I used to use The original Flex Builder or Flash Builder and it was awesome. But now its all based around mxml which is converted into actionscript anyways. Maybe its just me and im not using the new flash builder 4 well or im behind on the next best as3 coding application. What applications should i use to code as3 applications that are your personal favorites

After creating the form and coding the flash code which is below i coded the php file and loaded it to my webserver to see if it worked (the webserver supports php scripts) I am not recieving any emails from the form can any one look over my code and tell me my problem.

a good framework for developing Flash AS3 applications? I have worked on two Flash frameworks till date: GAIA and PureMVC. While GAIA is more focused on Website development and I find PureMVC a bit complex as I was not able to find anywhere the best approach to use the framework efficiently.

This Project consists of a CORE application, and other sub-applications.The CORE application should contain information that will be shared by all other projects (e.g., link to database, data manager which loads data from the database, application information like height width colors fonts... etc.).
The sub-applications each has a certain task. Each sub-application is a large project by itself so I don't think its a good idea to put all code inside one HUGE project.The CORE project should run the main application, and through a navigation menu, I should be able to click and run other sub-applications.Is there a way to created the CORE application to reference those sub-applications so that I can run them inside of the CORE. At the same time, those sub-applications should reference the CORE applications to get the NetConnection to the database and other important information that they might share?
I'm interested in create a business management application with a little flash flare... but I don't know where to start. I guess I'm just stuck on database interaction at this point.

At the moment, what the powers that be want is to show a cash amount, and then it will do some fancy animation to a new dollar amount. These amounts would be from two days ago to yeserday. This helps protect showing how many users are currently playing (why this matters I don't know).

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a simple Flash chat application for educational purposes, but I'm stuck trying to send a policy file from my Java server to the Flash app (after several hours of googling with little luck). The policy file request reaches the server that sends a harcoded policy xml back to the app, but the Flash app doesn't seem to react to it at all until it gives me a security sandbox error.

I would like to create a demonstration through a web browser of our phone application. I can us Flash to create the demo but I want to avoid using Flash for compatibility reasons. I was thinking I could use HTML + CSS + JS. I want to know if anybody else have experience with this. I am open to the idea of using HTML5 but need to be pointed to the right direction to research.
View 1 RepliesI'm working on an existing modular project that was built in PureMVC. Instead of converting everything over to RobotLegs, I want to create a new module using RobotLegs and plug it into the pureMVC shell. Currently, when the module loads, I get the following flash error: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable IMediatorMap is not defined.
Inititally, I thought it was because my module needed a pureMVC Mediator to call the pureMVC StartupCommand to get things "hooked up" and THEN create the RobotLegs' Context. However, that didn't work and I'm still getting the error.

I'm just getting started switching from flash to flex for the better components. I am trying the simple experiment of adding a button and then changing the label. This code does not work. It does not recognize myButton. In flash I could access a button instance after adding it using the instance name. Can't you do this in flex?

I have 6 MC on stage with a button on each. When clicked it plays the timeline in the MC. I want to make sure that none of the other MC are playing or 'open'. So I wrote code in each clip to close the others down, but it just seems a really lengthy way of doing it.
So I've been trying to figure it out with var/strings and some script like. btn1.onRelease play this... if there is another MC open then close it. someone point in the right direction. So I can learn... I've thought about this alot and I would use this way of coding alot. rather specifying and repeating the statement on each clip.

If I use MovieClips: Is there any way to avoid coding the rollover functions etc. for EVERY movieclip instance? - ie is there anyway to code the behaviours into the master Movieclip button (ie the way buttons have built in behaviours), rather than have to add multiple event listeners to every instance - just to get a rollover effect?

A lot of tutorials I find for advancing are outside the FLA. Is there an easy way to consider moving my code from inside the FLA to outside the FLA? As most tutorials I find online are like this. However, I don't know what I need to consider in making this swap. The package/constructor method for classes is really new to me.

Ok Im just a little confused on what to do. In my menu I have 2 drop downs. each one is a separate Movie Clip and inside that Movie Clip they have other buttons that are separate Movie Clip. I have a class set to the buttons for a rollover action but it isn't working.How do I set actions to Movie Clips that are in other Movie Clip?
