ActionScript 3.0 :: ContentLoaderInfo - Display Images On Stage And Place Them Horizontally Based On Their Individual Widths

I'm trying to figure out how contentLoaderInfo works; I'm trying to display 5 images on stage and place them horizontally based on their individual widths. Everything works fine except inside displayImage i remains at 5. Each width traces out correctly, but i stays at 5. What is it about contentLoaderInfo that I'm not understanding?
I'm currently working on a project for a simple scroller left to right gallery, images get loaded from an xml file, but the width of my images variate, therefore i need to find a way to vary the attribute else I get black blocks before images.. here is my source code for the main comp..

i couldn't find a tutorial on this matter so i sorta started making my own hypothesis... what i'm trying to do is: have a gallery of images automatically scrolling horizontally while having the set of images loop. like at[URL]..
here are a couple of my theories and questions for AS commands to have this work:
1) display a range of pixels of an image at certain positions, i.e. if gallery is scrolling to the left, leftmost image when its parts are disappearing out of the viewing area, they become visible at the right.
2) have two instances of each image and when an image is disappearing on left, the second instance of that image comes visible on the right. this I imagine would take up more HD space.
i guess what i was wondering more about is how jager did their gallery where there's only enough images are in a set to be viewed in the viewing area.
How do you make a movieclip move horizontally from the start of the stage to 3/4 of the stage. Stage size is 700 px by 600 px i want just one row in the middle of the stage. i want that movieclip to disappear right after it reach the end of the 3/4 mark.

make an interactive flash simulation of a display that has several different settings. these need to work individually so that the user can set the different indicators to the number they want. the picture shows the two main functions; a number indicator and a status bar (kind of like the reception bar on a phone).i have tried to get .swf files to load on top of each other, but they keep erasing previous settings in other indicators. is there a way to get this to work? or maybe a completely different approach that would be smoother? or can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial or a template that has this function?

I'm trying to make a chat room that basically has a static background but it also allows for multiple PM's to take place in their own individual "windows" that can be dragged around the screen...
I think I can manage the basics but how do I create a template for the PM windows and how to I use them?

Currently, I'm looking deeper.. Let's say if I'm displaying the characters in different parts say Head, Body and Arms, etc.. How do I make sure when I randomize the characters, the correct part of each character is displayed correctly? Instead of characterOne's head appear with characterTwo's Body and characterThree's Arms for example.
How would you guys go about creating an horizontally scrolling panel of thumbnail images? I want a panel that scrolls for ever in both directions and it also needs to be controlled via two arrow buttons not a mouse over type scroller. I would also like to animate with Tweens in action script to get a nice smooth scroll.I know some as3 but I can't work out how to make the scroller repeatedly scroll in both directions.
Im working on a chess game replay system in flash, and in order to display comments on individual moves I am loading them from an external text file. Since one of the navigation buttons allows the game to skip to the last move I want to also recieve the number of the last move through this text file. After using loadvars all the comments are loaded correctly as strings but the variable for lastmove is not being recieved as a number. My ultimate question is whether there is a way to convert the text number into a real number which can be manipulated. If not, is there a simple way to load this data element individually as a number.
I'm just starting with Flash CS4. I have done a whole heap of vector images and before I did anything I turned it into a movie clip but for some reason they are no longer movie clipped. How can I get my vector layers from the "Scene 1" and move them into their own movie clip?
Also I have done them all in individual files (never again), but how do I get all the individual .fla vector images and layers into the same file?
I have a image of burlap @ 500 width x 430 height. I need to tile this as my entire background for my full screen flash site. flip the image horizontally for every other placement horizontally, and then i need it to flip vertically for every other Vertical placement. So the image only looks seamless if i do this. I have a illustration below to help show what i mean.
How much of an impact does import flash.display.* over individual loading make? I'm using FlashDevlop so its auto created but the list is getting huge. Is there a significant savings by not adding all of them. Or better question if its imported but not used will it be added at compile time?
If two movie clips instances of the same movieclip are placed on the stage and one is flipped horizontally in Flash.. Is there a way I can detect which one has been flipped horizontally in code? ScaleX seems to remain unchanged.The MovieClip has been flipped horizontally using the Flash UI (Edit->Flip Horizontal), not via code.
I'm dynamically loading images from a JSON feed into individual movie clips and then adding the clips to the stage(both by addChild)--basically creating thumb tiles. I've added a click handler to do something when the MC is clicked. WHAT'S MY PROBLEM: The problem I have is that the MC is clickable, but the content is not. For instance, the clip has a white box in it, and the loaded image is made slightly smaller and centered to give a white border around the pic. An empty clip loaded to the stage works fine, and the white border around the image is clickable, but the image is not.
I've been trying to develop a Flash Cube that has different images on each face as well as individual links for each, but I'm having trouble coding it - I can either get it with images and one link per cube, or no images and individual links!!(I've seen this elsewhere) I'd like it to freeze its rotation when you hover over each face as well.
I know I can make an array if all the buttons would have a unified code executable change, i.e. they would become larger and brighter. My problem is that each button represents an product image in the lights off stage, then of rollover it is a lights on stage so I have to import two images in the on and off stage and play around with the opacity.Additional problem is that each button has to ling to a different label.
My question is: is it possible to unify the code if buttons have that much individuality or I have to make each one of them as in the example below.

I've gotten as far as getting a listbox with a list of articles to display the articles in a dynamic text box, only i can only get it to work if i use one huge external text file that contains all the articles. what i want is to have each item on the list open up its own external text file, i.e. for each item on the list, there exists a separate text file. I'm about ready to put my fist through the monitor, and that would suck because this is a really nice monitor
I want to create a flash site where I have a long horizontal movie clip split into about five sections, each about 960px wide. The effect I want to achieve is when the user clicks on the button it will scroll horizontally to the specific section of the flash project. For example, if your on the home page and you click on the contact the movieclip will tween to the right until it reached the contact section of the long movieclip. And I also want it where if the user clicks on the home it'll scroll back to the home page. I can't seem to accomplish. I tried positioning with the x property and move right so many pixels. I'm thinking about setting like some coordinates or some kinds of reference points so when the button is clicked it will go to those specific points in the stage.
