Ds Max and I figured I would load them via XML and assign a true and false the the respective one. But should I go about it this way? And if so, I have the concept of what to do as I mentioned above but I am not sure where to begin to execute it... Also, for more info, I am doing this all with programming and not putting actual objects in flash because this is a part of a much bigger structure.So, my question is: Should I go about it as I mentioned above and if so do you know how - you could even tell me what to google to find the info I need in order to do it.

My problem is how to call a specific tween to stop it, for example: onrollover stop the tween assigned to "barra3" mc for example. I can't use bot_alpha.stop() it doesn't work. I think it's because i have multiple "bot_alpha" tweens, i need something to dynamic create bot_alpha1; bot_alpha2; ... ...
I have been reading these forums for like 2 months, thus i never felt like being able to post something as a valuable answer to someone's problem, since i've been AS3ing for like 3 months now. I have a small problem here on a game that i am trying to create. I am trying to make a shooter game . Like the ones u kill enemies and then the the level advances ( imagine the pseydomovement depth feel of the background giving the player the taste of further movement of the field , yes like old airplane games ). Ok to the point.
1) created a main .as where all the code is running. The movement of the player is written there also. no problem with that. 2) created a bullet class where i assign the bullet speed and i check for the collisions with enemies. the problem occurs somewhere here i have created a statement where every some time ( like 0,5 secs ) an enemy appears and takes a random road till the stageHeight . here is the code .

So when all 5 mikros are out i start firing them . BUT only the last child of mikros seems to follow the hittestobject procedure of my code. Which means that if all of the 5 mikros are on stage the one with the smallest .y value will disappear when hit by "sfera". I know it is huge but this pains my head for like 1 week and i cannot think anything . Tried some staff. but i do not know if this is proper thinking or if my programming is proper for this and i must redo all.
i am trying to load vars from a text file into a load vars object.

but i am having trouble doing this.

Is there a better way to do use a use a boolean with visible? I'm setting up animations that have conditions for visibility, and I don't want to use something that performs poorly. This animation blinks 30 times and stops. It works without error, but takes a moment to load. I would like to learn other ways of using visibility with conditionals.
This is what I used 'waits before playing'

Been trying to get a flash map to zoom in and out but I can't seem to get it working, it'll zoom in fine, but not zoom out.I'm zooming into a particular area of a map (Uganda in this example) with a function for a button, I'm using a boolean value to check if I am zoomed in and it registers whether it's true or false (checking with a dynamic textbox). View 1 Replieshaving an issue with a variable set. It is set as a string to default "no" on the very first frame of my movie, as follows:

Within my movie, there is an object. When this object is pressed, it is to change the _root.myaccess="yes"; I am tracing the variable within the movie clip and it shows me: I do not understand why it is changing my string definitition from "no" to false. Because of this, my variable does not seem to change to "yes' on object (button) pressed.
I know this doesn't work, but basically, I'm looking at something like this:

because I know I can abbreviate stuff like

I'm using the following code in the ZoneFill and ZoneEmpty to assign it a value of true or false, e.g;

View 6 RepliesCurrently I have a rotating globe with 2 buttons. when i click on "right" button, it will go to next frame. when i click on "left button", it will go to prev frame. I have no problem making it rotating fully.
But now I'm trying to make the globe rotate itself when I mouse over the button. And globe will stop when I mouse out.
I'm sure it's possible I'm just writing it wrong. Can anybody clue me in the correct way of writing it? I get compiler errors this way...
