thats my basic Arrow key functions to move a movie clip lp_mc is my character in the left position so when left key is pressed it moves forwards but when right is presssed it moves backwards... i have a movieclip called rp_mc which is the same thing but facing the other way when right is pressed how do i swap the lp_mc for rp_mc so it changes direction?

Aug 5, 2010I have a MC that can be moved around with the arrow keys. When a person presses the left key I want the object to face left and perform an animation for as long as the left key is pressed. When the left key is released I want the animation to go back to it's starting frame but the MC should still be facing left. I want the same thing for the other arrow keys, but the animations will be different for each direction (for example: walk right, walk left, walk away from you, walk towards you).

Jun 21, 2004I am currently trying to create a type of speedometer thing which reacts via various buttons on the screen. I done a simple script for the needle to move so many degrees left or right but this simple script doesn't stop the needle from continuing to go to far left or right (min/max on dial). Is there a way of stopping the needle once it has reached say 10 degrees and 120 degrees?
My script is:
bad_btn.onPress = function (){
needle_mc._rotation +=16;
} good_btn.onPress = function (){
needle_mc._rotation -=16;
}
Bad and good buttons determine the left and right. I am also interested in whether once the needle has reached it max point this would trigger of another function etc.

I set up a 2D array with the names of the input fields as values. I'm trying to call the name of the input field from the array and then assigning the focus, but I'm getting Error 1067 implicit coercion errors.

I've tried several software to change the video dimensions but as far as it seems all of them keep the same height-width ratio than in the original video. Is there any software that would allow me to change the height and width without keeping the same height/width ratio as in the original video file?

What I'm trying to do is to reduce the size of the SWF file.
I've tried editing the height and width parameter within the swfobject(), but that didn't work.
I tried reducing the width height in the HTML css, but that also didn't work..
How can I pass a 'width' or a 'height' parameter to the swfobject so it will actually load the swf in a smaller or 'zoomed out' way?

I know how to scale x and y but that doesn�t work in my case because i have for example an object which height is 75 pixels and width is 137 pixels. X scale and Y scale would work if my objects were 100 pixels width and 100 pixels height.

List width can be changed with inst.dropdownWidth=myWidth; ComboBox width can be changed by free transforming in Flash IDE, but that is not exactly ideal. There should be a code solution for this (I hope). Anyone know or know where to find out? I could not find it in the documentation strangely enough (or maybe I just missed smtg obvious).

Nov 4, 2008It's not my first time with flash, but it's with AS3. I'm having a problem and i don't get it. I'm working with Flash CS3 PRO.
The thing is that i'm working in AS3 with a movieclip. That movieclip has more nested movieclips within. So I've: + bicycle_01 ++ body_low
body_low is animated in bicycle_01. I've created a class that will manage my characters. (This is for a cyclist ranking). So within my main file I create the cyclist. I haven't even started and i found the first problem, i'm trying to change the width of body_low but it freezes. After i change the width of body_low, bicycle_01 stops playing.
Here is my problem: _cyclist.getChildByName( "body_low" ).width = 10;
If I add this line body_low width changes, but the animation stops. (right movieclip in this example)

Jul 16, 2010I have a class that in it's constructor I run the following code, that basically checks to see if the class movieclip is bigger than it's supposed to be, and goes through and changes the background art on each frame to be the size the user wants it to be (with 4 frames in the class and with bg art called "bg1","bg2", "bg3", and "bg4" respectively on each frame). So, I cycle each of the 4 frames and change the background art to the new width and set the parent class to xscale=100. The problem is as soon as I change the width of the bg art, as soon as I gotoAndStop to another frame that width is lost and set back to what it was.[code]...

Aug 13, 2010I know there have been several similar posts but of those I've read, there hasn't been an easy straight forward solution that will work dynamically. The solutions posted have ranged from
super.width = wvalue;
super.height = hvalue;
which I did not get to work, and it seemed from the response to the suggestion neither could the person who originally asked for help, to suggestions about using scale, all the way to having to create an event handler that will get notified after the load, which I guess would work once but wouldn't work dynamically.
Here is the scenario -
I want to change width and height for a MovieClip, but I dont want to scale it, (its more like cropping the MovieClip, not shrinking or stretching) and I want to do this several times not just after the load of the MovieClip.
So my questions are:
1) Is there anyway to do this that really works, that hopefully isn't totally convoluted?
2) Why is it so hard to do this in Flash/AS3?

but when I do like this movie does not load. when I do this method to vary x and y position of the movie it works.

When the Tween takes place though it not only changes the width, it changes the height as if it were scaling it up in both directions. Why does this behavior take place? And how can I get it so that only the width changes? I have also tried using scaleX as the property but it does the same thing.
