How do you change the stroke color of a simple button? I have 50 simple buttons representing the 50 U.S. states. When I change the fill color with the following algorithm, I also eradicate the outline (stroke) color. How do I code in a stroke color?

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction with this. Instead of creating a button and nesting movie clips for each state, I'm trying to script an animated button of a square (no fill) where on rollover the stroke color changes from one color to another (tweening the tint). I want to do this to the button symbol so it's the same for all instances. Is this possible or do I have to go the button > nested MC route? Sorry if this is lame...it's been awhile since I've used Flash and I've forgotten quite a bit.

Person2 etc.I can change the color of the button when clicked, however I want to make sure when you click on a different button, it changes the previous button back to its original color.I know i can do this the ghetto way and list out all the buttons i want with no color each time but if later i have 50 buttons i dont want to list them. So i built a loop but the loop is not working right. Can someone help?

How to switch off Stroke Color in Flash CS4. I am a learner.
View 2 RepliesI'm learning how to use flash CS5.5 and i'm unable to continue a lesson because my button editing seems to not work properly. -When i double click or right click and click edit on my button I go into the symbol edit screen, where i can see the basic button states "Up, Over, Down, & Hit" but when I try to change the appearence of the button in each state the color and any sort of editing done to it does not happen, it is red in the "up" keyframe and when i try to change it to gray in the "over" keyframe it stays red.
-I found that double clicking the button in the edit screen goes into another edit screen labled "symbol 1" and in there i can change the color of the button, but any edits in that screen remain ineffectuall to the actuall button on the main screen. I don't know what is wrong with it, or if I am missing something, i've tried in both action script 2 and 3 and both have the same results.
I have two flash pages, one black and one green, and I need the html background color to change accordingly. What I think I need to do is code the button to change the b/g color.

It might be a securities issue, it opens up the page asking me if I want to run the JS. When I click 'yes' it opens up the page but the background color is the same. So while it opens the page it might not be running the script?
or, I'm not putting the JS in the right area of the html code. Right now I'm putting it after the first <head>.
Is java script my only option? a friend mentioned using css, but I have nothing to go off of as to how to make that work.
I have a movieclip 'cursor' with in it two rectangles. One of them is dark and one is light, so the cursor is blinking. Now, when I want to change the width of this cursor to 150 (where it was 30 before), I do:

This not only changes the width of this movieclip, but also the weigth of the (whole) stroke of the two recangles. How can I prevent this strokechange from happening?

View 5 RepliesI'm trying to learn a simple way to code a button's color to change when you click on the button itself. I got the button's alpha to work by doing the following: Create a text field with the word "Preflight" and convert it to a button. Drag the button onto the stage and give it an instance name of "Preflight1". On the first frame of the timeline, insert the following code:

Now when you test the movie, anytime you click the button "Preflight" the button's alpha drops (dims) by 10%. Works perfect and easy. Now, how can I do this exact same thing with the button's color? When you click the button, its color changes to some new color? I've tried colorTransform, but no luck.

All I want to do is read the colors of the fills & strokes on some objects I've imported from Adobe Illustrator. Currently I have the objects represented but I cannot determine the best way to fill them in. I have no problem creating the gradient necessary in the center square, but I cannot get the outer ring to build a -circular- gradient. It seems the only two native gradients in flex are linear and radial, but I need the gradient to linearly follow the path around the ellipse. How would I make this possible?

I want to let people change the color of tiles to what they want from a list of colors, so how can I let them change the color of a tile dinamicly with actionscript so that it changes a tile's color while preserving changes of "shadows"? I mean I have let's say a cube and to make it look 3D I need to change each face to make a feeling of 3D and not a flat one.
View 1 Repliesi have been doing this tutorial http:[url]..but i am stuck on PART 8, i have done everything the tutorial has said so far (although my image and the colors used are different) but the large blank box at the top of the color pallet isnt changing color when i click on any color from the pallet.
Also this tutorial doesnt say what version of flash and actionscript is best suited for this.Currently i am using CS4 & Action Script 2.0 but i don't know if this is correct. below there is a link to the fla. file that Coloring_Book.fla.
I have a few movie clips that change color when they are rolled over and rolled out of which is great and works correctly but now I have add glows to those buttons to serve as borders or a stroke and when you roll over the buttons the color and the filter color changes.

So i'm working on this website and I want to be able to switch out the entire color scheme on the website everytime a button is pressed, I've stepped away from flash for awhile and actionscript 3 is new me. Plus I haven't quite found any truely useful stuff on forums yet.
What i can't figure out is when a button is pressed the HTML background color changes to one of 5 preselected colors (that alternate ever time the button is pressed). Then for each background change the text changes too as it is part of a entire new color scheme.
What I've managed so far is to change the color of the background thats within the Flash file. What i did was to make a movie clip that plays to a next frame and stop everytime the button is pressed. Now i just need to also get to change the HTML color and the font colors.
//"homeText" being the name of dynamic text field and "Button" the name of the button and "background" being the movie clip that is the background within the flash file.

I'm not sure if my code is just sloppy or if i'm completely going the wrong route here.
My buttonMC is build of:
1. shape (a rectangle gray color) converted to MC named = Bar
2. (on top of 1) DynamicText named = buttonText converted to MC named = buttText in order to change the color of the shape I decleard a veriable

I then add actionscript onRollOver

but it also changed the color of the text so I added a veriable for the text field

this is bad becuse the text on the screen is unseen.
I have a MovieClip that is just a 100x100 circle with a stroke but no fill. When I change this to 200x200 using as3 the stroke size doubles. How can I increase the diameter of the circle without changing the stroke size?
View 7 RepliesI have a button that I use universally to show a hover state, so that the user knows the item is clickable. The hover state is a simple black stroke. Because the buttons with the timeline are of different sizes, I stretch the button to encapsulate the entire area I want to be linked. However, the stoke of the hover state is stretched too, so it's get thicker the bigger I make it. Is there any way to ensure the stroke is always the same weight?

I worked through Kirupa's "Simple Custom Scrollbar" tutorial and successfully adjusted it to fit some of my content. Then I put it in a movieclip. I was hoping I could just go into each new instance of that movie clip, put in new content and be good to go. Unfortunately, when I edit the content inside my movie clip it edits the content of all the scrollbars in my timeline.
I tried renaming the instance "contentMain" to "contentMain2" in a second movie clip, that I also gave a unique instance name to, and adjusting the actions to match, but that still ended up renaming it in the other the scrollbars in my timeline as well as adjusting it in the actions of all the scrollbars.
