I have a swf movie at the end has an button. I want to have the URL that the button goes to be inside of an external XML file so that it can be easily changes for different languages without going back into the flash to change it.

I am an uber n00b to flash AS3. And it is not my intention to sound like a complete moron, but honestly, I have had a hard enough time figuring out just how to load an external .swf into my main file! add a button within the external .swf which will unload itself and load a new on in its place.
View 1 RepliesRight now in my project I have a main SWF that loads an external SWF that contains a youtube chromeless player. My issue right now is that the main+loaded swf are embedded in HTML and there is an effect on the site that moves the flash. I have the video controls in html/javascript but since I can't externally call fullscreen unless its a flash button the controls have a "hole" in the bar to allow a button in flash to poke through for fullscreen. Issue is that when the flash moves, so does the fullscreen button. Basically can a separate embedded flash swf just act as a fullscreen button for another embedded flash object?

View 2 RepliesI have a flash application in which there is a button. On clicking that button, a pps file should play. What I did is published the flash file in a projector format (.exe), created a folder named 'fscommand' and put the pps file inside that folder, and tried to launch the file lying inside that folder from this flash file by using following codes:
on (release) { fscommand ("exec", "file.pps"); }
Another way I tried which I found is:created a .bat file named launch.bat, put it in that folder & tried to launch the pps file via this .bat file using following codes:
Actionscript code:

START "file.pps"
But still it's not working.
I'm really new to using actionscript and am trying to figure out something that seems like it should be really simple. I have eight images on my screen and each one links to an external page.[code]...
Those eight images fade out one at a time while at the same time a new image is fading in with a different external link. This works great the first time through. But, when the first image fades back in, when you click on it, it links to the link of the second image. If you reset your cookies, it fixes itself for the first round again, but how can I make this work all the time?

So far so good. My problem is unloading the loaded 'Child' swf with the button provided on the loaded 'Child' swf.below is the code I used to load the file but I cant, for the life of me, find a way to unload it.

I am certain it requires the Child to communicate with the parent somehow but I am at a loss. If I could get a bit of advice or a link to something deal with this, it would be a big help. I just need to have my links load my modules and the remove them when the close buttong is hit on the loaded swf. I am trying to get a nav button in one movie (main_nav.swf) to target a my main movie (index.swf) and load a sub nav movie (metals_subnav_infinite.swf) into it. The sub nav movie will do a similar task - loading a portfolio swf into main movie (index.swf). I am working on a project where I require to load an external swf movie in a container at frame3 when I click on a button at frame1. And at he same time the movie should fit exactly into that container. And at the end of the movie it should bring back me to the frame1, where all my buttons are there. Another thing is my first frame of the external movies which I have to load is blank so I want to load a movie directly from frame2 or a specific frame.

View 2 RepliesI am loading swfs into a movie clip. However, the contact button is not a loaded swf any longer. It's in the main flash page. This is what I want to do. All the buttons load the external swfs except when I click on the contact button that is in the main flash page. I need to get the other buttons to load after I click the contact flash button. Below is the code for the contact button and the one under for one of the other buttons.

I recently created a site using the "Transitions between External SWFs" tutorial for Flash MX 2004. I use this to load the sections of my site into the main movie file. Each section is an External SWF file. When a viewer clicks on a navigation button, the specific external swf move will load and play. Currently, a viewer would need to click on another navigation option to close the current external swf file. I would like to add a close button to each of the external swfs so that a view has the option to close the window without clicking on a naviagtion link.

I don't know the best way to modify that button ( text, link, actions, etc) and embed it on my own fla:
Should I load it individually on another flash session, modify it, export in swf format and then import it as a library for the other project to be able to use it ?
Or perhaps I'm able to import directly to my fla ?

Is is possible for a loaded external swf to unload itself? I need a loaded swf to play to a certain frame and then display a close button.

In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:

[FMX] I am having trouble loading an XML file on an external server into my flash movie when it is uploaded. The data loads in fine when the flash file is on my local computer with the xml file on a server. As soon as the flash file is uploaded the XML data will not load in.

randomLoader.swf - It has two layers. One being movieclip layer for loading the external .swf files to. The other is the script layer with the following code:

Now if I just embed randomX.swf into HTML they work fine. But if I embed randomLoader.swf in the HTML to load a different randomX.swf file everytime the page loads/refreshes the button seems to show up but does not function. I get the hand but clicking it does not take you to the URL.
Should I be using Java or PHP instead to load the randomX.swf files? I like how well what I have already is working and I don't have to touch the page to update it to show new randomX.swf files. Just need to get Z buttons to work

I am autoplaying a FLV in a SWF in scene 1. I have created buttons on this same scene that will do different things, and present different information. I really want that button to pause that autoplaying video when it starts those actions. How can I accomplish this?
View 6 RepliesI'm working on a Flash project (which will eventually be published as an .exe - not sure if that makes any difference) which has buttons which need to open up external files.The external file will vary in type (there will be at least one button each for .pdf, .exe and .swf).I've managed to get this from various online help things:
